I have had my 510 for one month now, I'm also proficient enough to be able to play this piece, and the sound is every bit as good as you can hear here, maybe better, as you can tweak it to your liking. One thing that doesn't come across well in all videos I've seen is the sound difference in the included samples. Which are worlds apart and all amazing. I had a CA 99 which I ditched for the 510 and I own a real 7 foot grand, this is hands down my favourite instrument.

Hey Zac, thank for your comment. As you seem like an experienced player, can I ask you something?
I am a relative beginner, playing now in my second year. I take lessons and think make good progress, but of course I am unexperienced and somehow I can't fully trust on my feeling. Due to my high interest in pianos in general I played a LOT pianos, both digital and non digital in stores in and around Berlin. To my surprise, I liked the action of the GP510/310 way better then the GFIII of Kawai, the Roland PHA-50/"Hybrid" Action and Yamahas action. To me it felt and played a lot more authentic to real actions and it also has excellent MIDI Response (I would like to use the piano also as a MIDI Controller to use it with Piano VST Software like Pianoteq). The only actions I liked equally or better are the Grand Hybrids with real Grand Action of Yamaha (N1X) and Kawai (NV-10), which are unfortunately double the price (or even more!). I want to ask you if you could be so kind to describe why you ditched the CA99 for the 510 and what exactly makes you like the action of the Casio better (for example why it it better playable for certain techniques/pieces? I would be really really grateful for your help! Thanks. :)

@@AP-dj7ec hey, if you search in UA-cam there is a video by Merriam pianos on the 510 vs the CA99 which goes quite in depth on the action of both, the 310 has the same action.
The biggest killer for me was the CA99 had a buzzing sound coming from the speakers on certain notes, others can hear this buzzing too if you do a search on that, I believe it to be in the sampling as I could hear it through headphones too.
The Kawai is a very light action which does lack a lot of the depth and control of the Casio, I'm afraid though for all the talk you would still have to experience it yourself if possible.
Good luck with your learning, it never stops.

@@zac2624 thank you so much for your super fast answer! I will look at the video of merriam. Stu is great reviewer and piano player.
I tried the CA99 and didn't like the feeling of the action. It was good playable, also very sensitive high in the keys. But to me the action per se felt to light, unsubstantial, fluffy and spongy. It felt so wrong und unauthentic, I coudn't enjoy it. I even bought a MP11SE with the Grand Feel 1 because its much cheaper than the cabinet Pianos with the GF, but it was the same. So I was really suprised when I tried the Casio, that is how I expected the Kawai Grand Feel to feel like....

@@AP-dj7ec you're most welcome, your observations on the Kawai action are correct.
One thing no reviewer seems to talk about is the music stand on the Kawai is a real pain! Unless you're using a book, individual sheets of music, say from your own printer are impossible as they fold back towards the lid, and it's so shallow that only 1 book at a time is possible. The Casio doesn't suffer this as it uses a grand style stand.

Absolutely amazing.Superb playing. So effortlessly. this performance is nothing short of phenomenal.
I never thought I’d see the day when I fell instantly in identity with a classical pianist Katerina So beautiful, eloquent tone,
    flawles technique.
I'm a prodigy classical musician, for me this version is EXACTLY how I understand this piece. You express Katerina what Beethoven wanted on this masterpiece composition!!! Awesome artistic experience to stand and live through the ages. What lovely performance thank you a great way to start a new composition.(Indeed I weep every time when I listen this unique Sonata Op. 27 n. 2 Moonlight Sonata.)
Katerina Titova is almost no longer an artist, but more a messenger. In my eyes she has long ago overcome the challenges of acquiring technique
necessary for refined musicianship. She is past the long hours of mental exertion, analysis and study to achieve delicate and moving artistry.
I profoundly respect and admire an artist that doesn't first impress me with her knowledge or skill. I hear this and I hear a superior voice
speaking not to my mind but to ME. The mind is always quick to analyze and is hungry for details, but the soul isn't. She is in no such rush. This is both music for my mind and a gentle caress to my soul, and I give thanks to God that such so precious women walk this earth showing others the way.
In this his magistral Moonlight Sonata Beethoven expands the singular beginning verses of the poem inspired by the Eroica in Ostrava in summer during sunrise. The night is thinning again how the volleys thunder.
Beethoven indeed know he would live forever. Why?
Because for me (always strongly inspired by him) Ludwig van Beethoven IS the very apex from the Human Creation.
He remains not surpassed by anyone .He stands reverentlly by meritus & absolute grace close near and imbricated with The Mind And Heart From God." ― Yan Ayrton, a composer in development and evolution.

I've had my new Casio GP510 for a few days now and I really love it. I had the GP500 before but swapped it for an expensive, brand new, Yamaha C1X grand fitted with a silent system because I wanted a 'real' piano. I actually preferred the Casio so after much anguish I sold the Yamaha and I've gone back to another Casio. In my opinion the GP510 has a better base than a small acoustic grand piano (even an expensive one) it's also easier to play at a sensible volume level without disturbing people several rooms away.

    • @MrMarcec85
      @MrMarcec85 5 років тому

@Michael i have never even touched one, but the new one looks more solid. There is a previous video playing Rach. At one point, in a "fff" i guess, you can see the piano moving a bit. This one is "taller" so you have the "volume" of real acoustic, and looks more sturdy. I also think the audio part improved. I have a question either: considerations about the Bechstein action against the Kawai action? I really don't care about the sound. I would play it with headphones. The casio is way chepaer, and for what I know, the big difference is in the sound, but someone said that the Bechstein action is even better than the kawai's one. So for me it would be a win-win 😅

    • @simonjohnson1
      @simonjohnson1 5 років тому +1

@Michael Not much difference really. Perhaps a slightly improved bass sound and slightly easier to play very quietly but as I no longer have the 500 to compare it to it's hard to be sure. For both versions the sound on the headphones is excellent and the sound on the piano's speakers is less good but not bad.

@@simonjohnson1 I have had the Casio GP300 for 3 years now and thoroughly enjoy it. I would nevertheless consider upgrading to the 510. I have a couple of comments I'd like to pass on to would-be buyers: (1) I play only on the Berlin Grand tone exclusively because I cannot get a comparably acoustic sound out of the available other two tones (Hamburg and Vienna). Obviously, Kateryna Titova gets an authentically acoustic sound from the Hamburg tone on this 510 which she is performing on here. It must have to do with the style in which one is playing or possibly the difference in piano models. (2) I searched for headphones that would most duplicate the sound I get from playing the piano without headphones. After trying very expensive ones to inexpensive ones, I found the best headphones for replicating the sound without headphones is the least expensive I tried - the JVC Flats ($20 USD). If it wasn't for the fact that I have headphones on, I cannot tell the difference. One other thing to add: I covered the Casio name on the front of the piano with the Bechstein name and logo I copied from the internet. One cannot tell that I did this by looking at it. Just gives the piano a more distinguished look.

Did you play them in a showroom? The touch/key action is very nice, firm touch, realistic action, not as the real acoustic grand pianos, but near it When I played for few minutes the Casio GP510 in a showroom, I could feel immediately the hammer action with the real hammers. The sound is also nice (it was the Berlin one), but I put the maximum volume, and it seemed to me a bit weak sound. Weaker than in the video. So, a nice sound but a bit weak at the highest volume. Maybe in this video is used some application. I don't know. I'm almost did my choice and purchase it anyway, because of the nice action/touch

Dear Casio, it sounds amazing but if you notice most people who will be in this price range pay attention to detail,
that little red $.01 cent light in front of the piano cheapened the look of this beautiful piano.
I highly suggest to remove the little red light.
Add a high end self serviceable led light under the piano base of the piano keys in the center wear the legs rest,
when the piano is powered on it lights up with hue of light in the color of the Casio logo that can be dimmed while playing or shut off completely.

@@julianmanjarres1998I played in a showroom the Kawai 99/701/901 and Novus10. I was extremely disappointed by the unrealistic lightness of the key action/touch. It's too much lighter than any average acoustic grand piano, that what you play in the Kawai any advanced classical music repertoire, you struggle to play it on the acoustic grand pianos, if studying on the Kawai only. I tried in another showroom the Casio GP510, and it was much much better than I thought. The touch is nicely heavier than the Kawai, and the action is more authentic, closer to an acoustic grand piano. The sound also is nice, but I set the maximum volume and it seemed to me a bit weak, nice but weak. Anyway now after the disappointment of the Kawai, I think I will purchase the Casio GP510. It doesn't have Bluetooth though. But I don't care. For my needs the touch/action is the priority

I have the GP-500 and it took a couple of weeks to find all the right settings that really make me happy. It’s impossible to have one setup to its fullest potential in a store since people change the settings during a demo trying the instrument. Even selecting the correct room setting makes a big difference. These settings add a resonance that lengthens the tone after a chord is struck. The French Cathedral gives an exaggerated echo affect. I like the New York room setting as it adds just a slight affect making it more natural. I raised all the tone settings just slightly and the piano now sounds very close to an acoustic instrument and much less electronic. Casio gives you all the sound tools to really control the sound. I feel I’ve become a piano technician and now my piano really sounds like the three grand pianos I want to hear and play. It’s fantastic. Even the peddling is different between each piano.

But the Hamburg and Hamburg Mellow are so sweet and soft. And I love play Bach and Rameau with Viena/ Viena Mellow sound at 415Hz and Werchmeister temperament. An amazing Baroque feeling. And you can also adapt the ambience to your room to gey a better experience. I advise you test some configurations snd set to your default setup or as user scene.

The box is woid made but I think is not "mature" enough as a acoustic piano. So, in beginning there is some changes on the body acoustic for a time. Sbtil, but annoying It will stabilize with time. In Brazil the temperatures and air moisture have a large range along the year. Hot and dry. Cold dry hot and wet... the woods works a lot for time .

One would have to presume that the audio we hear in this UA-cam video is coming from the Line Out jack rather than being picked up by microphones from the instrument's speakers. I would also think that the same thing applied to the Rachmaninoff number she played on the Casio GP500. The former was spectacular and prompted my wife and I to seriously consider a GP500. This video on the other hand leaves me COLD and we're not even interested in going to a dealership to check out the GP510. It doesn't sound remotely close to an acoustic piano, even through an exceptional set of headphones. Also, seeing ZERO evidence of ANY electrical cord or audio cable leaves me wondering WHAT exactly was I hearing?
