- With many older Chromebooks no longer being supported for ChromeOS updates, some people may want to see what their other options are. Luckily, there is a way to install Windows or Linux on a Chromebook with a little bit of work. In this video, we're going to be installing Windows 11 on an Acer C740 Chromebook.

Definitely one of the better videos Ive seen on how to install windows on a chrome book. Like others have mentioned, the other videos seem to have the information a little disorganized and vague. This didn't work for my chromebook but I appreciate the quality tutorial!

I recommend installing Zorin os Lite, lighter and more fluid than win11 for a weak PC, in addition to having better driver support.
do you have any problem installing crostouchpad ? i keep getting error and the laptop just crash if install it

Hi, i have a doubt, it windows really work good on a chromebook or it is gonna have a better performance with an arch linux? i need to know this because i have a lot of doubts about what os install in my chromebook. Other doubt is if i have to change the m.2 to a one with bigger cappacity

U get any usb and download windows on it and if you don’t know how to do that search on any computer windows 10 download insert the usb in the computer ur downloading windows and download it then u have the usb with windows 10

@@QuranicRecitaion I never bothered to do any of them. Windows 10 and 11 just are too big and too unnecessary for Chromebooks.

Works here, but Windows 11 doesn`t complete instalation. Popups that Windows cant execute on this computer, than I have to create a Bypass Keys on the regedit and the instalation goes on, but after installed OS, in my case dont work the touchpad, touchScreen and audio... But thanks for the video and explanation. My notebook is a HP c640 PRO Enterprise, and I Have to pull off the battery to flash the BIOS. Use a Nobreak! lol Best Regards!
BTW if you can't find the write protection screw and your Chromebook was made after 2014, then you'll have to take out the battery instead.
It probably depends on which Chromebook. I have a Chromebook 11 3180 I couldn't find the write protection screw and it doesn't have a removable battery, but I was still able to install Windows on it.

@@babatundesalman8297 i also have a lenovo IdeaPad 3, the right protection screw isnt there, so you need to unplug the battery and trun your device into dev mode and enter a few commands

I did this and it works well! I did end up having to use a usb bluetooth dongle, because I could not get the buit-in bluetooth to work. Anyone with a solution to this, please let me know! Thank you!
That was simply awesome. Is it possible to go back to Chrome OS again? I have a recovery USB, done with Chromebook Recovery Utility. I suppose in this case, I have to save the firmware on an USB stick if we want to refresh it back again to Chrome OS configuration, but the of the commands I don't know.

You can just flash chrome os flex. You have both chrome os and Coreboot

some have the screws underneath the battery
you need to probably unplug the battery and turn your device into dev mode and enter a few command that will turn write protection off

What do you mean with custom USB Windows, isn't the regular?
You have to bypass the system requirements in rufus or in the installation process using the registry editor

Yes I would strongly recommend to install Linux mint instead of Windows because that's what I'm doing and it's working like a charm

A little late but Google how to disable write protection without screw, some Chromebooks like mine don't have one and you have to go into dev mode

You can use another computer to make a Windows USB? You really couldn't use ChromeOS to make that USB anyway
just do normal boot, idk if it will work tho

Depends if it's a high end chromebook maybe? If it's a low end ine then yes.

I'm not sure if that processor is supported (since it's relatively new)... you can try, but you may risk bricking the CB
@@bubhub10 I have an hp 14a too, I installed windows 10 and with great difficulty I got the video and touchpad driver, but the audio driver is installed but it doesn't work: STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE

U get any usb and download windows on it and if you don’t know how to do that search on any computer windows 10 download insert the usb in the computer ur downloading windows and download it then u have the usb with windows 10

That depends on your chromebooks specs. Normally chromebooks have pretty bad hardware, but sometimes they have good specs. In my case I have a chromebook with a pretty good intel i5 and 8 gb of RAM and can play quite a bit of games, on the other hand my brother has a pc with Intel Celron prosseser and 4 gb of RAM. His would not be able to play most things.
