Elliott had a SOLID year that year, and it was so heartbreaking to see that wiggle off of 2 at Homestead. He and Terry Labonte finished 9th and 10th in points; not bad for the two grizzled vets!

39:55 pretty crazy that this would be the only title won between the 2 of them. Kenseth never going on to win another and Junior never getting one sadly.
If Mark Martin can't win a title as a driver, at least with his part ownership of the #17 car, he has a title as (part) car owner. As for Matt Kenseth, he'll forever be known as the last Winston Cup Champion. As a result, he's the last to hoist that famous trophy above his head when the title was secured
Good god the amount of bounce and travel these cars had back in the day is amazing. Honestly it gave every car on the track a sense of character. Just watching these suckers shoot down tracks like Darlington or Rockingham and seeing them bounce and sway all over the place fighting for control. THIS was NASCAR. All that power required skill and good handling to ensure you got that bad boy across the line. Nowadays?. . . NO. . .
Ok. I'm, NOT, A Fan Of The NASCAR Winston Cup Series. Never Wasn't, And Never Will Be, Before I Started Watching NASCAR In 2004, With The Chase. I Want The Original Chase Format With The 2004-2006 10 Driver/2004-2013 10 Chase Race Format With Chase Points, Back. But, For The NASCAR Xfinity Series And The NASCAR Truck Series, Bring Back The Full-Season Pointe Format.
And now Matt Kenseth is the head of the 2023 Hall of Fame class. What a legend Kenseth is

Matt Kenseth's livery will always be iconic. The yellow and black flow so well

Robby Gordon is the 2003 Road Course Champion
Newman had the most wins in 2003
yes, he had 8
@@bowserjr. and yet he didn't win the 2003 championship
@@matthewporrini50 because he had just as many DNF's along with that
@@devin26508yeah Kenseth was WAAAAAYYYY more consistent than Newman that year
Man I miss this era. Look at how much harder these cars were to drive. It made for exciting races and finishes. Nowadays it's just floor it and turn
Not to mention you could practically feel how fast they were going thanks to the great camera work
@@bowserjr. agreed. The video quality is much better thanks to stability and better framerate but you lose the sense of speed
Looking at the restrictor plate tracks. No one was getting runs back then . Not even laying back helped to get a run. Must've been frustrating
Dale Jr passed below the yellow line
He was forced
@@nascarandrc8296 not really lol

How the hell did Ryan Newman not win the championship this year 😂
if he did not win he wrecked
