Glad to hear the Canadian perspective on this incident. We were that helicopter detachment on USS Michael Murphy. We still have the signed letter from HMCS Protecteur encased in a frame, hanging in the P way. I still remembered getting that midnight phone call to come in to the squadron at 4am to prep the emergency det.

Thanks very much for watching and for sharing that your Det was the one on USS Michael Murphy! Thanks to you and your colleagues for all you did to respond to the emergency. I would be thrilled to speak with you if you'd allow me the honor. Kindly email me at goboldthepodcast at gmail dot com if you don't mind.

As a hull tech that was in the fire on several occasions , it’s interesting to hear a different side of this story. For a more in-depth understanding of what happened, watch HMCS Protecteur fire interviews.

The ship is rolling more than the camera. That's cool.

After 22+ years of service in the army, I must agree with Joetey that this young lad has very good potential in becoming a very good leader/commanding officer in the future. In my career, I have witnessed people in leadership positions, and to be honest, in my opinion, and many brothers in arms, we would be like “how the f*** did they get here “, but also many great leaders! And, from my standpoint/opinion, this young man, has very good leadership qualities.

Thanks for watching and thanks for that perspective! Thank you also for your service in the Army! 👍I think we have all seen good and bad leaders... the trick, I believe, is to identify the good ones and encourage them to stay in!

@@goboldwithjoeteyattariwala you are absolutely right! I got out January 24, and what you just mentioned above is getting harder to achieve. Lack of man/woman power right now is the biggest issue. Every body is basically doing a 2up, sometimes 3up job. Anyway’s I really appreciate your content! Keep up your good work!

I completely agree, and I look forward to him achieving those positions. The Navy needs intelligent, kind and capable leaders like Steve!
