  • In order to become a skilled hair braider, you absolutely MUST know how to properly #FrenchBraid! In today’s video, I’m going #BackToBasics and giving you an updated, #StepByStep video on how to french braid! Do you prefer the french braid, or the dutch braid?? 💁🏻‍♀️

My family and I have been social distancing from others during these crazy current events! As hard as that’s been, I’ve been loving ‪@BrooklynAndBailey‬ being home (plus it means I have more heads of hair walking around to use for hair tutorials)!
Hairitage product used in the video:
*Hairitage Wiggle Room Flexible Hold Hairspray: shopstyle.it/l/bcocs
    Step by Step Instructions:
Step 1: Separate three sections of hair starting from your hairline.
Step 2: Take the middle piece and move it under the left piece of hair. The original middle piece is now the left piece.
Step 3: Taking the NEW middle piece, now cross under the right section of hair.
Step 4: Scoop more hair from the left side of the head and combine into the left section of hair.
Step 5: Continue to scoop more hair from the sides of the head and combine the hair into the sections of the braid as you move down the head. The middle section always goes under the side sections.
Step 6: As you get to the last of the hair once you’ve reached the neck, continue a normal, 3 strand braid down the length of the hair.
Step 7: Tweak and fluff the braid where necessary, secure fly-aways or wispies with hairspray if desired.

And then i taught myself to Dutch i think once you know how to do French braid you can do a Dutch braid. Now I do braids on my little sister and i have started teaching one of my sisters and i will teach the other one when she is old and i want to thank you for teaching me because my mom can’t do it so now i can do it to my sisters and then we can all do it to our girls in the future. So thank you. LOVE YOU GUYS!!

For me, I accidentally learned how to dutch braid by trying to learn to french braid. Its practically the same technique, just moving the outer strands over the middle piece for a french, or under the middle piece for a Dutch. Turns out I preferred the look of Dutch braids on my hair cause the braid is more prominent on the head and I feel its tighter against the head too.

I started watching these videos when I was 11-12 because my mom didnt have time to do my hair and I got so sick and tired of having my hair in the same 3 hairstyles. I watched some videos, saw that I could do parts of the hairstyles on myself (and at first without Bobby pins or clear elastics), changed the hairstyles to fit doing them on myself and my personality, and fell in love with this channel. I'm in the middle of college right now and 1 of the styles I do a lot I started doing around 10th grade. I still get compliments on it to this day when I've gotten it down to 2-3 minutes, at least before I cut my hair so it is harder to do now.

Hey Mindy! I am not sure how feasible this may be as I know you are crazy busy, but it would be awesome if you opened a blow-dry bar franchise that used the Hairitage line to wash and style hair into the hairstyles from your videos. It would be a combination of what you have already done during the Walmart meet-and-greet and before the Hairitage launch party! I know that I'd definitely love something like that for prom or other formal events, as I like to watch your videos but have difficulty doing the hairstyles on myself or finding someone to do them on me. Maybe you could offer makeup services, too!
It would also be really cool if you made a video about a male hair-care routine with Daxton or Shaun and address whether there are any differences! I hope you and your family are well and safe during the quarantine!

Just a suggestion I think if the camera angle is a bit higher we could see the strands a little easier. Nonetheless thanks for the tutorial! Could you do one for how to French braid on yourself? My fingers get all confused behind my head. 🥰

I never understood the French braid. But your tip about the middle piece always goes under is great, ive never heard that before!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I've watched so many other videos and they all made this SO complicated!! I was able to do it on the first try here! I've been able to do a Dutch braid since high school (I've got my own kids now) and have just never been able to pick up the French braid but you guys just showed me how easy it is!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!! I taught myself how to french braid when I was 12, and just went with how I taught myself, but there was always something off with my braid..... it was your trick of always putting the middle piece under while braiding. It solved my issue in seconds!
