    Thanks Jim lane for posters and photos, sad that the world will never see or hear this again that’s why the importance to preserve this as a document, not only the issues among them but also that particular sound and energy will never be replicated.

    The Live album was one of my first albums. Must have played them 10000 times on my crappy record player. I remember Into the Sun was an entire side.

      That's all it was. According to Don, no-one "wrote" this song. They were just jamming at practice one day and decided that they should play this at shows.

    And you wonder why led zep,s manager
    went nuts having to follow THIS!

    • @Mff48
      @Mff48 3 роки тому +1

      Ha ha!!!! He bloody knew thats why! In my humble opinion they were better than zepp anyway.....only how i feel.As a frontman Mark has it over Planty.
      Planty lives locally to us and is seen out frequently.....hes well known for being an arrogant so and so...il keep it polite!

      The rumor was they wanted to do shows with The Stones but do you think Mick wanted to go tow to tow with Farner? I guess we would never know. A show with The Stones and Grand Funk Railroad would have been a great show.

      @@Mff48GFR was great live, but their songwriting (too much cliches and banality imo, but sometimes they came up with nice riffs like Got This Thing On The Move, I Come Tumbling, Sins A Good Mans Brother or People Lets Stop The War!) just couldn't match with Plant's composing skills.

    Mark: What the eff am I playing?
    Mel and Don: Doesn't matter, we got you brother.
    What a tragedy that a band with that synergy could not keep it together offstage. Don, you really effed up when you double crossed Mark. Mel, you should have stepped in instead of going along.

    • @bflo1000
      @bflo1000 3 роки тому +2

      Mel also also got into it w Mark. Plus, I guess they got sick of Mark's preaching all the time. I wasn't there so I don't know the whole story.
      But...what chemistry!

    This is an inspired, clever meshing of Mark Says Alright with the last 5:20 or so of Into The Sun from the same LP. See the disclaimer. You can hear the transition when Mark does a hammer-on and says 'All Right" just before the band launches into T.N.U.C. (spell it backward if you want to know what the title means), which was the order of the tunes on the Live Album. That's not a criticism of the video, just an explanation from an old Grand Funk head. It sounds great! Mel Schacher inspired me to switch from piano to bass when I was 15 and it was the best decision I ever made. Still rockin' out 46 years later! This and Deep Purple's Made in Japan are the 2 best live albums EVER. If you don't own them, buy them right now and treat yourself to the fantastic musicianship, great songs, and absolute FURY of rock and roll at its best. The intro of Paranoid and the end of Purple's Child in Time capture the full-tilt, balls-to-the-wall onslaught, an absolute assault on the senses that will leave you blown away, battered, and begging for more. It just doesn't get any better than this.

    • @bflo1000
      @bflo1000 3 роки тому +1

      Right. After the long hammer by Mark, he screams "All right!" then it goes right into TNUC instead of this.

    Mel SCHACHER al escuchar este disco en vinil opte por tocar el bajo un bajeo q jamás se me salió de la cabeza poderoso y explisivo la primera vez q escuché a esta bandota fue en los setentas cuando Hiba a la secundaria hasta la fecha una de mis bandas gabachas preferidas AKI le incluyeron el final de into the sun pero no importa al escuchar ese machacante bajeo

    This is a welcome viewing. All those billboard signs are just too cool. The one from Cleveland is the concert I went to in October of 70. I’d completely forgotten this song till it started. I remember them doing this song in Canton 69 and Cleveland 70.. the last pic of Marky holding THE Messenger is one that I keep in my cell phone. Again I say.. screw the Rock Hall for not getting it right. When you look at the headliners that Grand Funk Headlined In front of… phahuck… automatic in the Hall and crickets out of those political hacks..

    In my mind, one of the three worst snubs for the R&R HOF. Great song here, and the video has a lot of really cool old concert posters that bring oft forgotten singers and bands back to mind.
