I lived in Chapeltown for twenty years, I thought I knew it's history but you know far more and made it really interesting! Great work, as usual, Josh!

I hope you will mention the POW camp which was opposite the Acorn pub post war, families from Sheffield were housed in the barrocks a modern school was built on the POW grounds and children were shipped each morning on two double deck buses and one single decker from New Parsons Cross Sheffield I was one of the pupil's in the 1950s I don't think the school survived long after we left for Secondary school we were the baby boom after WW2 did you learn about WW2 in school ? You should've seen it before the Tory govt abolished the Wortley Rural District Council and forced Chap under the control of Sheffield Council in 1974. They immediately gave planning permission to build on four of the five field systems and all of the green space between Chap and High Green was covered with houses in just two years. Sheffield Council absolutely destroyed our area and it's never recovered.
