I got the Value Edition also in Electric Blue. I like the slope more than the spoiler mainly because spoilers rust, where this won't. Also speaking about what is under the hood on the bottom of the cover that black thing is designed in an engine fire when starts to melt it will drop down and smother the flames. My Value Edition has black cloth. That Santa Fe fob is kind of a different design from my Elantra's. With my voice command it has always recognized what I am saying, even if on the highway with the sunroof open with a normal voice volume; along with being able to be heard exceptionally well on the phone meaning that it at least has a high quality microphone. Also you can say a station number. What I would like to see in the future that no other manufacture has is where you can tell it to change the temperature of course on models with the automatic climate control system. Next to the dimmer switch is your blind spot detection with rear cross traffic alert power button. The blinker stick is clicky like that because it also has lane change assist meaning that if you hit it without clicking it the blinker with blink 4 times so you don't have to turn it on and than off again. When your headlights are set to auto and you turn on your wipers it will also turn on your low beams. Only Honda is dumb enough to take the volume knob out and figured out that it was bad and changed it back to a knob on the new CR-V, but not yet on the Civic. With the display off you can set it to either be a digital, analog, or completely black off view with both clock formats also showing the date. I like the sloping down of the hood because when getting close to objects it makes it a bit easier to judge distance. Starting at the Value Edition you get a power driver's seat with lumbar support, auto dimming mirror with homeLink and compass, along with that indentation above the visor mirror is a light that is controlled by a little switch where when you close it it hits the off part of the switch and turns the light off by itself for you. The dots under the light are your microphones for voice command and calling. The laundry hooks along with the seat back pocket are not found in the compact class. The nice thing with these seats is that they are good at taking the shape with your back combined with the lumbar on the driver's side and it is class leading comfort. Electronic parking break is only on the Civic. On the Value Edition and above the center armrest slides by pushing the open lever. The ports in it are located in the front dash so you don't have that taking up room along with being able to access the plugs better. You also get 2 stage heated rear seat on limited tech package and above by the window button. I like the rear cup holders in the way that when there is a person sitting in the middle seat they are still usable and don't really kill the middle passenger's comfort. Also with this design the middle seat can be designed to be more comfortable because it doesn't have a drop down compartment. On Limited trims though the cup holders are located in the center seat though. Map pocket starts on the SE Teck package. The button to open the trunk is only compatible with a proximity key or push to start because the button is part of the sensing as with other competitors. It also has the smart trunk with proximity key models. The last gen had the fix a flat so it is new to 2017 . For folding down the seats I stand on the side of the car so I can both pull the latch and push the seats down. Only minivans have the one step folding down rear seats. Finally, with proximity models the lock beep is more high pitch like a Toyota or other proximity vehicles.
+Peter Gilbert, Thanks for commenting! The Hyundai Elantra sure does offer quite a bit of car for your money! Personally, I think it is amongst one of the best deals in its class! Featuring many exclusive options, and class leading interior volume! I am glad you choose to get an Elantra Value Edition! It is definitely a great deal in the Elantra line-up! The SE with the Popular Equipment Package that my tester does have is also a very generously equipped model, but if it was my money I would most likely step up to the Value Edition! Agreed with everyone else that the host of this video is an excellent reviewer. That’s especially considering the fact that I wasn’t crazy about the 2017-18 Elantra design as compared to the 2011-16 Elantra design, but the host made me appreciate the newer version through calling out a lot of details and colorful description. I just bought the latest version of the 2011-16 model types of the Elantras yesterday. It’s a 2016 Elantra, my dream car. Every time I had seen one on the road and it’s sporty, jazzy and snazzy look, I marveled. Just finally said to myself, I need one for myself. So after many a moons, I gave up my long lasting 1998 2-door Honda Civic and got me my new baby. Can’t tell you how much I cherish my 2016 Elantra of only 10,108 miles my parents fought tooth and nail to help me get all month long and finally got yesterday 10/6/18. Drove 2 hrs from Milwaukee to Naplesville, Ill to get it. And what a smooth 2 hour glide home it was. I just think the older version of the Elantras still surpasses these newer 2017-18 models. The 2019 apparently just came out to and people are lambasting that model. To the host, it be nice if you could review the 2011-16 version of the Elantra.
Hi there, Tonetare! I am so sorry for the late reply. I just noticed it since there are a ton of comments on this video (and yours must've slipped through the cracks). I try to reply to everyone. So I guess better late than never. 😅 Anyways, thanks so much for all your compliments. Much appreciated! How are you enjoying your 2016 Elantra so far? *~DriveAndBeDriven* 🚘 _"The Quest To Record The Best!"_ 🎥
@@DriveAndBeDriven Ah no worries at all. So considerate of you to make a point of trying to respond to everyone on your channel. I have a UA-cam cartoon series at my channel and do the same thing in terms of trying to respond to everyone, but I always inadvertently miss a couple so I know how that goes. But you are more than welcome over my compliments of your reviewing. I was happy to leave you the positive feedback. You more than deserve it. Please keep up the good work. To address your question, my 2016 Elantra has been treating me quite well and still looks like new. I took it for a spin today just to get out on this corona quarantine and admire it like the day I got it. I did made the mistake of getting one of those car air fresheners, which ended up wiping out new car smell which I love so much. The car air freshener smell gave me headaches and I wish I could have that new car smell back. Do you know of anything to get the new car smell back? One other thing is I did have to switch out the tires a few months after buying it because Elantra tires aren't very good. I don't know if that's the case with the newer models but at least the 2016 tires that come with the car are horrid. They were nice-looking and sporty, but akin to summer tires in that they slipped and slided wildly out of control even with simple wetness. I replaced them with all-season michelin tires, said to be the best types of tires out there.
My pleasure, Tonetare! I am glad you understand. I'll be sure to check out your cartoon channel. Also, that's GREAT! So happy to hear your 2016 Elantra is treating you well. I actually took my 2017 Veloster for a spin the other day just to get some fresh air from self-quarantining, too! It was nice to admire the day (and my car). Haha! At the moment, I am on the hunt to find the perfect new car air freshener, too! I tried one from Chemical Guys, but I wasn't too fond of the OVERPOWERING smell it left in my car. Therefore, at the moment, I don't have any New Car Smell recommendations sadly... Also, that's so CRAZY! I actually just recently swapped out my tires on my 2017 Hyundai Veloster! The factory Nexen tires performed extremely well for my driving habits, but the tread life isn't the best... Therefore, around the 40,000-mile mark, I decided to replace them. I swapped them for these really sticky and plush Goodyear Eagle Sport tires. They make my Veloster feel like a million bucks!!! Once again, thanks for all the compliments! Take care and please stay safe. Also, DON'T FORGET TO SUBSCRIBE IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY! :) Thank you, Tonetare! *~DriveAndBeDriven* 🚘 _"The Quest To Record The Best!"_ 🎥

very good through review. I bought this car in june, 2016. SE with popular and tech packages. 22.000 miles, 0 problems. I like it very much. I am a fan of the interior, to me it feels upscale and a touch classy. Mine is Shale Gray metallic, with the 2 tone silver interior. I agree with your in depth review, You nailed it.
I truly appreciate your support, Steve Franklin! I am glad you enjoyed this In-Depth Review of the all-new 2017 Hyundai Elantra Sedan! I had a blast creating it. Also, you made a great choice! The Popular Package is a must-have option on the 2017 Elantra. Especially with the addition of the Technology Package. Those two packages combined completely elevate the Elantra's value proposition, style, and overall connectivity/"tech-savviness"... While (most importantly) remaining reasonably priced (especially when compared to its main competitors). The Elantra shown in this video has actually just surpassed 6,000 miles and has faced 0 problems. Afterall, the 2017 Hyundai Elantra received a 4.5 out of 5-star rating. Ranking in higher than its competitors from Volkswagen, Mazda, and even Honda. Awesomeness! How have you been enjoying your car so far? I can say, for the price that these are currently going for on the used market, you made a good choice. This gen Elantra (particularly the 2017 and 2018 models) have proven to be rather reliable. Also, they are safe, stylish, fuel-efficient, and even offer a nice smooth ride. I am actually interested in purchasing the 2017 Hyundai Elantra. I’m trying to gain more information on it in regards to maintenance of this car, saving gas and it’s space area.
Awesome, Swendee! The model shown in this particular video is the 2017 Hyundai Elantra SE w/ Popular Pkg. The exterior color is Electric Blue and the interior color is gray. As far as space goes, I actually made a video covering how practical the trunk of this car is. Feel free to check that video out here: ua-cam.com/video/bsL_oaGyezw/v-deo.html Also, as far as fuel economy goes, this vehicle is pretty fuel efficient. It is not the most fuel efficient used 2017 car. But, considering you can find one of these used for as low as $10k-$12k, makes it a GREAT buy. Especially when you consider the Elantra's tendency to be very reliable (along with Hyundai's excellent warranty which carries over to most used cars). Let me know if that helps or if you need anymore information. Don't hesitate to ask. :) *~DriveAndBeDriven* 🚘 _"The Quest To Record The Best!"_ 🎥

Yes!! I am so glad other people agree with me. I personally really loved the overall design of the 2017/2018 Elantra. Especially from the front fascia! I was honestly super surprised when Hyundai released a mid-cycle refresh so soon for the 2019 model year... As far as that new model goes, it is interestingly styled. It isn't ugly at all, but the styling isn't necessarily 100% my cup of tea. I have to admit that the rear fascia on the new 2019/2020 model looks more attractive in my eyes than the pre-refresh models. Anyways, let me know if you have any questions about the Elantra. Also, thanks so much for commenting! Feel free to SUBSCRIBE for more content coming soon! Thanks again, Alex. -DriveAndBeDriven 🚘 "The Quest To Record The Best!" 🎥
Omg I love the 2019/2020.... I love the triangle shape of the headlights and I like the back with the name written large across, but I love this one as well. I liked the prior model too lol
Amazing video!!! Gave me all the information I needed... your presentation is superb and I felt engaged and as if I was in the car myself the whole time. You’ve got yourself a new subscriber in me... keep it up!!!💯

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this review. That's a great question... Both are really solid choices that will undeniably be reliable, but I would personally go for the pre-owned 2018 Elantra. Not only will you get more interior space, but you'll also most likely be able to benefit from Hyundai's carry-over warranty. Also, you won't have to deal as much of a loss in terms of depreciation, since the Elantra would have already depreciated a considerable amount over the past 2-3 years. As far as tech and features go, both are quite comparable. And considering they are the same price, it's mostly comes down to preference. Also, the Elantra is about 1 second quicker on average. So also keep that in mind if you like a bit more power while behind the wheel. I have not been able to test out a 2020 Yaris, so I can't give you too much helpful information, but I hope this response helps. Please keep me posted regarding your car shopping journey! Best wishes, and happy new year!! *~DriveAndBeDriven* _"Fueled by Dreams, Driven by Passion"_
@@DriveAndBeDriven hi bro I appreciate your feedback ! I think if I couldn't find a very good deal/offer with 2020 (Accent, Yaris ) i would go with Elantra 2018, because as you said even if its pre-owned it's bigger , faster and more features etc. also just found out that most new cars uses CVT, but Elantra 2018 is not , so this is a big bonus :D . I'm currently looking for a good condition pre-owned will let you know if i got one . thanks =) and happy new year for you too
No problem, man! Definitely! If you can find a really good deal on a 2020 Yaris or even on an Accent, go for that. They're both GREAT cars, if got at the right price. 💯✌🏽 But, exactly! The Elantra is more spacious, a bit quicker, and will have more available features (especially if you find a well-equipped pre-owned model with decent mileage). Also, yes! You're absolutely correct. The 2018 Elantra was the last Elantra model to not have a CVT. The newer ones (despite the Sport models) feature a CVT. So, if you like real shifting and occasionally popping it into sport mode with the "manual shifting drive mode", the Elantra will be the most fun for you. :) Let me know if you find any Elantra's near you at a good price. Both 2017 and 2017 models are quite similar. So search fof both of those years. 😁 Keep me posted, man!! Thanks again for commenting. Hope I helped with this video and my replies. Best wishes! 😎👊🏽🔥 *~DriveAndBeDriven* _"Fueled by Dreams, Driven by Passion!"_

Thanks so much for commenting, Kyle H! I really like the interior layout on the new Elantra, too. Everything is logically laid out and all of the controls are intuitively functioning. As far as interior colors go, for the 2017 model year, the Hyundai Elantra didn't offer a black cloth interior option no matter your exterior color choice. For 2017, Hyundai only offered a black leather interior on higher-end trim levels. For the 2018 model year, though, Hyundai rectified my complaint and made black cloth seats an option on the base SE models of the Elantra (except for the Lakeside Blue, Electric Blue, Beige, and Red exterior colors). I hope this clears up any confusion. If you have any questions regarding the new Elantra or its competitors, don't hesitate to ask me. I watched alot reviews before buying and yours was the most thorough my biggest complaint on the car is the color seats i wanted black cloth but i just got seat covers good review
WOW! This means a lot to me, Dustin! Thank you for the compliment. Yes! It's a bummer that Hyundai doesn't offer Black cloth on the 2017/2018 models. I guess they got enough requests, because they brought it back for the 2019 and 2020 model years. If you have any questions, let me know. I'll reply a lot sooner this time around. :) Take care, Dustin. Enjoy your Elantra! *-DriveAndBeDriven* 🚘 _"The Quest To Record The Best!"_ 🎥
Thanks for commenting, Richard Wright! I believe this vehicle will be an ideal uber/lyft car. This is because it gets great fuel economy, it's easy to park, it has a plush and pretty forgiving ride (for the class), and it is relatively quick with decent passing power (so that you can speed up if you're running late 😅). Not to mention, it has interior volume ratings that are amongst the best in its segment. Overall, it's a solid vehicle, and it should suit all of your needs to excel as an uber/lyft driver while still riding in modern style. @@DriveAndBeDriven Thanks!! I had initially settled with an Impreza but it was sold by the time I got to the dealership. For a while I looked into the Mitsubishi Lancer but it was meh.. Then I went into my Hyundai dealership and they had a 2017 Elantra SE. It looks nice! My vehicle is basically the same one as shown in this video. For $800 the Pop. Equipment Package is a steal!! I had the dealership print out the original sticker and I was looking at what my car had for options and I was pleased!! I'm enjoying it and happy to know that it's assembled in USA! 🇺🇸
My pleasure. The Impreza is a great car (the Lancer not so much), but you made an excellent choice by picking the Elantra! Enjoy your new car. You will love your 2017 Elantra SE w/ Popular Pkg. @@DriveAndBeDriven ** Update** While my vehicle was in for service, they had one on the lot that was the same, as shown in this video, and I was blown away. Seeing it in person is just stunning. It helped too that it was sunny out and the Electric Blue was a knock out compared to every other color on the lot that they had!! On another note, that Venue video you made, I watched it, top quality man! Keep up the good work!
Hey! Thanks so much for stopping by again. That's so awesome! I wasn't lying when I said this Electric Blue color truly stands out (especially when in the bright sun)! The blue just radiates a beautiful hue and shine. Definitely one of my top 3 favorite colors for the 2017-2018 Elantras. Too bad the current model doesn't offer it... :( Maybe they'll bring it back for the 2021 next gen Elantra. Also, thanks so much! I am so glad you enjoyed my Venue video. The 1.4t ECO seems to be the best performance per gas mileage and cheap MSRP. 2.0l - 0-60 9.5sec - 29 city/38 highway/33 combined 1.4t - 0-60 7.9 sec - 32 city/40 highway/36 combined 1.6t - 0-60 6.5 sec - 29 city/38 highway/29 combined I will have to bargain with the dealer to have the base model 16" alloys put on the ECO instead of the 15"s. I dont care if I lose an MPG due to the better performing/looking tires. Id rather the 1.4T for the 156 ftlbs of torque and fuel savings.
+bear123 , I agree! The 2017 Hyundai Elantra ECO, by far, offers the most fuel efficiency for the money out of the 2017 Elantra engine trio. Also, you should definitely put the 16" alloys on the Elantra ECO! It will look a lot better than the ECO's somewhat tiny and awkward looking 15" rims! Thanks for commenting and enjoying! Just got me one on Dec.2nd 2024 it is a really nice comfortable car has a lot of room and all the bells and whistles I love ❤️ 😍 it mine is a 2018 very quiet when driving it drives like a brand new car I really enjoy my car was very surprised how well it handles on the road and when you make turns it does very well over all a great car great reliability dependable convent sporty and classy vehicle impressive and stylish 😀 😊 👍 ❤️ 😊
Thanks so much for stopping by. 🙌🏽 I really hope you enjoyed this review! Also, I totally understand where you're coming from. This SE w/ Popular Pkg is definitely missing some of the more premium amenities that come along with the Limited models. Keep me posted regarding your new Elantra Limited. 😁 I hope this video helped you out with your decision. If you have any questions, by all means, let me know. Thanks! I tried to portray a very thorough review of the 2017 Hyundai Elantra SE, a trim that not that many people have reviewed. Most reviews of this car are on of the top of the line Limited trim but, lets face it how many people are actually going to pay $27,000 plus for an Elantra..... not many. So, if figured to review this reasonably priced SE trim, at just under $20,000. I agree it is quite the perfect temperature out here in South Florida! Hahaha! Thanks for commenting, and for all your support! ;-) -DriveAndBeDriven "The Quest To Record The Best!"
DriveAndBeDriven I agree with you on the trim level situation, I try to get a good mix of lower and higher end trim levels on cars. And by the way it's literally 10° here in CT with some nasty wind haha. Not the most ideal filming weather now!
I agree, a good mix of all trims (low, mid-range and top-of-the-line) is a great recipe for success. Well... I hope the weather conditions get better for you! Thanks again for your support! :-) -DriveAndBeDriven "The Quest To Record The Best!"
Thanks for commenting! I usually go to different dealerships around my area, and ask them to review cars there! Most are pretty compliant! Thanks for commenting, Indigo Inspired! This car should be a perfect car for the needs you are looking for out of it! The 2017 Elantra actually offers class-leading interior volume; meaning that the front and rear seat passengers aren't going to have any problems with finding enough space! The Elantra is actually classified as a mid-size sedan as oppose to its competitor's compact sedan rating! As far as rear seat comfort goes with the 2017 Hyundai Elantra, it is fairly good! It isn't the most comfortable in its class, but it will definitely be more than adequate for most! The rear seats are a decent height off the ground, and offer great support for a bench seat! The rear seats actually (sort of) simulate bucket seats, in a way, allowing for the rear seat passengers feeling more secure in the back seats! The seat surfaces also have a very durable feel, and will most likely hold up a lot better than its other competitors over time. For a more in-depth look of the backseat comfort and space, zoom to 39:26 and start watching from there. I discuss the rear seats a bit more in detail, and you will even be able to get a crisp visual in 4k! ;-) Thanks for commenting and enjoying! Feel free to subscribe to my UA-cam channel, too! between a 2015 honda accord or the 2017 hyundai elantra, which one is more reliable? im getting a new car next month and i'm choosing between those two. looking for reliability more than anything else, but i don't really like toyota's otherwise i'd get one. I've heard honda's have always been reliable, and hyundai's used to have a low reliability rate, so i'm really curious about the newer models that i've heard are better.
Mary Fink, Thanks so much for commenting on this video! As a matter of fact, the 2017 Hyundai Elantra was just evaluated for "predicted reliability" by J.D. Power. It actually scored a pretty impressive 4.5 star rating! 😃 In relation to the 2015 Honda Accord, the Elantra actually surpasses it's reliability score of 4 stars! Hyundai is definitely stepping up their game with their recent models... Especially, when it comes to reliability. 👍 Thanks again for commenting on and enjoying this full in-depth review of the all-new 2017 Hyundai Elantra! Mary Fink if you plan on keeping the car 200k go accord , if you plan on keeping the car 100k or less Elantra all day for the warranty value . You should be comparing the Sonata though to the accord it’s the same class performance , and still cheaper
@@DriveAndBeDriven that is weird the 2017 predicted liability, I have 2017 elentra se, it already had 3 misfire issues and only has 38k miles. I notice the 2017 elentra tend to have misfire issues. don't get me wrong still a good car, has lots of room and surprised what I can fit inside it. Also does good mileage.

one thing that bugs me about this car is the interior .. like the exterior looks 2017 but the interior looks 2010 its so bland but other than that its a really good car ! amazing review keep it up !
+Don Youcef, Thanks for commenting, man! The all-new 2017 Hyundai Elantra sure does have a very striking and sporty exterior styling. I believe it is amongst one of the best looking in its class. When it comes to the interior, though. Hyundai definitely has some work to do if they want it to stand out from it's competitors! I don't believe it is outdated, like 2010, because the interior is very up to date with technology, quality, and features. Simply put, the interior is conservativly elegant, but is leaning on the bland side. Thanks again for commenting and enjoying this review of the Elantra! @@DriveAndBeDriven would you recommend getting this car in 2021?
@@yellowshelfreviews7058 get it
I got the Value Edition also in Electric Blue.

"The Quest To Record The Best!"

:) Thank you, Tonetare!

very good through review.

Just got myself the 2017 Elantra. Wasn't too sure if I made the right choice. The video was very informative and helpful. Thank you and keep it up
Awesomeness!

Feel free to check that video out here: ua-cam.com/video/bsL_oaGyezw/v-deo.html
Also, as far as fuel economy goes, this vehicle is pretty fuel efficient.

Great review
Excellent 👏👏👏review
This design was so good to retire this early. 2019/2020 is ugly compared to this

Hi there , what you think is better , buying a used 2018 Elantra or a new car Yaris 2020 ? They both same price ...🤔

_"Fueled by Dreams, Driven by Passion"_
But, exactly!
Let me know if you find any Elantra's near you at a good price. Both 2017 and 2017 models are quite similar. So search fof both of those years. 😁 Keep me posted, man!!
Thanks again for commenting. Hope I helped with this video and my replies. Best wishes! 😎👊🏽🔥

The 2018 Elantra SEL does come with a black cloth interior. I love this interior

Yes! It's a bummer that Hyundai doesn't offer Black cloth on the 2017/2018 models. I guess they got enough requests, because they brought it back for the 2019 and 2020 model years.

you think its an ideal uber/ lyft car? ive been looking
Also, I recommend you check out the following two videos about the 2017 Elantra: My Trunk Review ( ua-cam.com/video/bsL_oaGyezw/v-deo.html ) & My Top 5 Likes and Dislikes Review ( ua-cam.com/video/WnarzmkPOrg/v-deo.html ).

@@DriveAndBeDriven ** Update** While my vehicle was in for service, they had one on the lot that was the same, as shown in this video, and I was blown away. Seeing it in person is just stunning.

The 1.4t ECO seems to be the best performance per gas mileage and cheap MSRP.
2.0l - 0-60 9.5sec - 29 city/38 highway/33 combined
1.4t - 0-60 7.9 sec - 32 city/40 highway/36 combined
1.6t - 0-60 6.5 sec - 29 city/38 highway/29 combined
I will have to bargain with the dealer to have the base model 16" alloys put on the ECO instead of the 15"s.

Good job thoroughly explaining everything. I wish it was 65° here in CT haha
Hahaha! Thanks for commenting, and for all your support! ;-)

I'm getting this car to drive for uber and lyft..... Is there enough comfort and space for that as far as passengers are concerned???
I discuss the rear seats a bit more in detail, and you will even be able to get a crisp visual in 4k! ;-)

between a 2015 honda accord or the 2017 hyundai elantra, which one is more reliable? im getting a new car next month and i'm choosing between those two. looking for reliability more than anything else, but i don't really like toyota's otherwise i'd get one.

Mary Fink if you plan on keeping the car 200k go accord , if you plan on keeping the car 100k or less Elantra all day for the warranty value . You should be comparing the Sonata though to the accord it’s the same class performance , and still cheaper
So which one did you get and how is it going with you.
@@DriveAndBeDriven that is weird the 2017 predicted liability, I have 2017 elentra se, it already had 3 misfire issues and only has 38k miles. one thing that bugs me about this car is the interior .. like the exterior looks 2017 but the interior looks 2010 its so bland but other than that its a really good car ! amazing review keep it up !
