So much care has gone into the design and production of these beautiful, sustainable SunOK solar ovens.

This Solar Unit is indeed beautiful in design, but more importantly is supreme! My boyfriend purchased several of these units! Out of love, we are making sure our loved ones have these on hand. These units, if ordered directly through SunOK and Nuno, ship from Lisbon Portugal. Nuno has done a phenomenal job with this unit in which 5 Stars is underrated! Our family members truly LOVE the performance of this unit and the ease of use. A Sunny day, out in the open with good sun circumference is all that is required. Our family is so pleased with this, they are making a journal of temperature outside and cooking times! Everything they have made has turned out so well and so very good! In essence, YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED WITH THIS PURCHASE! COOK IT, EAT IT, LOVE IT, AND ENJOY...
    ❤❤❤

Hi, are you located in the US? How is the solar oven working for you so far? Would like to ask few questions about the oven.

It's definitely a nice design, and has a nice look ascetically as well. Me, I'm obsessed with ultimate efficiency. I'm working on designing a light weight, vacuum insulated cooler that will double as a Solar oven, passive night time refrigeration unit (by radiating IR up into space), and also a day time active, no electricity refrigeration unit with an add on evaporative/phase change and adsorptive closed loop cooling system that is regenerated by the heat of the Sun. Switching from one function to the other will be super fast and easy--in most cases just switching out a different top/lid.
Everything will be based on the core of the cooler, but with different tops for the different functions (and in the case of the daytime fridge, two containers connected by two hoses).
I'm trying to make it out of the most sustainable materials possible for most of it. The majority of it will be wood and two forms of unusual, lightweight glass. The main driving force behind it's efficiency is the vacuum insulation. I've figured out a way to make vacuum insulation panels that are light weight, strong, durable, and moderately easy to make. Basically by using a composites approach, except that the main adherent will not be epoxy nor polyester resin as neither of these can hold a vacuum long term and nor do they deal with high temps well.
To put it into some perspective, Cork has an R value at best of R4 per inch, which is good for a natural material--it's kind of natures equivalent to foam. A hard vacuum insulation has an R value of R60 per inch. Mine probably won't be a super hard vacuum like that but more of a medium vacuum. So let's estimate R40/inch. To put it another way, it would take 10" thick cork to achieve similar insulation capacity of my 1" vacuum panel. That means it will get up to cooking temperature much faster, reach much higher temps, and retain temps far longer than any Solar cookers minus the evacuated tube ones which also insulate via vacuum. But these don't hold much volume of food and are not easy to work with in relation to larger, bulkier items. You would be able to cook a whole turkey in my design. It would work in winter well unless you're at such a far north or south latitude you receive barely any sun.
I'm not sure on pricing yet, but I plan to offer a package deal for the 4 in 1 system of somewhere around 350 to 400. The main cooler itself will be around 200 or so. I believe Yeti is the only brand that in the US sells a vacuum insulated cooler and their's retails for 800. If these sell decently, I also plan on making a smaller cooler for use in vehicles that works on TEC's and Solar panel+battery (with also an option to plug into the car). Also vacuum insulated (though, in this case except for the top) and can double as a night time radiative refrigerator (if you happen to run out of battery juice).

This is a nice design. There's been advances in coatings that can be applied to glass that allow heat to permeate in but not leave (one way heat transfer).
    Looks good for a picnic

He walks, he talks, he cooks! He has a cute dog! Great video and nice sound track. With these 100 degree days coming up I'm looking to cook solar. Only to find that its not really the temperature that does it but the UV. So could have been doing this all along all year round LOL.

Love it. It looks like all the good things from my Solavore but maybe even better. Just a tip though, if the heat plate at the bottom is coated with black paint, the oven thermometer can scratch the coating. I put an edging of sugru around mine, which is supposed to be heat safe.

I think I was getting somewhere between 225F and 250F on this particular day. I don't have a set time but you can usually tell how long based on the browning on top. I usually let it go for at least two hours though. The grease cleaned up super easy with just a paper towel.

It works great during winter here. I usually do more soups, stews, roasted veggies, and reheating items in the winter but I can't tell much difference aside from adjusting the reflector angle a bit and it takes about 30 minutes longer to preheat in winter.

This is the nicest looking solar cooker I’ve seen! I really want one. I’m in New Mexico and it’s such as shame to let all this sunshine go to waste! Thanks for the wonderful video. Assuming you’re in the USA? How much did it cost with shipping?

Oh if you're in NM you have prime solar cooking areas. I think at the time, it was about $350 USD. With supply chain issues and staff shortages from Covid, I have no idea now though.

Thank you for this great video. I'm interested with this beautiful sun oven. About how much does it cost? I went to their web site but it does not say the cost.

Sorry for the slow replay on this comments. I am hoping to put out an update video here very soon now that I have had this oven for two years and still going strong. The original cost was about $325-350 if memory serves but I am not sure what it is now because I think I may have a very early model. Thanks for watching!

Sorry for the slow replay on this comments. i usually get 225-250 for most things that benefit from a slow cooking process. I hope to put out an update video very soon since its been over two years now and still ging strong. Thanks for watching!
