My earliest Hot Wheels I remember having as a young kid was a Green Baja Breaker, a lime green Bywayman, a blue Hitail Hauler and a yellow Pontiac J-2000. The first three cars had a Malaysia base while the Pontiac one had a Hong Kong base
Another great presentation of some classic Hot Wheels. The Stutz Black Hawk and the Greyhound MC8 are my favourites. Thanks for showing these and i cant' wait for the 1981 collection.
Thank you so much. I could watch these videos all day long. So much history and different variations to learn about. Your knowledge increases the value of the hobby itself.
I really like this video. Since Mr O Dawg is the definitive curator of the Hot Wheels Museum, I hope to see these complete videos for EACH year. And the Hot Wheels Museum must start from its roots: 1968. I've been searching for wtffor's 1968 videos to no avail (not to mention 1969, 1970...). I know you're busy setting up the display for 1968. In the meantime I'll go to the Hot Wheels Museum gift shop and get myself a hoodie.
I love these full descriptions of each year cars! Very informative and interesting. I wasn't aware of some of the different variations such as like window tints, etc. Keep these going plz. I am now more knowledgeable about my older cars, especially my black walls.
Love these videos. Everytime I watch one I often wish that Hot Wheels wouldn't release over 300 different hot wheels per year. It would be so much easier to collect them today if we only had to buy a few dozen different unique pieces per year.
another fantastic video. I watch everyone, sometimes more than once. I look forward to the next one every time. thanks for the work you put into your channel
I found that blue Hot Bird with only 2 tiny chips on it in a flat at a car show swap meet last weekend as well as a 78 hi tail hauler and some other nice old Blackwalls. I asked the seller what he wanted for them and he waved his hand and just said “Take em” I asked him twice if he was sure. He couldn’t seem to care less. I’m still pretty stunned but as I’ve commented before I would never have known what I was looking at if it wasn’t for these videos! Thanks again!
an awesome year I lived in Germany from 79-82 and the Air Force base had a store call toy land each week my parents would give my brother and me 5 bucks to spend
I have a white Dodge D 50 high raker with red engine out of hood, and red grill. This has red and yellow flame tampos on the hood and down both sides. This one has rubber Good Year tires, and a metal base with Malaysia 1979. Jack - Ontario
Yep I agree although I like the hot bird a little bit better because I've been getting the blue one in blackwalls but mine was a bit messed up but I did turn it into into a red 77
Wow I have a ton of these! Especially the hi rakers! I am either missing 1 or 2 of them (not sure which variations of the dodge I have, I have 2 of them so I might have both)
The Animal on the side of the Jaguar XJS is Actually a Jaguar not a Leopard. I owned most of these models, the Greyhound Bus, the Vette Van and many of the ones you show. Perhaps my favorite Hot Wheels Car was the Stutz Blackhawck in Tobacco Brown, The XJS in this version and white, Cadillac from 84-85 mustard Yellow and an AC Cobra in Blue from Real Riders... Don't remember if 84 or 85 but it came along a Hot Wheels City, with Bank, Hospital, etc. In Mexico ; Great Memories.
Thanks very much james, one more quick thing would it be part number plano-5324-30 it doesn't say size of compartments just want to make sure i get right ones. Thanks again
Brian L yes....the cases I have...have 5324 molded into them. I believe they are the -30 model...it's the model on the website that does not have the fancy locking mechanism
@ wtffor I have a question for you . On the 32 ford high raker, I have 2 different cars with 1 having a darker shade of red. Did they have a color issue or is it a variation ?
Thanks for the question! There is a variation but it exists in the 1981 to 1982 Malaysia year. Also, a very rare variation (forthcoming in a future video of mine) is the yellow tint window variation with white tampo's... an extremely rare car.
Great Video again. The prices do not include shipping I guess? Right now on ebay the shipping cost to Canada are crazy! Is there a better place to find nice mint cars? I'm far from big cities and when I do find one, I have to pay top dollar... Danny Gaspé, Quebec.
I hear ya! I am also in 'the boonies', but I can't include shipping costs as that would be far too restrictive to my worldwide audience. I can tell you that shipping to Canada for cars (mostly from the USA) is roughly $12 to $30 for just a couple cars, depending on whether the seller ships First Class or Priority.
I just went through my collection and I have the hammer down truck both stickers are on it, but its in rough shape most if not all the edges are missing paint, both stickers are intact and in pretty good shape just a bit dirty! Is it worth anything in its condition?
Absolutely it is! A true barn find, and with the stickers being the most important part, I'd say as long as your truck is not missing any wheels and just paint, it should still be worth at least $30.
Wtff hour lucky to have those cat construction vehicles I've been looking for them for ages and only found the wheel loader but in red and black. Anyways awesome collection and did you ever find the France only release of the airport rescue
I do have the red Airport Rescue from France, but in rough condition. I wish you luck on your hunt for the cat construction vehicles... check eBay sometimes there are deals to be had on those
In your opinion, how much would the hammer down be worth without the cab sticker. The hammer down sticker is in nm condition and the truck has a few flea bites, but overall really nice condition. Thanks. Love your videos, I've been watching for close to five years. Congrats on your channel growth as well.
I would say the Hammer Down sticker is the more "required" sticker of the two, and hence, I would personally consider your truck to be worth around $75 to $100
I am your best source. I have researched the heck out of vintage variations. Countless conversations with informed individuals, and, may she rest in peace, the old Hot Wheels Collectors website, which I painstakingly spent months copying page by page (one for every car variation - so thousands). It took me years to do, and filled 30 massive Excel programs, but it was the only true source right from Mattel that once gave die-hard collectors such as myself all the info to be able to collect these cars on an extreme level and knowledge base. There was no price guide though, that has stemmed from my years of tracking and buying vintage cars on ebay and other online web sites.
THE BUG with the bug on top -- I got in a Happy meal at a fast food restaurant in portland called "Herfy's. if it showed the other side it says HEReFY'S.
I am still looking for the Hot Wheel yellow diggers I have the road scraper and I have the loaders in the dumps and mixers and all the other stuff I am looking for the road grader and the Digger excavator
"..Roll on highway, roll on along Roll on, Daddy, 'til you get back home Roll on family, roll on crew Roll on, Mama, like I asked you to do And roll on, eighteen-wheeler, roll on (roll on)..."

I can't keep up with what new hot wheels are out there. Sometimes an old casting makes its way back in stores
Outstanding....I learn something new about Hot Wheels every time I watch one of your videos. Always first class and well produced!
I binge watch these year by year Hot Wheels videos. Can't get enough!
another fantastic video. I watch everyone, sometimes more than once. I look forward to the next one every time. thanks for the work you put into your channel
Got a bunch of these. So many memories coming back!
Another great video. So many cool cars in this year's collection. Thanks for sharing!
Wow this is awesome
Fun times as kid I remember playing with all of these

Good info. You're like a Tomarts price guide.
Wow! Some beautiful cars!
My Highway Hauler is a dark blue. I also have the Peterbuilt cement mixer.
beautiful buddy .. looks awesome
Yep I agree although I like the hot bird a little bit better because I've been getting the blue one in blackwalls but mine was a bit messed up but I did turn it into into a red 77
I have a mint brown hotbird. Bought her new to go with my black and my fav, a 79 gold machines hotbird
Great video!!
Still have it in my drawer somewhere
On the “Very Rare Cars” the white car. Is that one just with the NorthAmerican back or any back because my brother and I have a lot of them
It must have the original sticker to be rare, without it, it's just like the countless other white trucks out there.
Thanks I’ll go look at mine LOL
Wow I have a ton of these! Especially the hi rakers! I am either missing 1 or 2 of them (not sure which variations of the dodge I have, I have 2 of them so I might have both)

+wtffor found it at the flea market last summer, and almost peeled the sticker off. I'm glad I kept it on now.
In researching a handful of websites for 1980 hot wheels...they list the Malaysia versions as being a 1980 release??!
What is the best source for knowing when a particular vehicle was released?
I am your best source. I have researched the heck out of vintage variations. Countless conversations with informed individuals, and, may she rest in peace, the old Hot Wheels Collectors website, which I painstakingly spent months copying page by page (one for every car variation - so thousands). If you need to quickly reference a common vehicle and don't need pinpoint accuracy when it was released, the Wiki pages online are helpful.
wtffor thx u for replying. Your channel is awesome! I wish I had seen your channel before I started buying cars. Oh well more to play with! Thx Again!
By the way...why was 1974 your starting point? Birth year?
Cool video
great video, but you did not mention how much either of the dodge d-50's cost
Those cost me around $15 each, strangle the rare variation with all small wheels does not sell for much if at all more then the standard model.
Thanks a lot! I just wanted to know becuase I have the one with the regular wheels.
THE BUG with the bug on top -- I got in a Happy meal at a fast food restaurant in portland called "Herfy's. if it showed the other side it says HEReFY'S.
Nice gift!
@@wtffor U RULE
Do they still make High rakers? Wish they still made a few of those.
No, unfortunately Hi-Rakers have not been made in decades.
Damn, I really like those trucks!
I am still looking for the Hot Wheel yellow diggers I have the road scraper and I have the loaders in the dumps and mixers and all the other stuff I am looking for the road grader and the Digger excavator
I have a 1980 masters of the universe car so your missing more than just 4 cars
I have the high raker corvette split window stingray!
It said 1979 on the bottom
Love the trucks nice
I had some of those 😊
"..Roll on highway, roll on along
Roll on, Daddy, 'til you get back home
Roll on family, roll on crew
Roll on, Mama, like I asked you to do
And roll on, eighteen-wheeler, roll on (roll on)..."
I only try to find Hong Kong bases pre 1980 cars as I was from there!
Hi I have Tricar X8 with small tires, that is rare?
Some hard find
Question I was wondering how much are the crack up collection worth just wanted to know if u knew thanks
In mint condition, they are usually worth between $15 and $75 per car, depending on the model. Some are more rare than others.
i still have mine 1980's
Nice
i have the 1999 final run of the stutz in package
Do you buy other hot wheels
I found an inside story with India on the base.
I don't remember all the Hot Wheels I used to have in the 80s but I did have that Baja Breaker alll My Hot Wheels Star Wars got stolen
have the stutz in black with pin stripes
I have the blue hot bird with no paint except a couple specks... basically worth nothing
But awesome none-the-less! Love my beat-up vintage cars, oh the stories they could tell!
wtffor check out my search for the best condition Blackwall video. I feel like it's in worse condition than any other car you've ever seen
I had all of those mint condition Caterpillar vehicles and I decided to smash them with a hammer 😩
lol...im sure it made sense in the moment.
Gko Gko oh ya lol. I was thinkin heck ya let's smash this. Also did it with a pickup truck from the 1980's that had a working tailgate lol.
