  • Hello everyone and thank you for coming back to the channel. I'm using the day as we got plunged back into the deep freeze to get some editing done. I recently upgraded my computer and editing software so I'm essentially starting from scratch again as far as filming and editing.
    Our Beloved Merida Dragon went to a new home last week and since we don't have any large shows till later this year, we opted to build a big brother to her.
    I'm super excited to do this as I feel that my skills as a blacksmith and metal sculptor are far more advanced than my first dragon a few years ago, although we will miss our Merida, I am extremely excited to create this new fantastic beast. It will have fully forged claws and webbing between the toes, the wings will be skeletonized with portions of forged steel flesh between.
    I will be back into the shop this weekend and hopefully will have Video #2 uploaded early next week, I've already made more progress since the filming of this video.
    As always thank you all so much for checking in and the comments and compliments, it really truly means the world to me.
    Chris

    Another inspiring art piece with great utilization of various tooling.
    BowUng may work for a name. Vikings had a Dragon head carved onto the bow of their ship and Ung is like skekUng.

    Looks really awesome Chris! Maybe good weather to keep the forge working the next few days. Think I'll fire mine up in the morning for a bit I need to do just to warm the shop up enough that the radiant heat can keep up. Looking forward to the next segment of this build.

    Hi Chris I've made Dragon heads from square bar , and that was hard enough to do . Watching you make it from sheet metal well that is at a higher level . Mate your work is awesome and a pleaser to watch . Cheers :)

    One of my current projects is forging an Archaeopteryx, but much smaller than your dragon. I'm confident I will get some great ideas from your series, and thanks as always for sharing your processes.

    Love love love your work and I enjoy watching every minute of your videos. Several I rewatch many times to study your techniques.
    Q: when you use MiG to texture, are you dialing down the heat and/or increasing your wire feed speed to achieve this “sputtered” deposition of metal? If not, what settings are you using for your MiG process?

    • @wrotiron
      @wrotiron  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you so so much I really appreciate it. And honestly on the mig I found that the spatter texture works better if you slightly increase the heat and just leave the wire speed alone. After practicing with it there's actually kind of an art form to it as far as the speed of which you move your gun you can control the size of the spatter. Hope that helps and thank you again

      It is complete, we ended up finishing on tiktok I'll share the video on here as a short. At that time things got sideways and I wasn't able to commit to filming long segments.
