My grandpa gave me his Asus Chrome book when I visited him in TN. I love it, fast battery last forever, and most importantly it's small. Because of it i don't have to lug my big MSI laptop on trips. The only problem I have with it is Chrome OS... Hate it. Worse than Mac OS. Can't wait to have windows on this thing lol

You'll likely find it slower and with less battery life since Windows needs a lot more than ChromeOS to run well. Not that it won't be useable, just not as fast or able to run as long most likely.

Google’s support forums reminds me of the “Soup Natzi” chef ... but this poorly implemented POS drove me more mad than an experience of seeing a person not wearing a mask in public areas during a global pandemic... 1:02 it allows you to rewrite the bios since chromebooks' default bios does not allow for alternative os booting. other than that great tutorial, i got lucky and had the same model as you
1:03 removing the write protect screw allows you to overwrite the chromebooks firmware (or bios), which allows for installation of other oses like windows
I believe it is MBR, I am not 100% sure, and it is hard to convert back to GPT if you have already done it. Do more research before you continue, I AM NOT SURE IF IT IS MBR, warning!

I'm not sure there is a way to reboot a Chromebook with an external keyboard, but I will keep looking. You might be able to fix your Chromebook's keyboard. Is it just not working, or is it smashed or something?

Yes, Linux is possible and almost all my Chromebooks run Ubuntu. All you have to do is use a Linux USB drive installer instead of Windows. Could you explain in more detail the problem you are having with entering the bios?
@@PKCubed well i got into developer mode, and i ran the code, and pressed 1 and enter several times, than would shut off the laptop and try to enter the bios but everytime i would try to it would enter me into the recovery menu and i would press ctrl + d to get out, and it would simply boot up windows all over again

I could not get the touch screen to work on Windows 10, but it does work with Linux, so it is probably possible. I would suggest asking the same question on the Chrultrabook subreddit. That is the best place to ask questions about your installation of the coreboot firmware on a Chromebook.

I had to disable the battery because there wasn't a write protect screw . After entering the shell command the options highlighted are #2 and #3 with no option to pick #1 . Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated

You will need a computer: Windows, Mac, or Linux, to flash the file onto the drive. You can't just put the files on the drive. Do you have a Mac or Linux computer? I can help you do the same process on them.
Depends on what Chromebook you have, if it's a flash storage, you can't upgrade it unfortunately If it's an SSD (solid state drive) like an nvme or m.2, you can upgrade it

I believe all functionality should work. I tested both the webcam and the speakers. They both work fine.

From what I can tell, *every* chromebook has a write protect screw or a write protect switch. This time, go back inside and try your best.

Depends on what Chromebook you have, if it's a flash storage, you can't upgrade it unfortunately
If it's an SSD (solid state drive) like an nvme or m.2, you can upgrade it
If you need to save some space try debloating windows and compress the os binary using compactOS feature

You can but it will very likely get you in trouble with your school as you won't be able to use chrome os again.

I have the same chromebook as you, switches it off, removed the screw turned it back on but it seemed it did not go into developer mode, just straight back to the normal log in screen
After you turn it back on, hold ESC and Refresh at the same time, and press the Power key. Then use CTRL+D to use Developer Mode.

You should be able to run just about any operating system through the usb drive, sd card, or by installing it onto the internal ssd.
