I agree!!! She’s said before that she wants to build an empire of female rappers, so this is the logical next step. I also feel like some barbs in the comments down there need to have some faith in Nicki, she has always been pretty exclusive of who she has around her. I’m sure she wouldn’t be mentoring people who have a history of switching sides on her? I personally think it would be cool to see her work with like Tierra Whack and Chika! (Im pretty sure they already have mentors in the game, but i feel like either of those collaborations would be🔥). I’m not sure how they feel about Nicki, but they give the impression that they study the game, and just thoroughly enjoying rapping. So I think Nicki would respect that.
@@lilangel2497 nicki never said that. She said she don’t want to be responsible for someone else career that’s why she has not sign anyone to her label. She will mentor her own kid.🦄👑💙
I can see Nicki mentoring Doja. Doja would eat & I mean EATTTTT!! In fact, I genuinely think if she had a juggernaut like Nicki in her corner she would be the girl to surpass her or reach Nicki's level of fame, wealth & pop culture value. Nicki would be a wonderful mentor because she's intelligent, strategic & experienced. However, I don't think she should. Too many people have shown us that they use her name to get ahead & once they're good, they switch on Nicki. I don't want her to go through that anymore, she deserves better. Great content, you're an absolute sweetheart & I love how you dissect Nicki's career/brand/persona from a genuine place. Dope! 🔥❤️🦄
Nicki doesn’t need to mentor anyone. everyone always turn they’re back on her. She needs to only worry about herself. The whole industry is against her why does she have to be a mentor when she’s barely respected ??
Hey, of course Nicki has had respect, but still there is a worthy conversation to be had over Nicki’s value to the industry. I’m always going to celebrate Nicki’s value even if she doesn’t get the respect she deserve. She gets all the props and all the praise here!
@@NOGHOSTWRITER outside of barbz no one gives her the respect she deserves. i get the intention of this video but this aint it. blogs, celebs and ppl in the music industry love dragging her name through the dirt. i want her to make music and stay out of social media and not engage with ppl anymore. everyone is toxic towards her . im glad she’s taking a break
This is my exact sentiment. In fact, I was going to skip this video, because that is how strongly I feel about that word ”should”. People must stop telling women what they should and should not do. Of course Nicki has so much to offer to hip hop, but as women we must stop doing this. The rap industry has not only been disrespectful to Nicki, but tried to destroy her, she owes the industry nothing. We must stop going where we are only tolerated rather than celebrated. This is akin to an abusive relationship, and her friends telling her she should go back because her boyfriend won't be happy without her. If Nicki feels like doing that one day, great but people like Megan had an opportunity to learn from Nicki and she showed her behind. If we look back into the history of rap, we will find women rapper. Who did everything for their makes label mates career? They wrote, rapped on their projects, appeared in their videos, when on the road with them, nearly everytime it was time for her project the men were nowhere to be found. If they helped at all it was lacklustered and just seen as not as important. Lady of Rage, Amil, Rah Figga, Shawna from DTP a bunch more I can’t remember at the moment. I love this channel, and this was a good topic, but the “should” rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe we can talk about which female rappers we think could benefit from a mentor ship from an experienced female rapper along with pros and cons. I am raising a daughter, and I am serious about making her and all of our girls to put themselves first and give to those who respect and value you. I see a terrible pattern of women overextending themselves for the men in their lives and end up suffering alone for it, when they haven’t reciprocated the love. It’s magnified in the rap world, we ha e to change that.
Great video I definitely can see Nicki diving in being a mentor after she retires from music. I truly believe she will be a great mentor especially to female rappers, and I would loves video about Nicki’s managers/management team from mixtapes days to present, and how they help shape her career.
I feel like they should learn what nicki went through and try to move differently so that they know how to leave a legacy behind that they actually want to make
I get where you were going with this but I dont like the „should, shouldnt”. None tells male rappers what they should do . None would dare to tell Eminem to mentor someone. Given the history of her extending her hand people just straight disrespected her. They didnt value Her value most of the time so why go where someone just takes and takes and at the end of it disrespects you? She is not these artists parent, she is not obligated to help anyone, only when she chooses to. BUT I agree that she would be an immense help to starting artists. Great video, great topic, you articulate everything so eloquently. You dive deep into Nickis persona so thank you for that ❤️
Thanks, I didn’t want to use “could” because of course she can, I used “should” against the backdrop I set out at the start of the video: a lot of OG’s shouldn’t be mentoring new artists because they can’t thrive in this digital era. Nicki can! She is uniquely placed to be a great mentor. The fact is that too many people sleep in her ability and whilst the choice is here to make, she shouldn’t be underrated as a mentor. I don’t tell the Queen what to do, as I said in the video, she does what she wants 😂
Why would you say that? So many people credit him with teaching them so much about work ethic, music itself, contracts, marketing, rappers starting their own clothing line and quite a bit more that I don't feel like typing. He's actually one of those rare people who has so much to offer a mentee. I know a lot of people don't like him, and people like to blame him for the demise of certain artist’s career, but we are not talking about signing a record deal with him. I would probably agree with you on that. However, his life experience, success, natural talent for brand marketing, and overall expertise in so many areas of entertainment would make him a great mentor if someone is willing to learn. Every artist that has worked with him in the past, always says how much they learned from him, when asked about the time spent around him. There is something to be learned from every experience, whether positive or negative.
Diddy is known for sucking young artists dry to ride a quick wave then dropping them on their asses on the curb in a binding contract that leaves them penniless. Lil Kim is the biggest example, and let’s not mention the Cassie situation.
I kinda wanna be a rapper but I don't know how to write or free style, I would love for her to give a quick lesson on how to do it cause she is one of my biggest inspiration 😭😭😭
If anything, Nicki needs to give a master class or tedtalk about signing contracts. I don't see her mentoring artists only because she loves creating music too much to be behind the scene.
They can research about Nicki power moves like female rappers I'm not saying mimic her... It's important to be original... But they should focus on building a solid fan base.
I think the status QUO (abbreviated for queen onika) they would have to be creative in their craft and learn how to manage that as well as trends and not pick popularity over creativity
What if Nicki is going to do what her competitors can't and brings up the next "Nicki Minaj" under her own label? How ironic would that be? lol It's would be GENIUS though because nobody knows the game better than Nicki and she would be able to at least profit off her mentorship since she IS the blueprint after all. I could also see her label being the first major label for LGBTQ hip hop artists. I would love to see her sign someone like Saucy Santana.
If Nicki wants to be a mentor, then awesome, but I totally get if she doesn't because of how the industry has treated her. A lot of artists can learn a thing or two from her. These labels don't seem to want that because they keep training the new girls to come in with jealousy and hate towards the Queen.
I don't believe Nicki should mentor unless it's her artist... Bcoz these artist the switch up and flip flop so Nicki should neva unless they signed to her.

I wasn’t talking about just the new girls, I mean Nicki as a Hop Hop mentor generally to new artists. We can’t let our negative experiences hold us back from including Nicki in the conversations they put all the other goats. Being a mentor is hard and Nicki has immense value! Just trying to appreciate her!
I want to see a show like this one day. BUT, BUT there has to be a complete overhaul of female rappers, nicki wouldnt mentor majority female because the standard is so low and respect is given and there a people deserving , real and hungry and not the quick fix. And possible when nicki decides to settle down
Nicki worked hard to be unique in the industry so others should work hard and desist from all forms of sexual appeals in music, is getting weird no more singing trash, all female's must leave sexual appeal and speak facts.
Did Nicki have a female mentor or female rapper to teach or tutor her , how can she tell the secret or skill of how she succeeds that's dumb, these new female rappers should stop being lazy and itching for money and stamps, they should think of impacting and sending message through their songs that would help the make better music.
Nicki has too much demand to be focusing on someone else. Y’all know she’s a perfectionist so she would put her all into someone’s album if she was producing or directing. That would take up too much of her time. Especially being a new mother and with the industry changing rapidly.
people like talking about doja cat or whatever the call the name, her rapping is horrible she can't come close to Nicki's flow, people that like Dojas rap are tasteless her singing is okay but rapping no.
