In Judaism, marriage can be enacted via the groom handing money to the bride. Talmud learns this from "kicha kicha from the field of Efron." The one Biblical verse that speaks of marriage begins "ki yikach, when a man takes a woman". The same word yikach, is used by Abraham's purchase of a burial plot for Sarah from Efron. since by Abraham's purchase of the land the Bible specifies it was "taken" with money, so too when the Torah uses the term "yikach, to take" by marriage it teaches that money can be used as the medium
I'd like to propose a new tax called the 'control tax' which will tax people and institutions that have influence on systems of control. The tax rate will be decided upon by the citizens through a ranked voting system. The intention is to have influencers pay their "fair share" as they attempt to consolidate businesses/competition and plunder private property. Those in charge of powerful institutions care little about ownership as long as they can control the goods and services.
Around 1:21:50 Schindler talks about sacrificing time spent on playing video games to get good at playing the piano. I really dislike the term "sacrifice" here. Saifedean also uses it often in his writing. I like to substitute it with "invest". A sacrifice entails a net negative. A destruction. An investment is at least made with the expectation of a gain. A net positive. I know its pedantic and maybe very personal. An analogy might be the concept of being for something instead of simply against something.
That isn’t wrong, but it’s a very conventional understanding of sacrifice. Literally, sacrifice means to make holy. It means you’re setting it aside for something, which is another way of saying, you’re investing it.
Christianity uses god as a means to salvation. Christianity is pragmatism in a supernatural context. Judaism preaches morality out of a sense of duty, not based on what you get out of it
