Grew up eating hamburger helper 3 cheese pasta. Til this day i still make it but also i have made it from scratch too using beef broth and heavy cream to go with it and penne. 1 pot pasta feeds alot of people too. 😋
You went from a $5 dish to a $25 dish.
That Marcapone alone was $6.
I am Filipina so when I make this ... I sautéed ground beef with patis (fish sauce) with ground pepper then I add the onion and garlic . Then I proceed with the recipes on the box and at the end of it I add the cheese . My family loves it .

Giada ... When I was new mom, I relied on your Everyday Italian recipes/tv show to learn how to make homecooked meals for my family. I am forever grateful. I love this recipe because it has the flavor and ease of those early recipes that are so helpful to new homecooks. This dish is something a teenager can make which is great for busy families. I grew up on Hamburger Helper and loved it with buttered bread but homemade has to be sooo much better!

I know the lunch lady at the small private religious school i went to used to make her homemade better version of this, which I think was just Mac and cheese and taco meat, which I loved at the time.
Tomato Basil flavor is the best

The only one I can handle is the four cheese Lasagna because I put garlic,basil or Italian seasoning, black pepper, or red pepper flakes, and a lot of white onion, to try to make it a lil more grown up tasting😂

Giada's version looks totally delish! However in the defense of "Hamburger Helper" her version is probably quintuple the price. So you're missing the point of a dinner intended to accommodate a frugal budget. For some of us money IS an object. 😊

I love hamburger helper. Unfortunately with the rising cost of hamburger this meal is only for the rich and famous.
Music is too loud and distracting.
I use ground chicken or turkey. Healthier and better. Add shredded cheese and a can of diced tomatoes. Still cheap(unlike Giada's, definitely not as good as her's but I have a budget).
Hamburger Helper? It mixes great with stone, brick work or plain cement block.
