What could be cheaper than just taking the tube loose at the top and route the hose downwards? Exactly what I did for my fishing rig.

You don't need to block it off. Just take the hose out and leave it like that

@@smokeyjayshouse the wasted propulsion is next to nothing but my OCD would not allow me to leave it open. 😏

I did mine for free, take a 1/2 bolt, cut about 1 '' of hose , shove the bolt in the hose and clamp it all down.
