takes me right back, ever since seeing the trailer on the sega gt 2002 / JSRF combo disc.. I still have my xbox that I got since launch.. and picked up this game shortly after seeing that trailer. the 'Crusher' track by Junkie-XL ft. Saffron still gives me the chills...
After finding my Xbox in a second hand shop. Quantum Redshift was the first game I put in it and play! The graphics did not aged at all, truly amazing!
So many gems from the 6th gen and early '00s... those were the days you preach all around but todays kids wont get it, they never will...i love the fact that we had so many underappreciated gems like this, games that you could have bypassed so so easily at the time only for them to find their way into publicity some 20 years later (in a time of inspirational poverty where everyone has to look back to see the very thing that overflowed the world bk then and is so missing now and not only video games but music and movies too) and finally reap the recognition and appreciation they deserved in their era. I grew up with an OG Xbox as a teenager but never knew this game even existed until about ten years ago when I stumbled on a copy for £1. I wasn't expecting much from it but thought I'd give it a go for that price, I couldn't believe how a game this good could be so overlooked, it is so much fun.
Hey Camp Xbox, I really like your reviews and how concise and objective they feel. However, If I can give a suggestion, when you talk about music and sound design, I would like you to pause the narration for a moment and let us have some audio samples. That would be awesome. Thanks!
When I started digging through the console's backlog this was one of the most pleasant surprises. Just a solid AG racer with a really clever item system, what's not to like? The character interactions are what I remember most though. So many of the characters are awful to each other or just in general. Spoilers for anyone who cares about the story of Quantum Redshift I guess? . . . . . . . . . . When I found out that the cover athlete killed another pilot's parents in a drunk driving accident I -lost it-. What a wild thing to put in your video game, the most 2000s-ass surprise edge imaginable. And they even try to make her a bit sympathetic when you play her route! I immediately picked her rival and blew her to pieces in the finale.
Good seeing you covering this one my friend, a terrific review & enticing! I have this in my Xbox collection but have never tried it. Your video really shows how fantastic it is! I thought all this time Ii own "Fatal Inertia", when in fact it is this "Quantum Redshift".
Man how did I mess this video lol Quantum Redshift is one of my fav OG Xbox games. It's such a great game, so polished with an incredible sense of speed. Funny story, this is the only game that I've ever seen my non-gamer wife play on her own. I bought it when it came out and was playing it a lot and she started playing with me with us taking turns on races or even racing each other sometimes and she was GOOD at it lol. I remember the first time I came home from work and she was playing the game by herself when I walked in. I got so excited because I thought maybe I was finally turning her into a bit of a gamer, but nope, it was just Quantum Redshift 🤣🤣

I ignored this at the time for whatever reason, but played it on my modded Xbox in the recent past. I agree that it's really good, but I don't think it has enough personality to be memorable. It's just... I dunno, missing _something._ It honestly reminded me a TON of a forgotten PS2-future racer called "Power Drome" (that's so forgettable I forgot what it was called and physically had to get up just now to search my gaming shelf for the case, lol). It too has great, clean visuals and smooth, responsive handling, plus a focus on characters... but it was just lacking something. I miss high speed future racers, but whenever I think of them, I think of PSX/N64 era games like WipeOut, Extreme-G and Star Wars Episode 1 Racer; I don't think of PS2/Xbox era games at all, and I feel bad because I know they're GOOD. But stuff like Power Drome, Quantum Redshift and even sequels to earlier games like Star Wars Racer Revenge or XG3 just suffer from some kind of blandness, imho. I feel the same way about modern future racers too; FAST Neo is somehow memorable, but AntiGraviator and RedOut just aren't for some reason. I like this game, and it's one I do play every once in awhile when firing up the modded Xbox. It's nice to discover a great, high-quality, and fun example of a genre that's largely dead nowadays... but it's just not quite there. It's a much better racing game than Tao Feng is a fighter, but it sits in the same boat for me; an Xbox exclusive with LOADS of potential that really could've used a sequel or two to find it's personality and style. Or take whatever personality it HAS here and push it until it really _pops,_ y'know? You'll never confuse an Xbox 1 era Microsoft exclusive with, like, a Sega or Namco racer from the time. The "Y2K/Millennium aesthetic" here is just too _soft_ somehow.
One of my favourite Xbox games. I got it after reading the review in the Official Xbox Mag (UK). I loved the Wipeout series on the PS, so it was a no brainer. I still stick it in the OG Xbox every now and then...hours later I'm still playing. For me the best ship is Ami's...sublime handling, but all the vehicles have their something that makes them fun to use. And the ultimate upgrade ...its like firing a mini nuke. I got the itch to play it now...quality.
@campxbox it happens every time I play it, I normally go through each character, then the next difficulty with each character again. I especially like the shield upgrades...1 = a small shield that doesn't last that long. Level 2 = if you get hit with it on your energy goes up a bit and the level 3 = u get hit with it on and it sends it straight back to whomever shot at you. Can get very Tactical on the later levels. Just a really great game, which as u said sadly never got a sequal.
I always wished that this would eventually be put on the xbox one back compatible list, the way og xbox games look on xbox series x back compatible with frame rate boost and up to 4k resolution this game would of looked stunning....it looks nice though as it is but just the thought of it looking better.....
Quantum Redshift has better gameplay, graphics and sound in addition to being more challenging and fun than Fatal Inertia for the Xbox 360, a game that came out 5 years later on a more powerful console. The Wipeout pedigree makes a difference.

I've heard about this game many times but never tried it, i had no idea it had so much work put into it! I love when racing games have stories and characters with personalities and stuff of that sort. I guess the creator was right about hating the cover for the game because that cover gave me the impression the game was just a poor man's F Zero but this game looks like it is so much more. Great video, man.
I haven't touched my XSX or PS5 because gaming sucks now 😢 I actually bought a OG Xbox and Xbox 360, feels so good to play real games again ❤ No Micro transactions or woke trash

This game is awesome. Characters with rivalry. Great graphics and control. Fun gameplay.
I ignored this at the time for whatever reason, but played it on my modded Xbox in the recent past. I agree that it's really good, but I don't think it has enough personality to be memorable. It's just... I dunno, missing _something._
It honestly reminded me a TON of a forgotten PS2-future racer called "Power Drome" (that's so forgettable I forgot what it was called and physically had to get up just now to search my gaming shelf for the case, lol). It too has great, clean visuals and smooth, responsive handling, plus a focus on characters... but it was just lacking something. I miss high speed future racers, but whenever I think of them, I think of PSX/N64 era games like WipeOut, Extreme-G and Star Wars Episode 1 Racer; I don't think of PS2/Xbox era games at all, and I feel bad because I know they're GOOD. But stuff like Power Drome, Quantum Redshift and even sequels to earlier games like Star Wars Racer Revenge or XG3 just suffer from some kind of blandness, imho. I feel the same way about modern future racers too; FAST Neo is somehow memorable, but AntiGraviator and RedOut just aren't for some reason.
I like this game, and it's one I do play every once in awhile when firing up the modded Xbox. It's nice to discover a great, high-quality, and fun example of a genre that's largely dead nowadays... but it's just not quite there. It's a much better racing game than Tao Feng is a fighter, but it sits in the same boat for me; an Xbox exclusive with LOADS of potential that really could've used a sequel or two to find it's personality and style. Or take whatever personality it HAS here and push it until it really _pops,_ y'know? You'll never confuse an Xbox 1 era Microsoft exclusive with, like, a Sega or Namco racer from the time. The "Y2K/Millennium aesthetic" here is just too _soft_ somehow.

One of my favourite Xbox games. I got it after reading the review in the Official Xbox Mag (UK).
I loved the Wipeout series on the PS, so it was a no brainer.
I still stick it in the OG Xbox every now and then...hours later I'm still playing. For me the best ship is Ami's...sublime handling, but all the vehicles have their something that makes them fun to use. And the ultimate upgrade ...its like firing a mini nuke.
I got the itch to play it now...quality.
That's how I felt! I was sinking tons of time into this game and not realizing it.
@campxbox it happens every time I play it, I normally go through each character, then the next difficulty with each character again.
I especially like the shield upgrades...1 = a small shield that doesn't last that long. Level 2 = if you get hit with it on your energy goes up a bit and the level 3 = u get hit with it on and it sends it straight back to whomever shot at you.
Can get very Tactical on the later levels.
Just a really great game, which as u said sadly never got a sequal.

I always wished that this would eventually be put on the xbox one back compatible list, the way og xbox games look on xbox series x back compatible with frame rate boost and up to 4k resolution this game would of looked stunning....it looks nice though as it is but just the thought of it looking better.....

Quantum Redshift has better gameplay, graphics and sound in addition to being more challenging and fun than Fatal Inertia for the Xbox 360, a game that came out 5 years later on a more powerful console. The Wipeout pedigree makes a difference.

I've heard about this game many times but never tried it, i had no idea it had so much work put into it! I love when racing games have stories and characters with personalities and stuff of that sort. I guess the creator was right about hating the cover for the game because that cover gave me the impression the game was just a poor man's F Zero but this game looks like it is so much more. Great video, man.

This game was so dope for split screen. About halfway through the campaign though the difficulty goes crazy and feels cheap.
I actually have a copy of this game at home, but I don't have an Xbox to play it on anymore, it broke.
