That would have been so much better, but my Wisconsin made machine doesn't have that high technology. Could've faked it, except SOMEBODY went and ruined that for the rest of us...
@@TheFabricatorSeries you're absolute right, i cant even begin to imagine how long it took to weld all those joints/seams. cold mig would have saved Tim hours of welding just like in those videos ... would like to see some lukewarm tig soon lol
I love seeing things made! One suggestion though: way too many channels do the "don't show the final piece until the end". It feels cheap and "click-baity" to me. I would like to see the final form right from the start, and, if that piques[*] my real interest, watch the whole process. Hey... you asked for comments! :-) Nice to see you try new things for the channel. Keep it up!!! Edit: now that I reached the end... nice... I might actually copy this one, as I happen to have some similar looking scraps, and seems easy enough as to accommodate my short attention spans :-D Thanks Tim!!! [*] Edit: piques, not peaks. Thanks @Moondog 1970!
That's were we're different. I prefer not seeing the finished product till the end. I think it takes some of the excitement away to see it in the beginning. However, some videos explain what is about to be made, which is a good compromise.
Suggestions: 1) Tabs and slots for the feet instead of welded so they can be removed and stored inside the BBQ for space saving if stored or transported. 2) I have a folding BBQ that has side panels that don't go all the way to the bottom and live coals sometimes spill out through that gap, so having them more of a semi circle to the bottom could prevent that.
Way to heavy for as small as it is. I made a BBQ pit way lighter out of an old tool box I jest put some bolts screwed in the sides to hold the screen drill holes in the top for vents. Everything fit in the tool box locks and can keep in the truck of a car ready for beach, park what not and way lighter then that. The tool box I bought a garage sale for $5 buck. I know it's not scrap metal but if you have any type of metal box around it can easily be made into a BBQ pit box. Just cut hole on the bottom and top to vent it. A hobo stove could be easily be made out of pip with a screen just cut a hole on the bottom so you can feed or put wood on the bottom it will get real hot fast like a rocket stove.
A tennis ball canon. Made one once. For the fun of it, I took ten tennis rackets and lined them up. I charged the canon with M-80 and fired it at the rackets. The ball went through six rackets, so I loaded it up again and us a quarter stick. I lit the fuse and ran like hell. Got behind my truck just in time. The ball went through all ten rackets and kept on going. The pipe, never did find that.
Cool video and thank you I really learned a lot from you I am welding with my ffa chapter and am really good at it and it was all from your stick welding video
What would be nice if you had access to a platinum sputtering machine. It would never rust . Such a small amount of platinum will be needed. The razor blades are done that way
If I save it, I don’t call it scrap metal (or plastic, or wood, or…). I call it “stock”. Since those 25% tariffs on metal came about several years ago, metal prices have soared. Even small pieces can be too valuable to throw away. And if you have some leftover short pieces such as the 1” by 1/8” that Tim used as feet, and need a longer piece, you can weld them end to end, on both sides, and have a long piece that’s as strong as the original. Cool little grill, Tim.
Variety is nice, but I do really like your normal educational style. Happily I bought your course bundle a few days ago - good so far but no comments section to ask clarifying questions 😁 Thanks for clearing up the 7018 thing, I thought they plain old wouldn't work without the oven, even for just basic fabrication.
Thanks! I'm not moving away from my normal tutorial videos in general, just mixing it up a bit. So glad you're liking the courses! Feel free to email me if you have any questions or feedback on the course, and I'm usually able to respond relatively quickly. (timweldsonline@gmail.com)
I’m always learning welding watching your videos. Nice BBQ. I was thinking that was going to be a BBQ when you cut the steel for the briquettes. Well done.
turned out great! I toss Very Little - it's great to get an idea and have all the parts On Hand - nuts/bolts - wire - switch - sheet metal - pipe - tube - angle - flat stock a clean and straight 2 x 4 - good size scrap of plywood - 'all the parts. I turn on the 'tunes' and grab a beer and Wa- La 😆 I subbed - gonna see what else you've built
Tim….. your talent is amazing! Love the product and new video format….. I am trying to do a no talking video on my channel as well….. you have set a new standard with this one✅👍👌
Cool video. I enjoy watching others make/fab stuff ( surprising what you can learn when you listen with your eyes.) I looked thru your video list and didn’t see anything about the horizontal grinder thing. What is it? Where to get it? What about the abrasive wheel as well. Please let me know, I’m extremely interested.
Tip: if you wanna cut something small and you can't hold both ends, point the part you aren't holding downwards, so it doesn't accidentally fly and poke someone's eye or gets lost.
I thought it would be a mini barbecue. Nice piece of pipe to start off with. The engineer I do work with bought a nice European stick welder. Similar to what I had my mind on purchasing. I
So NEAT -- THANKS! That is so perfect for all the campers and bachelor(ette)s and apartment dwellers, etc.! Perfect gift, too! By the way, can I ask a COMPLETELY UNRELATED QUESTION concerning welding ground clamps? Over the years, I have replaced all my grounding clamps with the super strong cast brass(?) type because those are so bullet proof and secure. I have always wondered why those heavy duty brass clamps have a sort of "duck bill" design, where the bottom piece protrudes about 1/2 inch past the top piece, making it kind of awkward for many projects. Why are these designed that way? There are many makers, but an example would be the Berger 63849 clamp at HF. Call me dumb, but I tend to cut that protruded part off, flush with the top, first thing. Thanks for your great videos.
Very good, but unless you have the tools you have, particularly that cutter and rotary grinder it's cheaper to go to B&Q but you wouldn't get a heavy duty job like you made, it was a good job.
The Jimmy Diresta video editing methodology. Nicely done. Honestly I like your previous discussion based educational videos as well as these visual only videos. A nice balance of each would be ideal for my taste. Very well done, and as always, thanks for the video.
You could also use the other side of the pipe as a lid. Nice work 🙂
I can't believe you didn't cold MIG those grille rods on...
disgraceful aint it Justin

Hey Tim, it's nice to see you put out a video without any talking. You surprised me. Nice job dude.
Love this format! More please!
One man's scrap is another man's stock. Love the execution!
Thanks man. New welder here.
Very cool to me.
I work at a STEM middle/high school as a teachers aide and some of my day is spent in shop class and these are fun and interesting to watch!
I would hardly consider that pipe "scrap metal", as it's perfectly good! 😊
Totally! It was someone else's scrap, which made this all the more fun.
Agreed! He used what to me would be a wealth of materials! But I’m just a high functioning scavenger…

Clean pipe is the safest way to go and nice to know what possibly ran through it if it is used pipe.
Can you do a firewood stove?
My grandpa used to make those all the time, could be a fun project. Thanks for the suggestion!
It’s nice to watch someone that really knows how to weld. Cool little B-B-Q👍👍👍. Cheers Stuart 🇦🇺

DId you throw some high temp paint on it since you cleaned all that rust off?
Are the bars for the grill stainless or just carbon steel?
What tool was he using to grind the outside of the pipe?
Tim where did you find that big a-- piece of steel pipe. I can never find anything like that.
Do you have any more if this bug tube stock? I need some…
What was big grinder in the beginning? .. I need one

very nice job. I would swap the round bar for squares for the grill because the sear marks are bolder
Great bit of kit, and it’ll never rot being that thick.👌😎🏆
