Spaghettios were a comfort food for me growing up. I spent a lot of time in hospitals, and my mom used to bring me spaghettios in a thermos bottle to give me a break from the hospital food. I'm 55 now, and I still associate them with my mom, and with comfort, so I usually have a can or two in the pantry for bad days when I want some comforting for whatever reason. I'll have to try this, though. It looks yummy.
This video hits so close to home on multiple levels. .. Cook...Italian food lover.lived in Italy for 6 years and embraced the culture...American nostalgia food as well. ❤ this
That was really fun, Giada. I appreciate your calm, relaxed presentation, too. My nephews will love this recipe & the "sailor knot" noodles are perfect.
Things have been very stressful in my life lately, and I find watching your cooking videos very relaxing and comforting. I appreciate your gift for cooking and informing people on how to incorporate new recipes into their lives. Happy 2024!
So much better than what's inside that can! No GMO soybean oil, high fructose corn, disodium phosphate & MSG. I bet restaurants could make decent money using this recipe. 🤤
I had bought a can of Spaghetti-Oh's a couple of years ago after maybe 40 years of not having it. I forgot how SWEET the sauce is. It really is marketed for kids!
I love Tillamook Cheddar! Cheese toast on honey wheat with extra sharp slices is a fave little treat sometimes. BTW, my mom and I cooked up a batch of your latest Giada's Italian Helper (the one from here on youtube last month) on New Years and it was a smashing success! Having grown up with the occasional (and sometimes often) hamburger helper and spaghetti-o's meals, these wonderful variations of recipes that you are creating and sharing with us inspires me to eat better and to cook more and to try new things. Thank you Giada! Say hi to Bella for me too :) Hurry back...
Growing up my mom bought spaghettios and i remember loving it. We ate it for lunch once a week on Saturdays. Weiird how i remember that. But i haven't ate it since i was like 13. I never bought it for my son so hes never eaten it either.
As a kid in the 70's, I grew up eating Chef Boyardee Spaghettio-O's, and loved it. But when I tried it as an adult for old times sake, it didn't taste the same. So either my taste buds changed, or they changed the recipe. What you made here looks pretty tasty. I do still like to eat Chef Boyardee Ravioli's. How about doing a show on that one ?
Yummy, thank you for sharing. Will be making this defo😊.nice to see you on your own cooking, if you know what I mean😂, no distractions. ❤ from Rosie O from a frosty Devon, England 🏴 x
I'm sure that's absolutely delicious...but it isn't Spaghettios. 😂 I get it, fresher, healthier, all that, but it doesn't even have spaghetti rings in it. I love spaghettios and as a quick snack it's easy and quick. All that being said, I would eat the hell out of that dish. 😍
The fact that you tasted it and didn’t realize it’s so sweet because of sugar is astounding. You should’ve added sugar to make it more spaghetti o like.
I like mac n cheese but I find sausage gives its an extra kick. You don’t need to eat canned food to enjoy life and spaghettiios is an inspiration to take Italian dining to the next level! 😊
I do not live in a small town. I can't find these tomatoes or pasta, so having to make do. BUT it would be nice if these recipes took into account towns of about a million or so people's shopping experience, for those not on the coasts.
Happy belated 24, I'm sure convinced altho I was thinking a "Missal Toe" would not make any sence unless it had ithiere you or Merlin Monroe under it! Don't really know about this "Grace Kelly! Oh, ya & Ac/Dc got there name from a Sowing machine! Of all things! You know the ones w/ the foot pedal!
She didn’t eat canned food because her family is very rich. Her grandfather was one of the most prolific movie producers in Hollywood at the time she was born. Look up Dino De Laurentiis. He also owned many restaurants. I’m not knocking her at all. I think she is an amazing talent, but if you think how on earth could she not eat SpaghettiOs at some point in her childhood? That’s the reason.
That spaghettios you're holding is NOT the spaghettios people grew up with in the 70's, 80's, & 90's. It's been reformulated countless times since the days it was actually popular. No one really buys spaghettios today.
I love your videos, but I do have one critique. The audio is a bit too low. At times I have trouble hearing what you're saying. Otherwise, excellent content and you have a new subscriber.
Charming, gorgeous and can cook. The dream. Just beautiful. It takes a little longer and as much as I liked spaghetti o’s as a kid that definitely seems like it would be way better.
I was born in 1970 like you were. The canned pastas I ate as a kid in the 70's and 80's (including of course SpaghettiOs) were SOOOOOOOO much more delicious back then than they are now. Its not fair to compare this current garbage to what we used to eat 40+ years ago. They may go by the same name, but they are totally different products. Anyone can make a better version of modern SpaghettiOs. Try making a better version of 70/80's SpahgettiOs (aka, the real thing).
Spaghettios are cheap and high in sodium and sugar. Who doesn't like a warm, hot and cheap meal? Another commenter mentioned the chef boyardee food label, it's like companies were trying to put Italy in a can for a cheap price lol.
I started watching and then you went into how you were going to "improve" it. We've eaten this for decades it doesn't need improvement. I know it's not real spaghetti, but it's canned spaghetti and I want that sweet simple sauce I've eaten forever. I started to watch this figuring if it you were doing Spaghetti O's that meant you were also doing Franco America Spaghetti which is a childhood favorite of mine.
If you can get garbage like Franco Amaerican and Chef Boyardee in a can why not this and many other recipes that don't include pasta. How about canned saurbratten. It's just well done beef and gravy with different spices. You can already buy beef and gravy in a can. I get that demand for more exotic and specific recipes could be an issue but Giadda's recipe shares at least 80% commonality with Spagettios ingrediants. I would pay a bit extra to have something that was actually good that was shelf stable and can just be heated and served in a few minutes anywhere. By the way Aldi's canned pasts are way better than CB and cheaper.
True. However, Walmart carries the tomatoes for $2.50 Colavita brand, and you could use small shells for .98. Still homemade and quality, while being inexpensive. The Annie’s brand of spaghettios is almost $4 a can, so it works out better if you make a big pot like this yourself.
@@samanthalatourette8322True however thats not at ALL what she used which was the point. What she made was $20 spaghettios that he didn't even like! 😂
Being that my grandmother was 100% Sicilian and mom being 50% Sicilian and all my Sicilian family cooked incredible Italian food, I never tried spaghetti os until I was a teenager in the late 1970'sor maybe even in high school in the early '80s. I can honestly say that whoever makes that can of whatever it is, should be in prison for trying to poison people with something that is using the name spaghetti but is nothing like spaghetti. It is isnt fit for a dog to eat. It's like saying American Cheese is cheese. I like American cheese and at least they tell you it's processed cheese. There is no reason ever to eat Spaghetti Os. How hard is boiling some pasta in water and heating a jar of sauce if you cant make homemade sauce? Giada has disappointed me a few other times but this one is the final straw. She should be ashamed and stop saying she's Italian
I’m sure this is better than Spaghettios, but that’s a low, a very low bar to shoot for; and you barely made it. When did real chefs start trying to make garbage? Oh wait… real chefs don’t.
Can anyone actually take people seriously who've never had spaghettios before? Give me a break. I want to like this but find him especially distasteful. Sick of celebrities as a whole.
i pay my favorite lot lizard with a 12 pack of spaghettios, for services rendered...i get to w. memphis arkansas a couple of times a month, to see my darling laquita...
I remember when they came out in the 60's. The commercial jingle went "The neat, new spaghetti you can eat with a spoon. Uh oh, SpaghettiOs!"
I stumbled on to your show when my son was a few months old, and it related me.
Still does!
And he's 18 now!

You can't imagine how delicious this was as a treat when Backpacking in the wilderness for a couple weeks.
I’m Italian American and have never eaten pasta from a can in my life. Your version looks delicious, Giada.
I get it. Italian here too. Never ventured near spaghettios as a kid either. Your take is interesting. Looks comforting.
That looks soooo good!! We also never had spaghettios, jarred sauce.
Guadalupe,… you have the cutest teeth. I like your calm demeanor while you cook too.
Man… She was pretty years ago but she seems to have really grown into herself, she’s absolutely gorgeous now

Hi, Giada. Still one of the most beautiful smiles ever!
My boys love the spaghettios w/meatballs and of course cheese.

Giada? Yeah, I agree. I would too, gladly.
I like to brown some ground chuck then add a can of spaghettio’s. It is really good! I have several cans in my cupboard.
The fact that you tasted it and didn’t realize it’s so sweet because of sugar is astounding. You should’ve added sugar to make it more spaghetti o like.
My fave
I am in my 50’s and I love spaghetti’s. Your dish looks delicious, maybe I will attempt it sometime.
Yes you totally should try it!
At the end when you said, pasta, tomato and Shauwcse I was like, she’s been in jersey. Lol
45 years go was the 1978. We were pretty well accepted in the US by them.
No surprises here. I have never seen gatekeeping like an Italian chef.
That looks sooooo yummy!!! Where can I buy those cute pasta noodles?❤
Thanks! You can get them here: giadzy.com/products/setaro-gnocchetti-napoletani-2-2-lbs

Even when I was a kid, I knew the Spaghetti-Os sauce was kinda gross and I tried to doctor it up. Can’t wait to try this recipe.
Such a fun recipe! You have to try it out :)
I love the way you slobber all over yours spoons and then drop them back in the gravy
My closet was maggie noodles 😄 then aussie can heinz spagetti and baked beans
As someone who grew up with spaghetti O's, I guarantee this is way better.. but it's not at all the same
Ettore Boiardi (Chef Boyardee) was a great Italian chef!
Hey girl- this looks so yummy!! Great job! 😉😁 Love ya🥰
Thank you 😋
Your awesome. Thanks for showing me doctored up spaggettio's. 😋👍
Any time! 😄
Neat round spaghetti.You go girl,❤
Well, my cat loves spagettios 😂
Plrase Turn recording volume up.
Hey I grew up on this stuff! Better eating it cold LOL! Will definitely try your recipe as adult taste is more refined!
Let me know what you think :)
you don't smile all the time like you used to?! hahaha! mwah!

Agreed!
I add Wendy's BBQ SAUCE 👌 its the best...
How do you stay so gorgeousness and eat so many carbs.........?????????????
What about chef boyaydee beefaroni, let’s see your version
Spaghetti-Os are yucky. 🤮 YOUR recipe is mega superior.
She's too dang cute!
Ideally, I'd be looking over your shoulder but that's just how I like to cook~!!!
You're very courageous eating that directly out of the can, not heated, nothing added etc...
"Ut oh...spaghetti-o's"
Yikes!
Giada, who makes your shirt ? Thanks
I did you’re welcome
What happened to the spaghetti o's ?

Always glad to get to see you love you're Beautiful EYES and Smile 👁️👁️😁
Peak post-modernism... thinking a Spaghettio's can has "kind of an Andy Warhol thing to it" because he made art with Campbell's soup cans.
Lately, I found myself on a diet. Food is so expensive, so I am now on a
Can Food Diet
That sure looks good and taste yummy but it is no way like Spaghetti Os. You don't even have the Os pasta.

Beefaroni is way better than SpaghettiO’s! Just saying!👍🤣👍
Is anyone else wondering why she is using a cutting board on top of a cutting board on top of the counter?? 😅🤷♀️😂🤣

I miss the old UA-cam where celebrities did not flood the UA-cams.
Whatever you do, never eat pork rinds with SpaghettiOs. Not a good pairing.
