crazy how Caruso became one of the most universally loved players in the NBA. At the same time legitimately one of the very best POA defenders of this generation
He is more the respectful but best of his generation is a stretch.
@@DAV3RAG3if you consider this “generation” the last 10 or so years from mid 2010s up until the mid 2020s he’s undoubtedly a top 5 guard defender in that time period. all the advanced number’s and eye test back it up too
Naji Marshall could be an interesting fit for OKC. I dunno how well he rebounds but he improved his jumper and would for sure add physicality and toughness that OKC needs. Can probably play some small ball 5 in lineups where Chet and/or JWill aren’t on the floor
one of the best FA in that second tier

every time i watched a pels game last year(granted only about 12-15 games) he always stood out and i would always think “damn he’s a lot better than i realized”

The Thunder have 19 first round picks over the next three years and after Hayward comes off the books they'll have just under 30 million in cap space- trade for Jonathan Isaac so JW doesn't have to play the 4 and they'll be even more airtight on defense.

We outscored the Mavs by a lot when Chet was on the court but they also were outscored by a lot when Chet was off the court. That means that playing Jdub at the 4 on defense isn’t the problem. The problem is that we need a better back up big man .
@jbtreshawn Yeah because he's going to have more time to shoot because he'll be surrounded by other shooters that the defense has to honor. In Orlando there's no shooting so defenses can play him tighter.
@sg-duwap_yt8209 But if you play him at his natural spot at the three he doesn't have to expend energy trying to box out guys who are bigger than him and he won't be gassed at the ends of games like he was against the Mavericks.
@@thomascrowniii1693 Jdub guarded Kyrie the entire series………..He was gassed because of that. We used Shai as the weak side defender that series and he averaged 8 rebounds a game and wasn’t gassed.
They have more than enough ammo to pull off a Markkanen trade. I hope they do it!
It blows my mind the gap in knowledge, insight and general experience between all the GM's of the league. Like how is Chicago so many years behind?? The writing was on the wall 3 years ago and everyone knew it but them. Am I doomed to front office ineptitude for the rest of my days as a fan of this franchise. Were an absolute laughing stock and our front office has no idea, they're probably thinking they pulled off the fleece.

I like the strategy of getting Lauri and running teams off the floor but the more realistic options is they add a rebounding big. If I'm playing 2K GM, trade Isiah Joe and a 1st for Kevon Looney (Warriors love Trayce Jackson Davis, allows them to play him more) or maybe a couple of late picks for a guy like Nick Richards.
So many of you guys don’t pay any attention to OKC and they think of things Ike it’s 2K. They play 5 out and Chet is their Center. They won’t go after the r a traditional big
@@808bboarder I said I would prefer that strategy bro, but it's gonna be tough to get a guy like Lauri. It's definitely realistic that they try to get a traditional big. Chet IS their center, doesn't mean they aren't looking for a traditional big man to be backup.
@@dannygibson2597Isaiah Joe is still a valuable piece for them, unlikely to be traded this summer. I do think they could do with assessing the market for a backup 5 though, some emergency size if they need it

@samn90834 that's what I suggested. Both Looney or Richards would be backup 5s. Chet could play the 4 in certain rotations with both of them as well. Ideally they need their version of Naz Reid, a big to come off the bench who can both rebound *and* shoot a little bit, but those guys aren't growing on trees.

1) Size and rebounding (Hartenstein?)
2) Secondary shot creation (Markannen?)
3) Shooting (already got Caruso. Maybe Buddy Hield?)
4) Bench scoring (Jeremy Clarkson?)
I love this list though I would go.
1. Yes size and strength, rebounds, Hartenstein orrrr Walker Kessler and Lauri Markannen for sayyy. J Will not J Dub, A Wiggins, Kenrich Williams and multiple 2nd round piccs and a couple first round piccs that’s a good deal both ways?
2. Trade up for Donovan Clingan, it’s definitely possible!!!
3. Sign Klay Thompson and bring em off the bench!!!

I feel like them playing Chet at the 5 is not the greatest move bc he’s not strong enough to deal with Jokic, AD, Sabonis, Towns, Gobert, Lively, etc. So I think that unless your 4 is like strong and a great outside shooter like Lauri then you need to get a Clayton or IHart.

They won't do that. Chet's value comes as a rim defender and in help. Forcing him to the perimeter on defense wouldn't be the best fit.
Those big men will be able to score on him until he gets thicker and older. But OKC is betting they'll cook that traditional big on defense. And if you can't put them on giddey anymore, they may be right. If they're getting to the rim consistently, they'll be very tough to beat.

Y’all regurgitate the wrong info. Presti didn’t approach Giddey to trade. He told Giddey they would look to slide him into a bench role and Giddey inquired about getting moved. Josh is a RFA next summer and he needs an opportunity to earn a pay day. Josh didn’t come in asking for a trade just because. He was told his role would be reduced even more and looked at the options. Crazy how much people don’t read into the details
