Yes, I found this quite enjoyable. Mr. Kakuk certainly knows every inch of this beautiful cave and it is abundantly clear he wants to ensure its protection. I found myself following Mr. Kakuk's briefing fairly well up to a point. My problem would be in remembering everything on the reverse route !
Solid brief. As a pilot, I can’t help but appreciate this. Same attention to detail given as we do when flying. Truly helps to mitigate risk. Finishing up some “homework dives” assigned by Brian and looking forward to his training soon.
'How much of that can you remember, on a scale of 1 to 10?' - Donald Cerrone watched this and scored 11. He remembered details that weren't even actually covered.
I'm a non-diver, but I think these briefings are awesome to mentally prepare and to protect the caves. there was so much cool and instructional info in the brief, but imagine trying to convey all that during the dive. knowing that the lead diver has intricate knowledge of the entire cave system would instil confidence and a feeling of safety too I imagine.
All I recall, apart from something about a white sand, snow-like floor and the request not to disturb it (that's anxiety inducing), was the remark about fly crawling down a succession of restrictions about 50 meters apart. At that point anxiety fully took over. Bugger that! I'm staying above ground to enjoy your videos from my own dry "safe space"! You have to be so entirely unfazed, focussed and in the moment to dive caves. You can't be up in the air. It's like the necessity of being thoroughly grounded to be able to fly. Wow! I do so admire your experience and composure.
I wouldn’t trust myself in there. It’s so incredibly delicate and I would feel so horrible if I accidentally damaged so beautiful! I hope you post the video of the dive. I watched Bryan’s 7 minute video on the link in your description, but I’d love to see more. Just spectacular!

I have 10 cave dives under my belt and have never had a briefing like that! Wow. Makes one appreciate that your guide is very experienced and detail oriented. At my age of 67 ...my brain can not retain/process but 25% of that. Kudos to all that said... 50 to 70%. I have to hope for rapid developmemt of good diving audio communication! Another interesting video. Thanx guys.

Thanks to yall I had a realization that I start to panic and for some odd reason hold my breath. 🥴 So just know yall are helping people who will never cave dive but find the whole thing super fascinating lol
I have panic attacks too, didn't start having them till I was about 50. Only controlled initially with benzos. Not anymore, breathing techniques DO help. Helo, not a cure all.
@@dg8062 yes! I'm terrified of taking SSRIs and such so I'm trying to self manage. I got through it as a teenager, so I keep that in my back pocket knowing I've conquered this before. I hope peace comes to you as well friend!
@Dan Trebune My panic attacks are caused by feelings of being stuck or trapped. So if I'm at the back of a grocery store or in a big building. But, I take a water bottle everywhere now because if I start to feel panicked I focus on taking small sips of really cold water. So yes diverting your brain to focus on something tactile definitely works.
Cave = pretty is all my mind remembered from that!! Don’t know how you guys remember it all it, but the detail of the briefings just shows how much respect and care you have for nature, so- big respect 🤘
Just found your guys channel. Really enjoy your content and knowledge about cave diving as well as your honesty and humbleness. You guys are great and because of you I want to get cave dived certified.
Loved it. I am going out on a limb and say 7/10. I was visualizing the video while Brian was talking. Very well done brief by a man who has done many of them, and is passionate about it. Thanks for sharing this. Dive safe.
I would say I remember about a 5.5/10 lol. Absolutely love watching these briefings and would love to see more! Absolutely love how thorough and detailed Brian is with his briefing even if I really only was able to remember a little over half of what was said😂
Gus, I loved this video. It's seems like forever since we've had a video with Brian out of the water. Yes, please do more of these! I would love to see everything from the briefing to the end. I can't wait for the next one!
Love a briefing that has so much detail and i think that you remember more than you think you will. I also love when there is history or science in the briefing.
Hey you guys have a neat setup and presentation for your videos but honestly you're both just really likeable personalities and a good combo - i think you are carrying on the spirit of "Car talk" if you ever listened to that. Thanks for the videos.
I think I retained about 90% only because its so obvious that Brian is extremely passionate and takes this very seriously. That cave is his baby. Lovely content guys.
I am hugely logistical minded and this was fascinating. I would love for you to do commentary over this, with the logic behind decisions in the briefings.
Such a fantastic channel. Thanks so much Gus and Woody for all your hard work and for sharing your knowledge, experience and enthusiasm with us all. So engrossing!
The point is notice his mellow attitude and calm, calm, calm he doesn't expect you to remember he's looking to calm you down as your diving some of what he says will come back to you and everyone will have a great dive, that's what I think and I agree he's amazing.
Yes, I would love to see more videos of the happenings out of the water, before e& after a dive! Loved hearing the briefing! It also teaches us to pay more attention & be more detail orientated just by seeing what we can remember during the briefing!
I'm not a diver but I am interested in learning more about it. I'm ready for this briefing and I will listen to all the details. Thanks Gus, your the man❤
Oh man, you weren’t kidding. I remember about 50%. So 5. Then realized you have to remember it in reverse for the way out. So 2.5. I love love love these videos. Whole dive videos with your commentary would be amazing. Heck combine this briefing with the actual dive footage. Another amazing one
To share some insight to other divers and non-divers alike... Long briefings such as this are also what we do in the public safety diving sector, when we sit down to plan out a recovery or body search. Just like the cave divers briefing, we try to give as much detail as possible to make the dive as safe as possible, because most of our dives are done in zero visibility.. Others may not have picked up on it but if you rewind the video a few times, you will hear some repetitiveness on the safety points he mentions.... Long story short. With new and exciting dive challenges awaiting the brave, such as those found in cave dives, shipwreck penetrations, or diving the public safety world, comes a great responsibility and respect for training, pre-dive planning and safety when about to do those dives. Great video. Hope everyone had a fun day that day. Here's to many more fun and safe dives ahead. Have a great weekend everybody.
I’m actually really into these kinds of little details and remembering what is the order of things on dives. Doing this kind of really information-heavy briefing wouldn’t phase me too much. I’m actually hoping to do cavern training next year so we’ll see if my confidence is misplaced.
Yes, EVERYTHING about the dive!! I want to feel like I'm there w you guys. Learn what should happen correctly so if I find myself w someone who tries to take short cuts, I know. All this is helpful!!!
The briefing made me feel excited! Also terrified over ever diving there because I wouldn’t forgive myself if I ever broke a formation It’s very interesting thank you for sharing!
Wow, that was a very confident and enlightening battle plan, I have been around a few guide’s you just know they know their hole, this is one of them. The more and more I go, the more and more I learn how plans and confidence in guides look like
I wouldn't remember much about the actual brief in words to speak them back but would remember it decently as we went on into the areas. Also you have him to follow and mimic.
I've been watching you guys for almost a year now and one of the first things I noticed was how similar aviation and diving is. From preflight planning, briefings, checklists as well as other things it has some similarities to diving. Luckily we can bring notes and other things when we fly so we don't have to remember everything from the top of our head lol.
Same with military briefings. Unlike business briefings, which generally forget the 'brief' part of that, get sidetrackred or just waffle too much. It's one of those arts in how to convey the essential information. I liked the descriptive language he used. which is great to help visualise what you're expecting on the trip.
This was a very interesting video. Even as a non diver I love hearing people plan out activities that they love doing. Would love to see more videos of dive planning that accompany the dives themselves.
What an awesome guide! But SO much to take on-I’d image tho, if ur experienced, your ear would hear certain words/phrases in briefings that tell u even more-starting to pick up on some of them watching you guys-unfortunately I don’t dive, have always wanted to but can’t for medical reasons-then bam! Found you guys and now I can vicariously live thru u both! Thankyou so much for being so generous to share your adventures with us!! I did learn today that this cave is probably 1, if not the only cave ur allowed to very gently Spider-Man along a cave wall🤣 (bit of a tongue in cheek nod to the joe Rogan/MMF fighter on cave diving video you guys reacted to that I watched earlier today…The top comment on that video is just priceless 🤣😂🤣😂 although I know for sure there wouldn’t have been anything subtle or gentle about Cowboy’s Spider-Man technique…u guys nailed it by the looks!!!)
That was great! I listened to it all, but didn't try to memorize it because I wasn't actually going with you all. I would say that I would remember 50/60% of it and a bit easier on the way back. I have seen several of Brian's videos of those rooms, so I could easily picture what he was describing to you. Fascinating! Wish I was going with you!
My memory is awful, on a scale of 1-10 I'd probably be a 5-6 at remembering what was said during that briefing. Love the video, please do record more of the panning and prep stages, it's very helpful to see. Thanks guys!
Boy I would never make it on this dive! LOL I pretty much mostly only remember his descriptions of what you'll be seeing/experiencing--they were so vivid and he's so passionate about it all. But I couldn't remotely remember which side you're supposed to fly crawl on, when to do a little flutter kick, where to watch out that you don't destroy some formation that took 6 trillion years to develop, etc. But yes, I'd love to see more videos like this delving into the preparations needed before you actually start a dive.
Did Brian finish that brief with " 'ight"? I probably remember maybe 3/10. I definitely want to go diving. Do y'all ever remember more of the briefing once you are in the cave? I agree with others, more of these would be great. If you really want to flex, you could overlay the dive recording with the briefing to help us non-cave divers visualize what a briefing is describing.
I guess I'm lucky today, somehow I missed the Sanity room and beyond video. So that's cool, do the briefing, do the dive. I'm pretty pumped for it I have to say if you ever want one hell of an intro that's going to get your viewers really into the upcoming dive, put the briefing in first. Here we go!
So we take a jump at cookie nr6 and 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 Wow dude that is insane how detailed the briefing is ❤ I would just mimic Brian the entire dive 😂😂😂 I would say at this point 5/10 When still diving it would go 6@7 😂 Yes more of these unedited videos please 🙏
It would be so cool if you could do an edit where you show a section of the briefing then the video of the dive and go back and forth so we can truly associate the dive with the briefing.
I am very good at visualizing worded images. I was good until the lace description, (maybe he was so wonderfully descriptive about it that I just lost myself in his descriptions). After that I would have to do what I always do, verbally go over the details with the planner/leader again with my one worded key-point reminders to make sure that I had everything in order & was correct. I knew where the Japanese Mansion is & when to tuck my knees as well as a few key areas to turn my body & or keep to one side or another, but I lost a few key points in between. He is so very wonderfully detailed! I absolutely LUV it! So what kind of score would I give myself? 6 or 7 out of 10, for memory I suppose. After I asked a few questions? I think I 'd be up at an 8 or 9. I'm waiting with "re-breathed" breath ( 😉) to see this video!
Can we see the video of the dive parallel to the briefing? Would be interesting. How about doing such a video? Setup and tech would be cool. Make more of Kiss;-).
Sounds very delicate and easy to damage. Would probably try to mimic his movements rather than rely totally on memory. Although a lot would probably come back as you progress through the cave.
Retained about 80% of the information id say really can’t wait to get my scuba, cave an rebreather certs just waiting for the right time where i have enough time to put all my efforts into it been free diving occasionally throughout the year so much fun can’t wait to be able to spend more time down there
I’ve done 10 dives in my diving career so far. Was certified a year ago. Doing 7 more in November. When he talks about all these fragile things for an inexperienced diver to break. Crack. Shatter. Pop. And Destroy. It makes me excited and nervous to get to that level one day. I’ll be diving with Ed before I go there fire sure😂 More briefings! He sounds kind of like a game master for DND with the level of detail and descriptions. Love it.
Not a diver or swimmer but listen to all your safety and warnings ! I now lay a primary line ( garden strimer refill ) when get in the bath I have 4 sources of back up lights and Ed Sorensons number for rescue in case I get stuck ! Daughter might be closer but only want the best ! 😂 love your channel you keep one old lady from the UK safe !
Amazing bits video. Do more. Yea, how much do I remember? So I go lost at the very first jump off and didnt even keep up with the rest. Yea so minus 1 retention for me. Well done guys. MAD attention to details. Feels like a topgun briefing 😅 Keep ‘em coming
I give myself a minus one. How wonderful Brian keeps these amazing gorgeous caves protected. Does he ever dive in the ocean or the caves are a full time job?
Hi, err about 8 out of 10 but nice dive briefing never had a briefing with so much info... (not cave certified) AOW only. Love your content and yes please do more things like this its nice to see all parts of what you two do rather than just your dive videos. Great work keep it up guys 😁👍
As far as liking this video goes, I think it's okay. Likable enough. After all "for each, its own" as they say. Some people want more informative videos. Some would naturally go to diving/exploration videos, and that's fine to. I think, that community You guys managed to grow here is not only friendly enough, but just as understanding to each other. I think everyone realize that even thou this video may not be as appealing to some, others will enjoy it. Sorry for my english if its foulty, Im trying my best.

How much do I remember? 0/10 I have a horrible memory, I only remember there was a white layer with some rocks...
🤗🤗 yes please more of everithing 🌹
Like painting a house. Preparation is everything. Bring on more dive briefings I say.
You guys are also doing well by bringing attention using your platform to Shine light on the legends of cave diving
Well I know he knows that cave every inch it’s amazing how he explains every detail! You are two very fortunate to go in these caves!🎃
I could watch more videos like this gus. Keep it up!
He lost me when he asked how many cookies do you have. I had to go get a snack
Here we go!
Very detailed and interesting 👍
Definitely do more prep videos!
Great video! I would just love to see a 360 degree camera on your dives!
So we take a jump at cookie nr6 and 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Wow dude that is insane how detailed the briefing is ❤
I would just mimic Brian the entire dive 😂😂😂
I would say at this point 5/10
When still diving it would go 6@7 😂
Yes more of these unedited videos please 🙏
It would be so cool if you could do an edit where you show a section of the briefing then the video of the dive and go back and forth so we can truly associate the dive with the briefing.
It’s impressive how much respect divers have for nature.
Great episode
Can we see the video of the dive parallel to the briefing? Would be interesting. How about doing such a video? Setup and tech would be cool. Make more of Kiss;-).
Sounds very delicate and easy to damage. Would probably try to mimic his movements rather than rely totally on memory. Although a lot would probably come back as you progress through the cave.
I remember about 5percent lol but love to see more of everything before the dive thanks Gina from Alabama
I’ll be diving with Ed before I go there fire sure😂
More briefings!
He sounds kind of like a game master for DND with the level of detail and descriptions. Love it.
@S. M. 🤣 a dive talk connoisseur i see
Not a diver or swimmer but listen to all your safety and warnings ! I now lay a primary line ( garden strimer refill ) when get in the bath I have 4 sources of back up lights and Ed Sorensons number for rescue in case I get stuck ! Daughter might be closer but only want the best ! 😂 love your channel you keep one old lady from the UK safe !
Thought the briefing went well and wasn't too long! No one can't say they didn't know!
Amazing bits video. Do more.
Yea, how much do I remember? So I go lost at the very first jump off and didnt even keep up with the rest. Yea so minus 1 retention for me.
Well done guys. MAD attention to details. Feels like a topgun briefing 😅
Keep ‘em coming
I give myself a minus one. How wonderful Brian keeps these amazing gorgeous caves protected. Does he ever dive in the ocean or the caves are a full time job?
It’s a full time job but he does dove in the ocean from time to time, like during our Meetup in Cozumel next year!
Ahh I hope you post video from this dive!!
We did...the link is at the end of the video.
How about a 3...... So, just do what he does. I would be soooo paranoid to break a bunch of decorations! Yes more videos like this.
