Subscribed and really hopes this works out well. I had a ‘78 and a’79. I would like to own another one one day. When they announced the 7.3 engine I was thinking about this very swap.
COOL! Just subscribed. This is going to be really good. Don't spare the details. I still remember the first time I saw a 78 Bronco. I couldn't believe it, so much more truck than the original Bronco. I'm in Canada. All the old Broncos here have long since rusted to dust. Someday I'll get one from Florida. A 7.3 would be amazing.
Very interested in this swap for my 1995 bronco with the 351w & E4OD with the B&G1356, can't wait to see how this comes along & how similar or not the chassis & components are from 79 to 95. Almost purchased a wrecked F250 a couple months back with this engine and all the parts needed for this swap but backed out at the last minute due to unknowns, hopefully this build will answer some my questions
I own a 95 bronco 5.0 and am interested in a swap, are you not satisfied with the 351, have you consider the 427, or coyote? Why are you leaning towards the 7.3 instead, I hear it has issues with the 10 speed, does that concern you?
I have heard so much about the variable compressors not working with early type or aftermarket AC systems. I have one on my Raptor Crate engine in my '66 F100 and it works just fine! Stock 2018-20 F150 Compressor. 10R80 auto also using stock pcm. Lot less $ than the aftermarket kits. Cool swap! Subscribed!
Keep posting I have 73 f100, I have the motor in just need to figure out everything else lol. Controllers are an issue with this build as it's still relatively new.
You’re doing a service to the OBS Ford community. However it is still too new of an engine for community members to justify the cost of the 7.3 I think in about 5 years, the cost of the engine will be just right and the aftermarket will have caught up to make this “swap” a lot more attainable to more enthusiast.
I'm so torn right now with my brick nose 91 build. I dont know whether its worth it to build the 5.8 or go through this and swap a mild 7.3 into it. Lots of pluses and minuses on both sides but thank you for the videos!
A better swap would be a 70 429 with some up grades ,such as roller cam ,head work,n Holley fuel injection. The 429 will bolt right up to the can motor mounts are easily fabricated n the oil pan needs to be clearance at the front .You can use stock accessories on front of motor.
Thank you for the video, any input that you can send my way I’m wanting to do the same thing to a1996 bronco. Also what are you guys doing for motor mounts and crossmember?
We're going to be custom building the mounts and crossmember. We plan to manufacture them and make them available to DIY customers, however this first set will be specific to the dent side frames. After we get this one done we'll move on to other platforms, the later Broncos are definitely on our list but TBD when we get to them.
What a great idea and an answer to a question I've had for a while, (how to modernize an awesome platform?). I am curious, though, are you keeping the NP 205? Also, if possible this early in the build, can you guestimate the cost of the build? Thank you for any answers you can give.
We wanted to run an Atlas transfer case but they are 4-6 months out on lead time so we're going to use the NP205 for now. We may switch it to an Atlas later once the lead times get back down, it is interchangeable with the NP205. As for cost... still working it out but the parts total will be somewhere in the $15k range just for the 7.3L swap.
@@WellSortedAutomotive Thank you for that info. After watching you video I spent about 6 hours falling down the research rabbit hole, looking at different engine/transmission combos, but there was little mention of transfer cases. I will be interested in following this project through to the end. Thank you for sharing.
@@WellSortedAutomotive There are clearance problems with NP205 front driveshaft & 4R100. You might encounter the same...a 203/205 double fixes the issue. Good luck, I'm excited to see how this turns out.
Possible source of assistance. This U-toober was able to swap a Godzilla into what looks like a Crown Vic and used the factory stock ECM from the car after he swapped in another crank position wheel. Hope it helps. ua-cam.com/video/xeFp_DZMx6o/v-deo.html
There's currently no aftermarket controller for the 10R80 and Ford hasn't released a controls pack for the engine so the only solution is the 6R80 with a standalone controller.
@@WellSortedAutomotive OK. I thought that's why. US Shift might have one in beta. Ford has one for the Coyote. Hopefully Ford comes out with a decent control pack for the Godzilla soon.
Good thing this is Godzilla in engine terms, not car terms. I'm sure if there was an infringement on trademarked Godzilla, Nissan would've sued. Congrats on producing the dumbest comment on the internet 4 days ago
7.3L FTW! Looking forward to following this.
Absolutely Feckin Awesome
Yesssss, I want to do the 5.4 Triton out and 7.3 into 2004 F250
This is my same mission but on an 01 ext cab manual
Have you driven one with a new 7.3, they are insane....
04 f150 here🤣
Awesome project, thanks for sharing, I’m looking to install one of these in a 68 4 door Lincoln, I’ll be watching and sharing with my buddies.
Holy shit what a swap. I'm thinking about building a mild 351w to swap into my bronco. But damn this would be sick!

Florida isn't a good hunting ground, salt air pretty much wipes out everything there too. Go for the southwest... Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah
Thanks
I look forward to part two!
Would appreciate a follow up video on this build and how it turned out, I am considering this on my 95' Bronco instead of the 351 W
Thanks for the video. Look forward to the next one!
Very interested to see how this goes. Especially the fabrication needed to make this all fit!

Lenger motorsports did this swap in a 1st gen Lightning last year. They just finished a cam swap in it recently. Super great engine design.

Any updates to this build? Very interested.
If you like the 1973 pickup grill it can be interchanged with the Bronco's. Then you can replace the headlights with round halogens.
Excellent video !!!!...
Please keep these videos coming
If that was my bronco I would put a 6 speed manual behind 7.3 and swap the front grill to a 76-77 truck grill that would be my dream bronco

Indy products have what you need mate
i’m trying to build my truck for 7.3 diesel what pump do you recommend?
Much better choice than a Coyote.
Love it
Would this bolt up to a ZF5 trans out of a 97’ ford pickup?
Thanks

It's a godzilla 🐲 😌
7500 for 430 horse seems kind of high for no more hp youre getting. You can build a 351 w and make same power for less.

Can you fit a manual to it
Yes, check out our other project videos, it is almost the exact same truck but the Godzilla is being paired with a TR4050 manual transmission.
funny I thought my 78 bronco was the first full size
How much did that motor cost?
Summit Racing sells the engine for $6850
Collecting the parts to do this on my 85 f250 the idi has got to go

@@GIMPY1977 Okay. That's good news. The 10r140 is a monster and much heavier than the 10r80. I'm looking at using the 10r80 for my Grand Marquis.

Im looking to do this for my 96 ford van. Can find anyone who is willing to do it yet
Godzilla in car terms is only reserved for the Nissan GtR skyline I hate it when americans use other trademarked names for POS engine they make up.

Ignorance is truly bliss.
What’s the price on the total build Motor Trans Rear suspension electronics etc. thanks 👌
I have a 89 fullsize bronco i was going to get a 427W stroker for it.
But the Godzilla is cheaper and comes stock with more horsepower NA
