You saved me £50-£150 with this video brother. I was using sheep wool insulation for my campervan and a small patch of wool went through and fell right to the mechanism. I noticed it struggling so I took the cover off etc and removed the wool piece. I saw a few pieces in there stuck, but the mechanism started to work so I didn’t care about it. 3 weeks later it started to be super sensitive for pulling unti I got to the point where I couldn't even pull it out. I thought I have to buy a new/take it to a shop, then I found your video. It is quite obvious, but didn't think about this type of solution. I was spraying quite an amount of WD-40 into it and dragging it for a good 20 minutes. Almost give up when it finally slipped and again... what a relief. Thank you very much!!
If there are plastic parts, do not spray with WD-40 because it will destroy or melt the plastics. Use white lithium grease or another application that is suitable for plastic parts.
Hi, thanks for watching and for sharing! I'd say that destroying is a harsh word. I've sprayed plastic parts with WD40 lots of times and no damage was done whatsoever. But, yes lithium grease spray would be a better solution although WD 40 is a more common item in the household (which is one of the reasons we've used it in the video).
At 3 minutes plus the advice is to remove the rubber "gasket", and it's presented as though this is possible regardless of the manufacturer. It is not. The 2016 Ford Taurus I own has metallic clips that fasten the rubber gasket to the plastic trim panel.

Yes, a silicone spray is a good alternative especially if the mechanism isn't stuck that much.

Do some research. Seatbelts have a small charge that is activated in an accident. It's called a pretension device.
