You’re a lifesaver mate. I’m still getting bodied in ranked trying to remember key moves, let alone trying to think of any combos. Bind grabs are saving me rn lol
@@beigemaster for sure. Coming from a 2d background (and NRS specifically) I can understand a lot of inputs but specific ones liked df or 1+2 for example takes me a bit more to understand. Would you ever do replay reviews along the line?
@@wren8253 replays would be awesome to do, but Im not sure I could commit to it time-wise, there’s a channel on UA-cam called ‘Tyler 2k’ and he’s possibly the biggest Tekken nerd in the world when it comes to general knowledge and I know he does weekly replay analysis for his viewers called ‘Tekken you to school’ so you might want to check him out
Just got into tekken and picked up king because hes the only character i remember from like 7years ago and this has been a huge help in learning the game/kings moveset and playstyle
Thank the lord! Someone who understands a guide doesn't mean going through an entire move list. I don't need to memorize 120 moves. I need 2-3 good strings, 2-3 good throws, 2-3 good counters, 1-2 combos, and I'll add more when I master those! Your guides are amazing! Thank you!!
This channel should be huge man, not many people use this sort of in depth cognitive modeling approach to Tekken and it's really just incredible for a beginner like me
Thanks for the kind words. There’s definitely others that do the more long form guides, but I don’t think anyone else does it for King. Guess it’s just my age!
really good love the way this is laid out you can skim to the timestamps and see the input easily to refresh and try in games. Love the layout good stuff
I have been climbing the ranks but definitely encountered some players that I could not open up (kept blocking every move, and broke most throws). This video helps a lot because I know now to not show all my cards immediately (delay 2nd hits on mid checks or only use 1 hit for conditioning). Thanks again!
I just started tekken 8 last week and its my first ever fighting game. Thank you so much for this guide. I have been wanting to spam throws but i am slowly lesrning they are mixups rather than the main break and butter
I was very surprised that this was such a great guide explaining everything most people dont I would love a guide on steve fox that would be incredible most guides arent great 👍
There’s no way I could do one for Steve that would do any justice! Wait for ‘That Blasted Salami’ those guys make literally the best guides for Tekken characters and Arya is a Steve main, so that guide with be godlike.
I’m new to Tekken. I’ve played Mortal Kombat, Injustice, and Street fighter my whole life. This is my first 3D fighter. I fell in love with this game. I’m a King Only for right now just to learn the game, but I have noticed he has REALLY good buttons. I feel like I have 1/4th of his move list mastered. The command grab inputs are still difficult for me. I end up taking most of my wins from his 2 10 hit combos and his 1,2,1, 2+3 mix up. Then when they want to get aggressive I throw out the back 1, 2 just simply because it comes out fast counter hit then Jag step 1+3. I also have a huge problem side stepping.
appreciation post: these guides have been great keep it up bro. i just got the game 2 days ago and im already convinced, King is the best grappler of all fighting games. As a MK player, this is my first tekken and its really been an eye opener in terms of how deep the fighting game iceberg really goes.
Ok ok ok now I’m not going to lie this is the most in depth guide for king I’ve ever seen I saw majin guide maybe a week ago there’s a ton of stuff he didn’t explain compared to what you explained he said giant swing after every jab lol you explained why the jab set up is good
Ive been taking notes and have applied what you've been sharing in your vids to my fighting technique and I must say it's been really helpful. Thanks a bunch!
The only thing I recommend is going over the frame data on block as well. Not every jab or jab string will hit, ya know. So it’s a good idea to show beginners when they can take their turn or not. Not a criticism just advice, great video!!!
Good call, I’ll probably discuss this in a future guide when we go over sidestepping and when is a good time to incorporate that in the neutral game- and frames on block become more and more relevant!
nice guides i started to learn this game today and struggling with diagonal input on my keboard(on gamepad cross its easy) but i want to stay on keyboard
Yeah, can feel a bit off knowing you have to hit two buttons together to get one input- but if you can master on keyboard/mix box then it probably is the best controller for doing really hard stuff!
@beigemaster Can you do a video on The nerfed C/H launchers . FF1 C/H D/B 3 C/H SIDESTEP 2 C/H BACK 1 C/H ETC . . . All these moves had combos in 7 . Can you help the T7 legacy Kings and the noobies to 8 with the optimal follow ups to these move now . Keep the Great vids coming .
Thanks for the vid! What’s your advice on defense for King who knows little character combo knowledge? There’s so many characters with so many combo strings, it forces me to play aggressively. Obviously someone who knows how to counter King, I get obliterated. It would take a long time by the time I recognize some of combos I can counter.
I'm brand new to Tekken and I picked up King recently and in low ranks plus with my friends (we're all learning it new right now) I've had alot of success with crouching 3+4 since you can mix up doing 1 hit, 2 hits, 3 hits, or even going into a mid on the 4th hit. I heard you say you dont really see much use for his other lows, is it just the frame 16 startup that makes this one meh or something else?
Please please please please DO NOT spam this string, any even half decent player will block and launch you every time because they’re so slow, there’s no mixup! ua-cam.com/video/sVaQ6wjreyI/v-deo.htmlsi=mk4wr8bMyo0CFtb5
Hey bro, I got a question, my friend play Lars and I keep getting blown up by his rush down. For whatever reason I can never seem to find an opening to make some space, he like to get in and press buttons non stop. On top of that for some reason Tekken 8 does not save our replays when we do sets so I cant see where I'm going wrong, what should I do when I'm getting Mixed up by Lars?
You’re a lifesaver mate. I’m still getting bodied in ranked trying to remember key moves, let alone trying to think of any combos. Bind grabs are saving me rn lol

Simply the best video I've found for learning King.
Glad it was helpful!
Really hope your channel blows up man. This kind of content is so important and sadly really rare. Keep it up! We’re all rooting for you o7

Im a veteran king player , this guide is very helpful , to know what strings are good to use in neutral .
Great video. Focusing on a smaller number of core tools and explaining the pros and cons in detail is a great way to teach.
I like seeing this early guide content. Seasoned King player, but I enjoy refreshing. Thanks for making this.
No problem, always happy to take other suggestions from fellow King Mains 👑
