A classic song from classic musicians and pop/rock stars. For those in the UK this song is also used in a charming film called Melody, about young love at school with Jack Wild, Mark Lester and Tracy Hyde. Also in the film are some early Bee Gees hits, they all fit the the plot of the film which was written by Alan Parker. Nostalgia? You bet, by the bucket load.
Watched the film "Melody" a couple of times those days - simply to watch Tracy Hyde! But this song is, as was then, a real listening pleasure - the harmony and the guitar playing are superb.
I've been able to see them at least four times in person over the years. They never gave a lousy performance and their songs will live on forever. I play and teach those songs to a younger generation because most of them aren't familiar with CS&N and it's important to let them know just what real vocals should sound like.
Amazing non egoistic harmonies serving only the song and strongly influenced by the classic american songwriters of the 40s / 50s ...in a word ...Genius :)
I managed to find a copy of Melody thru Amazon and the soundtrack takes you back to a time when whether it worked or not we all tried to make things better.
One of the best groups ever! This is one of my favorites too. Just an incredible blend of voices--unheard of today. LOVE CSN! This is the music I grew up on.
Our kids are loosing touch with what our fathers and grand fathers went through and how we ad to fight to make this world a place that was worth living in and now we need to bring them up to date PLEASE TEACH YOUR CHILDREN
Even if we try to understand and change ourselves, there are those who will not do the same, this creates conflict. One of the main problems we have in our society is bullying. Strong picking on the weak, this happens a lot within the school envoirnment. This has a bad effect on society. Not a lot is being done to tackle this problem
Why aren't there groups like this today instead of..........contemporary favorites with inability to write lyrics, no harmony, melody or composition, just dancing around?
Of course they're not. That's because our definition of innocence is arbitrary and incomplete. What is not arbitrary is that it is not about "us vs them" - we are them, they are us. So rather than try to study them like separate entities, let's worry about understanding and changing ourselves first. Then and only then will you improve on whatever it is that you hate.
Children are not all as innocent as they seem. Research have been done, which has proven that Children are able to lie and decieve at a very early age. They can be very cruel to other children. And it isnt all because of bad parents or because they learn it from adults.
Nobody sings harmonies like these guys....Steven Stills is a guitar god to me.....
Not to lecture or bore, but I love the MESSAGE of this song. I'm old, I'm disabled, and I'm a single parent - the advice is good.
