@@justinstravel I think I did this approach on a Delta A319 from MSP but it was at night. I should've taken the nonstop from LAX on a DL 757 which would've been freaking awesome (and during the day) and likely would've been on the river approach.
I fly SouthWest out of DCA, the old rotunda section. My favorite spot is the big windows with the rocking chairs where you can watch landings and takeoffs with full view. I love Reagan National.
My first time doing this approach, I had never heard/seen anything about it. I kid you not as we came in I *air quotes* questioned if the plane was actually landing *air quotes* and said a little “oh please, oh please, oh please”. After learning about this approach... like literally immediately upon landing during my layover... I was fascinated and determined to get this shot. Doing so in a big bird would be awesome!!
@@justinstravel my parents lived in northwest DC just a few blocks down from Sibley Hospital we used to sit on the back porch and watch the planes come in
@@jungletension2835 living in St. Pete Florida I have the privilege of most approaches to TPA swooping over the bay to land and pass right overhead. However if I'm really looking for that rush, you can walk on the sidewalk at the end of Runway 19L (don't quote me going from memory lol) and I mean... the threshold isn't St. Marteens Beach close... BUT IT'S PRETTY CLOSE. Ugh... now I wanna go watch planes! haha
@@justinstravel my wife and I live in a condo on the beach in Pompano. There must be some sort of marker just offshore and to the north of us out on the ocean because the planes landing in Fort Lauderdale would come in right overhead of us their approach usually was from the West to land at Fort Lauderdale it's amazing to see the drop in air traffic it's hardly any flights going over head anymore
I flew the SRQ to DCA route and i was sitting on the right side over the wing on this approach. The last turn over the bridge was actually quite unexpected for some reason lol.
In the us, I don’t think any airport has a better approach than DCA. It’s beautiful. The only one that can compare is the runway 22 approach for LGA, because you get a beautiful view of Manhattan.
Dca has one of the best approaches in America especially that turn
I actually lol'd putting the timestamp in for "established" and "touchdown"
Fr I flew from SRQ to DCA on this river visual approach and that last turn caught a lot of us off guard lmao
I remember landing here on a windy day in an E-175 out of Little Rock. One of the bumpiest rides of my life!
This landing used to terrify me!
I love the scene around the monument in dc
Breathtaking!
I the first time I went to Washington DC back when I was 8 grade in 07 and it is so much fun
Beautifully shot. Flying into Reagan on Saturday!
One of the coolest approaches in the world
This approach *always* makes me so happy 🙂 And I live in Los Angeles, CA for that matter.
I flew to DCA earlier in the year and was so excited to get a new version of this shot and the visual was not the route that day sadly…

I’ve only been a couple of times but those times I had a rockin time at the bars in the airport
utterly beautiful city
Believe it or not I’ve never stayed! Just flown through!
@@justinstravel i was just watching some approaches to eastern cities, the comparison is shocking, the west created great things

Of course! Hopefully I have a 2024 version of this flight in about a month!
@@justinstravel that’s great, I’ll stay tuned!📺
Who still with me watching this video clip on March 13th 2021. The view was really cool.. thanks for sharing this video clip. Good day from Asia.
This is one of the most iconic approaches you can take 🤙🏻

I once Flew out of JFK because I wanted a view of the city. It was before I did this whole thing 😂🤷🏼♂️
Such a convenient location. Very jealous of anyone who can get from an airport to downtown in a matter of minutes.
Lol with DC traffic? Good luck
