Thank you so much for sharing this recipe Flo. I discovered your channel recently and I’m a fan. All of your recipes are loved by my family. My husband is Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese and I’m Dominican. My girls love the Asian fusion dinner. God bless tou
I just found this channel and really liking Flo. I'm a single dad so this really helps giving the current prices of food. I want to be able to provide my family simple good foods with fantastic taste.
Saw this and made it 3 hours later. Used Ground Pork, Matchstick Carrots, Diced Red Pepper and everything else to the word of the recipe. Will be making it again soon ! Thanks So Much for another excellent dish. ;-)
Just made this tonight. Added Ginger and Red Chili pepper. I halved the pasta and stuck to the rest of your recipe. The scallions as a garnish and sesame seed oil was spot on. Wife and I have leftovers for tomorrow. Very yummy and voted to add to our rotation. We had some green beans as a side dish. Awesome. Maybe brussel sprouts tomorrow.
This looks delicious. You were so fortunate to have a great grandmother in your life. I only met my grandmother around 6 times since she was in Germany and I was born here in the USA. I do have fond memories of being there and remember all the delicious food she made for me most of which she grew or raised. Thanks for sharing your life and recipes. Stay well guys.
I love watching your cooking vlogs. Simple easy to follow recipes with great delicious results as tested each time by the Dude. I love your relaxed no nonsense attitude and combined with the Dude's subtle humor is so endearing. I have followed your channel since the beginning and never get tired of it. Keep up the good work. You make a great team!
Very nice flavor. Light for light color add yellow bell pepper and a few frozen peas. Nice job. definitely a keeper for my recipe collection. Thanks Simple and fast
Hi Flo! YUMMY! Now this I can do! I love favorites from our childhood. I had an Hispanic nanny when I was little and each time I make something that she made for me it just brings back such loving memories. Thanks you two. God Bless You and Your Family. Xxoo
Came across your IG post for this randomly. Without knowing the ingredients at first, I already KNEW that I will like this. I will make it in December after I've finished my elimination diet! Thank you.
I made this last night. It turned out ok for me. I think I'll spice it up a little bit next time. Thank you for the recipe and your cookbooks. I'm never to old to cook and try something new
Reminds me of my mom’s spaghetti. It was spaghetti and ketchup! She immigrated to the USA and saw spaghetti but didn’t know what the sauce was. So spaghetti being red, it must be ketchup! Loved eating it.
I love all your comfort food recipes and this one is on regular rotation because it’s so good. I made it with elbow pasta and it worked really well. Thanks Flo! ❤
Made this over the weekend and it's a hit. Especially as the weather gets cooler. I added a bit of gojuchang into the sauce to give it a little umami heat. Not too much. Will definitely be making this again!
My mom made this for us when we were younger. It tastes great with cilantro and ginger! It's basically using whatever you have left in your fridge and pantry.
My late motherade a dish she called Chinese Sloppy Joe. Ground beef, diced onions. Sauce of chicken stock, oyster sauce and cornstarch slurry to thicken. Finish with sesame oil and green onions. Served over rice w/a raw egg on top.
I’ve made it three times. To cut down on the carbs, I make the meat by itself and we put it over a bed of rice or salad greens or both. I also add thawed green peas or edamame with the onions. SO GOOD ! Thanks, Flo!
In Thailand a popular spaghetti dish is similar but with ground pork, red chilies, green peppercorns and Thai sweet Basil. Give it a try.. It's awesome.
awesome!!! this will be a mainstay in our family's dining table, its so easy to make , my grand daughter will love me ! she loves noodle recipes!💕💞 Thank you!!!💝
The Army served spaghetti with ground beef and lots of garlic. I loved it and made it for my kids who loved it and asked for it. I did make it with sesame oil. This looks like it will be much better. I look forward to trying it.
I looove looove making this, and to extend the recipe even more, I add fresh, tender cabbage or bok choy or broccoli from the garden. Sooo good and versatile. Looove your cooking style!
Thank you for this recipe ! amazing taste and elevated by the sesame oil , cilantro , chili flakes and touch of grated ginger .A+ easy and most ingredients already at home for most part . It is delicious !
Love your recipes, just ordered the cookbook in the link from Amazon. Every recipe I’ve made, has been easy to follow and simply delicious. Tonight’s dinner!
I love your recipes! They are simple but delicious and I usually have the ingredients in my kitchen. I am making your garlic noodles tonight (a big hit with my family) but this recipe will be next. Thanks for sharing your recipes,
Wow that sounds so yummy and it's easy! I've even put my beloved "Flo's beef and tomato" over pasta before when I'm not in the mood for rice. It's an amazing "mashup" too that my whole family loves. Personally, I could eat it daily 😊
This is my favorite dish from you, I'm cooking this again today from the last time, that I told we love this recipe, thanks again 😋, I'm trying it the way Dude said that would make more teasty to him this time
Loved hearing about your great grandmother’s snack for you. My great grandmother taught me how to make the best pinto beans and cornbread, homemade creamed corn and chicken and dumplings. She also taught me how to use the old fashioned pressure cooker.
Tell me about it! We had four boys in six years, so for quite a long time we had the whole lot of them in their teens or early twenties, when they need food constantly. I ended up baking bread every day so that there was always something wholesome for them to find when they did the hungry walk through the kitchen.
We had ground beef and I wanted pasta but not with spaghetti sauce. So hubby made this and is now one of our meals of the week. Funny thing is I watched this video and he made it the next day. Well he watched this as well. Thank you Flo and dude. Greatly appreciated
You know, sometimes I just come here for the stories. And they can be oh so comforting and/or relatable as a Chinese Canadian myself. Not sure if you and Dude are still looking into doing a podcast. As you can imagine it’s a very crowded space these days but if you’re looking into doing it, you can count on my support 110%.
Yes… I knew my great grandmother and she was the best! Inspired by her, this ground beef recipe is simply delicious. Happy Sunday!
I am going to try this. Plus, I will be going to the Asian market to get that brand of oyster sauce.
me gonna try this too , must be super yummm .. =)
we have a similar thing in my family from when i was little .. made w chicken , dried shitake , sxw , garlic & oyster sauce . always gobbled up when i make it for church functions ( & also the italian bf ) .. :D
Not all of us got to meet our great grandparents. You are fortunate.
I knew two of my great grandmas, one great grandpa and numerous great aunts and uncles.
I was 20 when my Grt Grandma passed. She never made dinner for the family since she usually ate out when we were all together.
1 lb ground beef, 1 tbsp oil, 2 tsp shaoxing wine, 2 tsp soy sauce, 2 tsp cornstarch, mix with hand. Sauce: 1 cup beef broth, 2 tbsp oyster sauce, 2 tbsp dark soy 1 tbsp brown sugar; chop 1/2 onion, 1-3 garlic cloves. Slurry = 1 tbsp cornstarch, 1-2 tbsp cold water. Green onion for garnish chop about 3 sticks) Optional: ginger, and/or cilantro. 1 lb spaghetti noodles. Finish w/a drizzle sesame oil. Thanks!
Perfect! Thank you!
Rose welcome, can’t wait to try it 😋😋
Thanks, that was sweet of you to write that down. ❤
Bless!
