I hope that you don't hold it against me as I was a Swab. OT in the Navfac 74-75 tracking those pesky Russian subs. One evening after watch, 2300 or so, we were out in the Tundra celebrating our 80 hour break, when a C141 landed and was instantly surrounded by Marines. A large container was offloaded and transported up the hill to the underground storage facility. We all knew what it was. I'll never forget the feeling of awe watching that take place. Thank you.
I was stationed there 1970-1971 at the Marine Corps Barracks. Top secret stuff. Many stories. Many memories. I was the youngest Sergeant E5 in the Marine Corps at the time, 19 years old. Great memories. Great homesickness.
I did my tour in the navy march 77-78 as a crash crew firefighter member for the flightline birthing in Birchwood barracks.
I was in the Fire Dept Jan.-Dec.1976 Bering Hill I was the Engineer on Company 3.
