I always watch the videos
Great video. Love the concept
wow that a clear explanation about wheel love from india
That dog on United ramp rats handling your bags definitely has a story behind it 😆
Oh we have stories.
This helped. Thank you. Continue the great work Blue world. Love you Johnathon😁😁😁🔥🔥❤
Love these kind of videos! Keep these please, really good explanations
Very cool info! I just got my wreck diving specialty this summer and this was my first time working with reels. This video definitely gave me some great info that I hadn’t considered for when I buy my own reels in the future.
Thanks!
Wow ur really cool
Cool!
That's a good start, but it could easily be a 20min video. Lines, lengths, materials, etc.
Thanks. Maybe we will do a follow up with the next level of detail. Even simple devices like reels have a lot of history and complexity to them both in design and use. If you would like to hear more, please let us know in the comments.
I've lived in Florida all my life and never knew north Florida was considered cave country. Why is that?
Because it has a lot of caves
While I like Dive Rite and use some of their stuff, it was kind of a commercial for them. Lots of other manufacturers have similar or better reels.
Those are just what Todd had on hand to demonstrate. We could have a reel test comparo if everyone wanted to send one of their best over!
That is fair. Thank you for the feedback. It was not meant to be a Dive Rite commercial. For us it was about exploring the possibilities of "Tech with Todd" which we see as an exciting addition to the Blue World Channels.
Why nobody invented a weak spring loaded reel like on a vacuüm cleaner?
Great Idea! People have tried. The problem is that water, especially salt water, really destroys spring mechanisms and complex reels. Also, while we did not talk much about reel use in this segment, getting the tension correct on such a device is very difficult. The weak spring design works well for short cords, but you should also be familiar with the frustration of trying to keep the week spring loaded for really long cords/lines. That is a difficult problem. It would be an awful lot of spring tension to retrieve 5ooft of line!
I wonder if anybody has ever thought about a reel with an electronic engine that reels back the line... maybe is a stupid thing but it would be interesting!
Sounds clever, but likely to fail!
You want to minimize failure points, but another cool idea might be an sonic direction indicator. Have a device attached to your buddy or landmark that makes a sonic pulse at a certain frequency. A receiving device could listen and based on attenuation and frequency change tell you what direction and how far away you are from something/someone. It wouldn't replace a reel, but it would have application
