The lyrics are on inspired by Ecclesiastes: 1:14; I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind. 3:19 - 20: Surely the fate of human beings is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath ; humans have no advantage over animals. Everything is meaningless. All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return.
Walsh's range was whatever he felt like. Has so much texture to his voice and so many qualities. Booming deeps, ear piecing highs, clean and beautiful and raspy and gritty.
@@Aaron51328 Another time marker for those of us who turned 20 at the time they hit it big. When I saw Kansas in Denver, on 1/15/1978, during Robby's solo, they had installed lights under a sheet of plexiglass. The lights shot up thru his hair andViolin. One of the cooler things at one of my 100 + concerts. R.I.P ROBBY!
I liked how, during the introductions, when the spot was beamed at "Smokin Dave Hope," he blew smoke from his mouth and bowed. Man, you talk about theatrics and stage mastery, that was a perfect example of theirs. I met Dave after the concert, and he's a genuine nice guy. I'm glad I got to see them in their prime, as there will never be another band like them.
W O W! Robby Steinhardt plays the most beautiful violin piece ever written for rock. This song would not be the dreamy, floaty, ethereal song that it is without the talent of Steinhardt. He is the original rock violinist who started orchestra-rock! And he’s damn handsome too!
First time for me was '75 and were on fire .. on a bill with Nugent opening ( before crazy) and the mighty blue oyster cult.. then 78 as headliner and were even better musically and I will never see again as not to diminish my memories of them in prime
I love this ❤ I loved him then and I love him now. There is no match for Steve's voice, from the beginning to his retirement. In my eyes there is no Kansas without Steve.
Cleaning out our basement and just came across my ticket stub from Canada Jam... Concert of a lifetime I'll tell ya! Had to come look up and watch and listen to the videos again. Bought my first of a few Kansas albums the following week!
My brother and I shared a room growing up. He was in HS and graduated in 1978. I was six years behind him. He had a great stereo and you can imagine I was exposed to all the great music of that era. Being from Kansas, this group was always special to me. For many, certain things trigger exact memories of their early years and music does that for me.
Incredible performance by Kansas. If it hasn't been done already, Kansas entire set from this concert deserves an official release if possible. On a side note there were an estimated 110,000 people at Canada Jam.
Matt Man Humans don't get old. They become Elders. Those with wisdom and experience that can lend a helpful word or 2. Hope you're having a grand day mate.
That looks like my dad in !982 while cutting our grass, cooking on the grill and drinking roughly a 12 pack in our Florida trailer park. LOL. Sadly, he died from alcoholism in 2018. Seeing this makes me smile. Oh, and its a fucking great song.
One of my favorites from when I was in grade school and junior high on my way to Rosary High school those were the years dancing with friends life so simple just one unkown girl in a big mix of girls dancing with their dads at dad daughter date nights those dances will all be special place in my heart . MaryAnn Bernadette aka Mariann Bernsdette .
Samantha they are still touring, doing some smaller shows this year and ticket prices are reasonable. You should go! I took my daughter for her 18th birthday ( her request!) and we love them!
WHO is the deaf and musically impaired individual who voted DOWN this stellar live performance from the band at the very hight of their gifts?? I pity that poor person because, obviously, they are too impaired to enjoy possibly the greatest rock band ever. EVER.
Ignore, there are some miserable people in the world and they wish for everyone to be as pathetic and miserable as them, sucks for them because we'll enjoy it! : )
What a fantastic live version of a timeless classic. Great band, great songs. Kansas are one of my all time favourite bands. Too bad that Kansas couldn't recapture the magic on subsequent albums following "Left Overture". Absolutely brill. Thanks for posting this kansasVevo. These videos from the Canada Jam are some of the best for viewing. Steve is on fire. Is there video of the complete concert that can be posted? I love watching these although Kansas had always been great. Our younger days enable us to do things we can only think about now but that energy the band had at this time was off the hook. Steve, your still great in my book but back then, you were hot, hot, hot! Thank you. You added substance to my younger days.
The older we get the more we understand how true this song is.
Same here. Maturing

My guy ran straight from gym class to the stage and nailed this song. And the violinist straight killed his solo
So they were in high school then and that was there school?
@@mistardoyle3042 No. I was just kidding 😊…the lead singer looks like he just came back from running laps in his gym uniform in gym class

When Robbie plays violin it's like the angels are playing.
Nothing but pure raw talent. Brings me to tears every single time
These guys were singing WHILE, playing guitar, tambourines, violins, pianos, etc in between 😮😮
Walsh's range was whatever he felt like. Has so much texture to his voice and so many qualities. Booming deeps, ear piecing highs, clean and beautiful and raspy and gritty.
This lead singer had one of the best rock voices ever. One of my favorite songs.
Reminds me a lot of the lead singer of foreigner- forget his name.

Steve Walsh is incredible. One of my favorite singers of all time. This version of Dust In The Wind is fantastic.
@@SuperStrik9 Great legs, too.....
Robby Steinhardt as harmony is perfect, too.
I was so fortunate to see them in concert in VA in 1979. Wow. They blew us away.
I was born a few decades to late
This is one of the greatest songs ever... Kansas is an amazing band
One of my lifelong favorite bands
You could tell Robby SteinHardt really loved playing the violin RIP

Awesome video and band
I agree completely
2nd best. The best is in my opinion Jethro Tull "Heavy Horses"
In their time, the live shows of Kansas took on a reputation as being legendary.
This song was written 8 years before i was born and yet it belongs to me, to my life and i never want to miss it. Thank you so much ❤🔥
That was beautiful Robbie’s violin solo at the end was so haunting and Steve had some great ad libs🎤🎻🎶
I was at Canada jam at 3 am before the start of the event, and they came out for a sound check. No more than 300 people there. Epic!
They're just real musicians!!! all of them
Defo!
I see the so called artists that are popular today. In a word " Talentless "
Thought I would mention that I had the same tube socks and short shorts back in the day and it’s crazy to see them all come back in style today!

A soundtrack to our lives! Such a masterpiece of a song!
No doubt. This masterpiece belongs to my day by day playlist.
