    Great collection!!! I just bought the Rodger Dodger with white interior on card off eBay for $6000. I talked the guy down from his orig. price of $8000. I believe I have paid a bit more than I should have but for that rare of a variation and still on card I was ok with it. You inspire me to complete my collection of the Rodger Dodger even if it breaks the bank. Thanks for all the great vids and in depth info. The knowledge you have is really fascinating and extremely helpful.

    I was 7 in 1974 and I remember playing with at least half of these cars. The Funny Money was my favorite. Mine lost its top from firecrackers being exploded inside it. Ahhhh, good times. Awesome vid!

    Quite an amazing (and expensive) collection of RedLines.Nice to hear the story of these castings as well.
    I'd love to see most of these return in new retro-style series or something similar from Mattel.Wishful thinking, but still...

      Thank you! I know it's a long one, but hard to compress this type of vid without it becoming like every other short vid out there on UA-cam about these old cars. I expect each video of this type will be 45 minutes to an hour, but I won't let them go over an hour.

      wtffor I have been experimenting with longer videos myself, I think you have to go for it. The long format is great and gives you more time to play with facts and ideas. You certainly have the cars for it.

    The Prowler, f/k/a The Demon, was actually based on the 1964 show car known as the Lil' Coffin built by Dave Stuckey. Later on, Monogram came out with a 1:24 scale model. The kit box showed a skeleton standing next to it.

    Wait... So you're saying the blue El ray special is $100? Mine is in a similar, possibly better condition. I got it for 10 cents about 7 years ago, when I was 6. Don't get worried, I was a very smart kid and didn't ever play with it. I never really played with my cars and that was the year I started collecting strictly in the package. Now I just buy multiple to open and display while still having a carded example. I'm thinking about starting a blackwall channel this summer. My collection is not amazing but is very good. Especially for being 13. I actually have both shown el rays in the vid

    In July 2001 I bought a new blue 2002 Chevy Avalance; about a week after buying the truck I saw a Hot Wheel Avalance in almost the same color, so, I bought it because it matched my truck; I never took it off the card, I just put it away; it has been almost 20 years, I still have it, and I also have my Avalance, it still looks and drives like a new truck.

    I have a very similar green El Rey Special with cap wheels on the front. Sadly, it was in awful condition when I got it, with the front axle badly bent and the silver paint had been rubbed off the wheels. I recently repainted the wheels, which makes the car look much better now than it did when I got it.

    Я так понимаю что это редкие машинки старого выпуска. Раритет, если правильно выразится. В коллекцию две штуки можно приобрести. Больше уделяю внимание спорт карам и футуристическим машинкам раннего выпуска.
    I understand that this is a rare typewriter of the old issue. Rarity, if properly expressed. The collection of two pieces can be purchased. I pay more attention to sports carts and futuristic cars of early release.

    Hey O-Dawg I've been noticing a large number of rare older 'restored' cars on Ebay recently and was wondering your thoughts? There seems to be many very rare and valuable castings that are claimed to be restored-in my opinion it is highly unlikely that such rare vehicles would be stripped down and repainted and I think it is much more likely that common variations have been repainted in rarer ocular and decals in order to turn $5 cars into $50 cars. If this is the case then I feel that they should be listed as reproductions rather than restorations as people may not understand the car they bought did not leave Mattel in the same scheme.

    • @wtffor
      @wtffor  6 років тому

      I completely agree with you about restoration / reproductions. It really comes down to "buyer beware". The minute you buy a car that has admittedly been altered or 'enhanced', forget about comparing it's value to the real thing. The only values is what you as a collector place on a reproduction, as they are actually more common then a mint reproduced common car! Great comment, and thanks for watching the vids. Sorry it's been a while since I have made a video or read my comments, been busy as hell this month. December ought to be more fun!

    Hey there, just reminiscing over some of your older vids today! ENJOYED!! I sold my Green Heavy Chevy for 'bout $800, it was minty OTHER than the spot where it was picked up at, right on the #7!! The tampos on the '74 cars were easily damaged, tampos in the early stages, I guess. But, it sure hurt the value of an otherwise Minty car. Yours is a BEAUTE!! Love the white Porsche and Blue Alive '55, as well. Thanks again,brother!!

Some of the cars are in bad condition and others a couple are very good looking. What do you think I should do? $200 too much?

    • @wtffor
      @wtffor  7 років тому

      So many variables... really requires quite a bit of research on each model to know if the lot is "worth it". I would hesitate to encourage people to buy old Hot Wheels on speculation, but more for the enjoyment and completion of your collection.

    • @zach_diecast_mansur
      @zach_diecast_mansur 7 років тому

      wtffor, I totally agree, I do NOT sell my cars or trade for that matter, but I just need to figure out if that price is "worth it" for paying that much to enjoy in my collection. I would very much so like to buy them but don't know if that price is just too much to enjoy without buyer's remorse.

    Nice video's! In the 90's I used to mainly play cops and robbers with my matchbox cars,so as a result I always ended up more interested in buying 80's and 90's style gangster cars and every Police car I could find.Aswell as Taxi's I used to do Police vs Taxi's and pretend that the Taxi company was owned by a mob boss. Anyways I would love to see you do a video of just all Police Cars and Taxi's. Also did they ever make a hearse? Iv'e looked since I was a kid but NEVER found one! You must be new here. This is a very stable hobby. And mostly all older people do not buy for value, people like wtffor buy to complete a lifelong collection goal.
      And if you think $1,000 for a car is expensive, you should see how much model trains are bought for. Also, how did you manage to spell "dinky" wrong twice in two different ways?
