Apparently, his work is not for everyone (friends ask me to turn him off), but he strikes a deep chord for me and I love the counterpoint between self-effacement and proud outrage.

John could have made himself the next Pogo 🤡 if he didn’t turn to music. He wrote a lot of beautiful breakup songs that all vengeful serial killers should listen to. You could regard them as a dirge. His voice is very soothing and redeeming as well.

Ten years on and still it hasn't reached a million views. I'm baffled and a little sad.
He is definitely unique. This song specifically depicts his intelligence and sensitivity. When I listened to it for the first time, I felt deeply moved. An amazing pianist too.
Lyrics're great, but, it's not the main reason I simply can't stop crying. It's, because of his Voice and purpose! I realized I wasted my precious time called "creative life", just because I was at the wrong place at the wrong time. No remorse, long live the John! T h a n k Y o u
i cannot stop coming back to this song. this version is particularly wonderful on a grand piano. and the way his voice just cracks a bit with emotion at the end rounds off brilliantly an extraordinarily moving piece of work.
So f__king great. John holds this song in his hands like clay and though it's subjectively "sad" you hear playfulness within its delivery. Such an artist and uplifting presence.
It is one of the greatest songs yet written. 'You have to play your part my dear, I've written it all down for you' is one of the saddest lines I've ever heard. John knows it will never work, but the other guy doesn't. Plus it's the most beautiful song I can sing in one key and I have a rubbish voice. It is a work of genius.
