- Built the 4th week of June 1967 at the Atlanta, GA assembly plant and sold new at Tarr Chevrolet in Jefferson City, TN, One of only 612 RPO L78 1967 SS396 Chevelles. Built with Muncie M21 trans, 3.55 rear axle, tinted windshield, and deluxe seat belts.
My favorite year of chevelle 67 and favorite color maina blue......! I love it patrick.....
i am 65 years old. my daddy was a car salesman all his life. in the 50-60s he sold new Chevrolets, my Neighbour teenager bought a new 67 ss396 from him, it was yellow. your car was probably ordered by a salesman and not a customer, they just didn't check the posi track option, that's all. or it could have been the only rearend they had that day as they were putting the car together. also bench seat is rare but not unheard of. the early 69 Z28 had no Cowel induction hood.
Holy Grail indeed. Apparently it’s been in the right hands since the first day it was driven off the lot.
Patrick thank you this is what I enjoy a survivor untouched.
My cousin lived in Eminence, KY. His neighbor bought a new 67 396-375 4spd. I got to take a ride in it. I peered over from the back seat to see how fast we were going . Over 100. And the odometer read 195 miles. 2 days old. I was 12. Some things you NEVER forget! What a feeling! ( I never had one. But, I did have a 67 El Camino). Great find!!!
I too was 12 in 67..older bro had 67 lemans..3 speed Hurst posi traction. I drove that up and down the driveway..those were the days.
Back in the '60s and '70s I probably went through over 100 cars or more the one I regret selling was a 62 Impala had the original 409 motor with a four-speed..So fast💨 the other one I got that Brand New my uncle owned a Pontiac dealership in Delaware was a 69 Trans Am white with blue racing stripes convertible.. I believe they only made "8" of them today I heard the 1969 Trans Am convertibles WS4-Motor are going for over $200,000 up to $1 million dollars.. I believe the base price was $3,500 I got all the options you could think of front wheel disc brakes so I basically walked out the dealership didn't even think about if they made 1" or 1 million of them $5,000 Dollars out the door..
@@melbourne-heat.69-71 If you had a 69 Trans Am convertible sir,you had one of the rarest cars ever built,I believe only about 7 or so we're made
@@kevinkendall3122 I googled and it came back that 8 were built
@@scotmandel6699 I knew they were super rare cars, believe they're bringing like a million dollars in some cases
OUTSTANDING! Absolutely amazing Chevelle, always loved the ‘67.
Favorite color for 67 Chevelle thanks for another one!
Marina Blue had to have been the most popular color for '66 and '67.I had seen more of the Marina Blue than any other in Ohio.
@@rolandgard6984 I agree had a relative with a 67 and I've seen a lot of people with in Georgia when was younger
Thank you for showing us this great, original car. Nothing better than original.
Congradulations on the super-awesome find! I love mid 60's GM body styling, Chevelles and big blocks. It just don't get much better than that!
It's pronounced Sw "i" tzer. I used to work there, they build clutch drive fans and turbo chargers for John Deer and Caterpillar
Great find, yes, that's when Gm did just about any combination you could get. Shifter on the hump with bench seat, and slip differential.
A super nice survivor that can be driven sparingly and never lose value.
Awesome find Patrick!! Brings back memories. My dad had one , same color in the late 70s.Only car that he ever scared me in. People would say, why are the lifters so loud in that car.lol.. In those days they bought recapped tires with minimal grooves in the tread from a shop in Falmouth Kentucky. They hooked up pretty good, I was flagging him and my uncle Dave in his 70 cutlass ( I was 12) the chevelle lost because it destroyed both back tires.. me and my brother picked up pieces and kept as souvenirs.. Thanks man, a memory forgotten until seeing this car
I'm in heaven just watching you go over this masterpiece. Thank again for sharing this with us.
What a find…. “Congratulations “ !!!
Great find Pat. They still are out there. Looking forward to more on the car.
Wow Patrick...What a beautifully cared for Chevelle. Amazing to think that it's 55 years old and the L-78 hasn't blown up yet! NICE JOB!
A Chevy. B B. Dont liked to be over reved. Other wise. A good engine. I had a 65 impala ss. With a 70 402 BB. 4 speed. Pass anything but a gas station lol
yt white, likely not the original engine.
If I recall back then 80,000-100,000 miles was considered worn out
@@RobertSmith-le8wp GM vehicles, that's damn sure right.
What a great find! As an older Boomer I think you’re going to find a lot more barn finds as more of our generation passes away. They are out there for sure just waiting to be discovered. I know there are others like me that have sold 60s muscle cars that we wish we could have back. This is one of those cars.
tell me about it..... recently turned 60... remembering the 68' Malibu I sold as a young fool
My brother in law probably had at least 50+ muscle cars through the years,he'd buy or trade for one every 3-4 weeks it seemed like, unfortunately he passed away just over 3 years ago, really miss that guy (RIP Dano)
I think the story is the same with most people. Once most people started having families and passed these down to the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th owners they usually rusted away or were just used up. My Dad had a fairly rare ‘70 Charger 440 and said after the oil embargo you practically couldn’t give these away. He replaced his Charger with a Pinto of all things
@@RobertSmith-le8wp Pinto! I hated working on Pinto’s….
Gen X...we love these also and dailied them through the 90s, at least I did .
Cant afford em today one day they will go down some in price just like the tri 5s t buckets and street rods did. Ill be gone by then
That's a gorgeous Chevelle, Malibu!!!
my mothers friend bought a new 1966 chevelle L78 when i was 13 years old the car had a M22 trany in it i remember that cool whine sound it made , I have owned three 66 chevelles tke one i have i have owned it almost 40 years
Leave it sweaty, it’s perfect!
Very very nice. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome car - I was on a vacation roadtrip a few years ago and a red one like this came up behind us on a secondary road. I rolled my windows down to hear it go by on the first straight stretch.
I had an 66 SS L-34 396 402 CI. It would walk away from the L-78 on the street. My friend had an L-78 and after a ride in mine he wouldn't even try me.
Nice 1967 My Aunt Bought 1 Brand New Stiill Got mid night 🌙 Blue It's Very Pretty
WOW ! More fun than a guy should be allowed to have.
My neighbor just picked up one.. and it is thrashed.. and he still payed a pretty penny for it.
That's the real deal. Imagine a standing start race. On 7.75 x 14" tires, open axle 😄
Just hearing it idle..... music, indeed.
What a beautiful Chevelle! Thanks for sharing Patrick 👍
Would sure like to have this one! Next favorite to a ‘70 Chevelle
I know someone with one of these in Macedonia, Ohio. It had like 20,000 miles on it and had only been wet one time it's life. He takes it to shows. What a beauty!!!!
Great find. Thnx for sharing. Bring it to MCACN in November so I can see it live.
My great uncle in Illinois has a 66 the same color. Perfect Car😎
My grandfather had a '65 Impala SW same color combination. I love these cars not only for their collectability and looks, but for the great memories they bring back. Beautiful Chevelle Patrick, congratulations, and enjoy.
My older brother bought one brand new just like it except in emerald green with black vinyl top black interior with a bench seat, he ordered buckets but it was delivered with a bench seat and he was furious! He did get a discount for the mistake however. I remember his also had a brake lock mounted under the dash on the left side near the parking brake lever. He got drafted and fought in the jungles of Vietnam and left the SS to me to take care of while he was gone.. I was only 15 at the time. My brother mounted grey spoke American mags and flame thrower bright lights as soon as he took delivery of the car and the hub caps went in the trunk.
Sadly, my father had to sell the car because he was stuck making the payments on it while my brother was gone… another returning Vietnam vet came with his father and bought the car. It broke my heart to see it leave my care. 😢.
Just a quick note: I almost got killed parking my Harley chopper at the bottom of a hill like you did. I was stopped at the stop sign putting on my gloves when a guy in a road runner came flying over the top
Of the hill at high speed. He had to crash his beautiful road runner Into the woods to avoid running over me! All I seen was his oil Pan when I turned around to see what was charging over the top of the hill straight at me. You would be better off filming on a flat open road next time!
A real beauty
That's 68k original miles.👍 Great find Patrick, another one saved.🙋
I enjoyed that, thanks Patrick
Even back in the day, these cars were rare. If you got a ride in a Chevelle, it was usually a four door. Performance has always been expensive. Nice car, btw.
Congratulations! Awesome find
What a great car! Very well done video and we appreciate what you do
Thanks for sharing, you always do a Great job. 👍
What an awesome time capsule. I really appreciate you sharing these cars with us
Leave some for me to find!! LOL!
What a beautiful monster, I'm 70 years old that really brings back the old days, Good times✌️✌️✌️
Great Survivor ! Great Find ! Congrats and thanks for posting !
My dream car! I would detail it and leave it as is. Preserve it as original as I could. It's beautiful
Im happy for you Patrick, but at the same time you make me sick! 😀👍
Incredible machine 😎
You CANNOT buy anything like this today, in a modern car.
Marina Blue!!!❤️🏆
I agree today cars are so much faster by so much, handle nicer, better gas mileage, last much longer, get better gas mileage, quieter interiors. Pretty much everything’s better today. With the exception of looks and that’s strictly off an opinion and I can respect that
@@montanaplease you think cars today will “last longer”??? You’re delusional lol
Congratz on the legendary blue Chevelle!!!
1966 and 1967 are the most desirable of the super sports in my opinion. Beautiful car.
I saw the FB release earlier. I’m here now.
Thank you for this content
She's a real beauty. And I think that I am even more amazed that it is a bench seat car, with a 4spd. Then I am, that is an open diff. car. But I sure would love to own it. Thanks for the video
68, ooo miles this is a gem 💎
Man you did good. Happy for ya buddy
It's beautiful.
Awesome, Congrats on the car
I understood you to say that you purchased this car I'm glad you did because I think you will take really good care of it. Congratulations thanks for sharing
Love the color, 4 speed, interior. Good stuff.
Wow! Very cool!
That's a badass car right there, love the taillights in 67
Patrick thanks for your work with the old cars I have Chevrolet by numbers 60 to 75 books but don't know nothing as in detail as you thanks again for helping us out with the history of old cars
In 1974 I bought a marina blue, black interior 67' ss 396 4 speed,, buckets, console, BEATIFUL all original car, I paid a whoppy thousand dollars for it,,,, boy have times changed! It wasn't a L-78, but still ran 12:77 @ 107 m.p.h. with a little tweaking,,, GOOD OL' DAYS!
No offense, but how did you run 12:77 in the qtr & it wasn’t even a L-78 ? I mean that would be a pretty good time even for a L-78. In the mid to late 60s, any car that broke into the 12s would outrun 90 percent of what was on the street. Low to mid 14s was typical, which doesn’t sound like a lot of difference, until you consider that for every 10th of a second, is around one car length for a car running at least 100 mph at the end of qtr, so in other words, only one second difference can be up to 8 to 10 cars in the qtr.
But of course there’s a lot of variables involved, so that’s just a rough average, but you get the idea, and you can have a lot horse power, but if you can’t get the rear tires to hook up, you might have to play catch up against a much slower car, that had a good pair of slicks, and you had street tires.
Beautiful car, I absolutely love Chevelle's. ❤️ I had a 70 Chevelle in the early 80s. Really miss it.
WoW ... one of my dream cars right there Patrick . Very nice find !!!
Beautiful Chevrolet
killer find and you were in my neck of the woods
Thanks PgN,
Definitely top of the list.
very cool!!! nothing beats original paint cars!!
Wow. Just wow. Original. My fav. Well. As original as you can muster up. I absolutely luv that period blue paint and interior.
Very fortunate find. These were a wicked street racer!!
That interior made me smile……… smoked a lot joints in my high school parking lot in my buddies 67 , not SS I think he got it from his grandma
Wow! What a find! Crazy
Nice 👍
Patrick nice find and presentation of the holy grail.

I knew a girl in high school that had one....she popped that clutch like a pro.
This is a good one Patrick - thanks for the video...
Blue is beautiful 😍 💙
Thank you sir for sharing
My dad had the exact same car when I was a kid. One Sunday driving home from church a valve broke and shoved a piston thru the block.
Mom drove a 1969 SS396 Chevelle yellow with a vinyl top.
Man I would love to have those cars back.
Congratulations Patrick what a true blue survivor you got there just perfect congratulations on that buy
I had a 67 when I was a kid [17yo]. I love that car.
love '67 body style, 396 torque was a head snapper!
I had that exact car but the 327 malibu, my first car. Thanks for bringing back the memory
This is AMAZING !
Patrick, thanks for the Honor of letting me Ride in this real deal, Super Sport. A complete OEM car, is very rare. This is a Gem. Hope it goes to a Big Block Lover. It was a smooth ride with the 375 thumping.
Gidday Patrick, love your channel mate what an awesome car!. Keep the content coming please I’m loving it down under.
Cheers Scoot
Great car
Beautiful Chevelle man...... enjoy it!!
I'm from east Tennessee we have a 69 super sport.
Some find! Beautiful Chevelle!👍😁🛠️
I love that sound when you close the door!👍what a cool find!😎I would have to put a 410 posi in that car!
Incredible find! Those L-78's can get it done on the drag strip. It is more than likely a 68K mile car, as those cars were run hard back in the day. Not to mention the original exhaust manifolds are still there. Great vid!
Agree...younger guys dont realize unless you kept a carbd car in great tune they were smoking bad by 80k
