Dr. Tyson is making the same mistake that the young-earth crowd make, that the Bible is meant to be something like a friend's grandfather's journal of events he observed instead of the ancient literature it is. It's based on the faulty assumption that it isn't necessary to actual learn about something before making pronouncements on the topic. Ross is making the error of assuming that Genesis 1 is speaking in scientific terms: there is nothing about a planet in Genesis 1. His claims are just science fiction that pretty much does do what Tyson claims, changing the interpretation to fit science. So Ross is thinking contrary to his opening principle; the first step is to figure out what kind of literature the text represents -- and it isn't history. Given that Ross fails to do that, he doesn't qualify as an expert witness. Indeed he's making the same mistake as fundamentalists do when they accuse evolution of being a religion, taking words and writings to mean what they would mean by them. By his measure, the books of Tom Clancy or John Grisham have to qualify as meant to be taken literally.

You're wrong again. Ruth, Bathsheba, Tamar and Rahab are included in the Matthew genealogy of Jesus only as the consort or wives of Israelites. According to Israelite law, only the ethnicity of the father counted, which is why for instance when the Israelites conquered other peoples, they killed the men but kept the women. It's also why even thought Herod the Great married Mariamne I, descendant of Alexander Jannaeus, no royal lineage was conferred on Herod in the eyes of the Judeans by doing so. Her royal ancestry didn't count. There are no women listed in the Luke genealogy of Jesus. You should stop making these videos, because you know virtually nothing about the Old Testament.

The prophecy about stars falling from the sky referred to "shooting stars" or stars are symbolic to spiritual things in high places. Natural history according to scientist depend on philosophical naturalism. Science did not discover that philosophical naturalism gives us the answers to natural history, these are only affirmations. The spirit of God moving over the face of the waters is the "breath of God",or wind. No hovering. The darkness on the face of the deep was the sea floor, which it is today. There would be sun on the face of waters but not on the face of the deep. The 4th day is the day that the purpose and authorship of the selestial bodies was announced, not the day they were placed. The appearance of light the first day was the day that the water that covered the continents became shallow enough to light the surface of the earth as the new ocean basins were opening.

There is nothing sacred about sex or conception. People all over the Earth throughout human history have had sex and babies, without ever knowing anything about Jesus. In fact, in the OT sex usually leads to a very bad result and in the NT it doesn't exist at all except for Paul's admonition to go ahead and do it if you have to, but marry first. The bible talks about beating your slaves and the rules on if they die. No one has to buy your book. The bible is clear on it. It also condones: Incest, Genocide and child sacrifice. If you have to have that explained to you then you are beyond hope.

The Bible doesn't preach any of those things. You consistently misstate every single aspect of slavery in the Old Testament. That is deliberate. All of the passaged deleted from the Slave Bible refer to indentured servitude between fellow Israelite males only. Christian slave owners referred to the slaves as the children of Ham, condemned to eternal servitude.

Cut the dishonest crap. The Bible does condone slavery, owning of other human beings as property. There is no way to clean that up.

If you look at any concordance, the Hebrew "I am" of Yahweh, is not the Greek "I am" of John. They are entirely different concepts and John was not written in Hebrew.
