Syd was NOT ousted from the group he faded away from the group he suffered from Schizophrenia and was introduced to LSD .
This. Its wasnt just the lsd he was already suffering from underlying mental illness, i hate that everybody skips over that part

Syd had a psychotic break. I've never heard that it was definatively related to drugs. Young people, particularly young men are most at risk for a psychotic break from a variety of reasons like fame, stress, lack of coping mechanisms with demanding school or work schedules. The fact that he shaved his head, his eyebrows and gained a huge amount of weight in a relatively short period of time is indicative of a psychotic break like schizophrenia. In articles I have read through the years, that is what they claim happened to him. I'm not saying he didn't do acid. O am saying there's more proof of a case of a psychotic break due to schizophrenia than acid use. They tried to carry on with him, but it became clear that wasn't possible when he couldn't perform on stage.

The band members helped him and loved him and stayed in touch with him all these years thank you so much for saying that. You are a word Smith

@@kellyrhoads1067 there is no “kinda like” & that’s the enigma of PF, it’s supposed to mean something to YOU & I think that’s the “cloud” that the band interpreted behind this song, Syd Barrett is not the Kevin Bacon of music, but if you want him to be than that’s fine 👍…. So maybe that’s why no band members say “it’s particularly about Syd” but, they do say that SOYCD is infact “particularly about Syd”….. the album at face value is not about Syd Barrett & the entire band has been crystal clear about that 😏

Ok so you got part of it correct, but he had scitofrania and the acid didn't help his sickness, and that I what happen, and that has come straight from waters and gilmores mouth. In many many interviews over the years.
