Secrets of the Camino de Santiago - Francis of Assisi

Many people know Francis of Assisi (1181-1226).
Very few people know that he made a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in 1214 in search of the meaning of his life.
In this video I tell that story and another episode from the Fioretti -- a collection of stories about him and his first followers - the wolf of Gubbio.
After coming to Assisi for the first time 40 years ago when I was 13, I left again in 2023 for Assisi and Gubbio.

I also didn't know the details about Francescos pilgrimage to Santiago. In Wikipedia you don't find anything about it. But this was actually the point in his life when he realized that he should buiild monasteries in the whole world.

I liked the film of St. Francis where the actress Judi Bowker played St. Clare.
The early Franciscans came to Ireland around the time of his death.
There are 3 churches on the river Suir called Suir valley Franciscans at
Waterford, Carrick and Clonmel.
Two of them are temporarily closed but a new order of American nuns l think are in Waterford.
The artist Giotto and his paintings always remind me of Francis.
