Pat Thrall's solo on this is really the stellar ray of celestial harmony itself......with the synth...hmmm????.... incredible.... so far ahead of their time.....
I agree 100%! And just like so many others who’ve posted here, I can swear that I hear not only Jimi in PT2’s ‘musical DNA,’ but I hear some Robin Trower strands entwined as well, especially where Pat’s effect choices are concerned (*phaser, I think???*)...
Back in the 90s I was staying at the Ritz-Carlton on business, the limo driver from the hotel told me that meatloaf was staying at the hotel. When I was checking in Pat thrall was right in front of me in line. I approached him , he was thrilled to be recognized. He was the nicest guy, he let me front row tickets at the gate to see meatloaf. We've had a couple beers back at the hotel bar after the show I hear he's doing work with Pro tools now. One of the greatest guitar players ever.
These 4 Geniuses captured my attention while I was lamenting the death of music with Jimi, Janice and Jim, they brought me thru to the other side when the journey felt as if it were over, they made me realize that music like this cannot die, I lost both albums in the middle of surviving and raising babies and working for a living, I looked for an eternity to find them again, and "Here I am Now"
Wow...!!! I have not heard this music in DECADES... I LOVE IT...!!! I was not even looking for it... it showed up on my screen... Wow...!!! I miss you all ... Much Peace and Love...
I wish that everyone could here this a few times to get what these guys were doing, they were way ahead of their time. Some Jimi Hendrix, Soul, and progressive rock mixed in.
Amazing.....just amazing....if it wasn't for the BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel, I would never have heard this track and subsequently bought the LP in 1979......
Damn Damn Damn Damn (my Florida Evans voice), these was my boys. Thank you so much for bringing them back. AM was the joint, their sound was somewhere between pre-Perry Journey and Return to Forever or Mahavishnu. Respect.
Pat Thrall's guitar work on this is amazing, as well as Bayete's keyboards. So cool to hear from everyone that knows about this band. Thought I was alone!
I remember buying this album when it was new. Seems I took its obvious greatness for granted as it is now impossible to find. Wish I had my scratchy vinyl back....
I have both of their albums. I converted both to digital. Hard to find music like this. To be honest, I was suprise to find some of their songs on Y-Tube.
how cool is that! I've got this album and nothing to listen to it with. It was hot then, and it's hot now. Make me feel like the hot chic I used to be back then, and now............. kinda.
I love this band. I still play the records regularly (CDs, but I still have my LPs to). If you have not checked out the work but that Pat thrall did with Glenn hughes is worth a listen to.
I get a whiff of Jimi here and on some of the other cuts as well on the album - the vocals, some of the guitar licks - and the sci-fi lyrics - nothing forced about it, just seems to come naturally - a great band that, like Go, remained under the radar - radio and the record companies had become so conservative that stuff like this didn't stand a chance of getting noticed -
OMG I aint heard this since my albums got nicked in 1978. I loved AM, they were well ahead of the pack, I used to have the poster on my bedroom wall at my parents when I was the same age as my youngest child now....who I just found this for.

Pat Thrall later played with Pat Travers!

This is the best track on a preternaturally GENIUS album...
Definitely an album that deserves much wider recognition 🔥🔥🔥🎸🎸🎸

Oh my God! Talk about lost albums!! This was my favorite 'air guitar' song! They truly don't make music like this anymore. Flashin' crystal lights...

If it weren't for KROQ being on AM 1500 in 1977 I never would have heard this great band!
Great memories. Had both Automatic Man lp's! Wore out VISITORS as well.
