What a wonderful glimpse into a place I've not seen in many years. I have many ancestors from Ecclesfield (Trickett, Ronksley, Addy etc etc), thanks for making this.
You beeen down to Thundercliffe Grange mate? That's an interesting place, and theres apparently still a bench in Ecclesfield Church for the Lord Of Thundercliffe from the 18th centiry
Love your stuff pal, I'm a norfolk park born sheffield man. Fascinating....I did groundwork a few year ago when the new streetlights were going up, I know now why it was a nightmare digging on thorncliffe road near chap! Loads of lumps of slag from newton chambers....I worked allover sheff digging holes for 4 year, about 18 month up round ecclesfield, chap and high green. Loved the old areas I was in, once found a pit pony shoe (really small) up high green, was there a pit up there? And what's the story behind the road called "stones inge" up there? Always fascinated me that name and wondered why.
