Furality 2000 is how I started my UA-cam channel, and seeing it represented here to a larger audience that might not understand WHY we do these is so so so awesome. Thank you for putting a light to this, thank you for showing the world who and what we are. We do get a lot of hate online, and in VRChat espeicially. I can't really go into public instances without being called some very crude things. Furality is my safe space to express myself around like-minded people. I think that's why so many people adore it
Theres the problem, Too many toasters! I missed furality 2k, but i watched Raeal, Sudo, and several other Vtubers attend, the hype for luma was So Intense i Bought a quest 2 the day after furality 2k. Flash forward to Furality Luma Festival(just 3 years later) and im in one of the most expensive VR SetUps(minus FBT alas slime ia suffering shortages and has been pushed back to mid 23 ;-;) and the difference between quest 2 luma, and valve index luma festival made the festival combined with the lowered minicon price, and many of my best friends attending thanks to the free voucher progran for people who cant afford the con and while it was pretty overwhelmingly poorly optimized, i had an amazing time. The next con is called Furality Silvye, and it was described as IMO Furality, But Aberration from Ark Survival one of my favorite cannon maps in the game. Im so exicted ive already started making public ark themed avatars.
I've always thought the furry community looked like a fun group. It's not really my thing, but sometimes I feel more sad about that than anything else, they're so creative
There's not really a barrier. And generally to the extent of furry anyone tends to be in their avatar. We complain about work, chill, and just hang out. Even if you don't want a character, the avatars are neat anyway.
Hi, im a friendly cat on the internet, us fluffbutts dont mind hanging with peeps outside our group , not on VR or IRL , some friends of mine have been going to IRL furry cons even without being one , so if you have it in you to look over some of our unique social interactions you might find yourself having a good time, so dont be a stranger.
@@milomoody891 I'm a furry, and most of my friends (and even my wife) are non furries. There is no need to create a wall between you and furries. Remember it's just a hobby, an interest, like being an Otaku or a Star Wars fan.
I never understood Furries till I watched this video and It really shows how misunderstood these people are and it really breaks your heart how people treat them. Their just doing what they love to do, and I really respect that. For any Furries that read this comment, Keep doing what you love no matter what other people might say.❤
For the longest time, I thought Furries were a group of people online who were to be shamed and looked at weirdly due to what they did and were interested in. One of the downfalls of the Internet, misconstruing the information. Now that I've been an active user on VRC for 2 years I can say the internet was very wrong. Furries are among the most chill people I've ever met and all of them are great people to sit down and talk to. I seriously enjoy any moment I get a chance to experience their kindness and friendliness. If anyone in the comments can share this, please do. We need to change what the initial reaction to furries on the internet is
I agree to this i recently went onto VRC not long after seeing this video and checked out some Furry avatars found one i liked then went into a world that was just a chill world for furries and hell was i wrong about them i ended up meeting the most kind and amazing people and made some genuin fun moments with them and for real im glad i took the time to just sit and listen sure the internet paints furries in a bad light but it does not mean we need to hate on them for expessing there creativity and individuality.
@@ryanrar0839 the majority of developers - furries the majority of avatar creators/modelers - furries probably the most creative in designs - furries. stfu and cope.
Thank you for not being like most other youtubers who go to these conventions just to make comments under their breath after talking so positively towards someone attending. ive seen a trend lately of that. You were informative and entered with zero bias. Respect!
As a furry myself, I appreciate you for being so kind. The amount of insults I get on the daily from vrchat users just bc I’m a furry is insane. I’ve been told to do unimaginable things to myself so many times, it really doesn’t feel like an insult anymore lol. The good (you) weighs out the bad because of that. Tyvm! 💜
Bro you’re dad left before the universe existed you will be burnt to the ground like the 1800s you’re mother cared less than monkeys when she had you you’re more retarded than a new born pug you think fucking your pets is ok nah bro that shit is more wrong than then the fact that so many fathers are gone
Same here, I'm an artist and I'm inspired by their creativity. I want to learn to make some 3D models of furries. Only tricky thing is figuring out the anatomy, how to make fur, feathers, etc.
The hate tends to be around the super fetish side of them. I spent two years within the furry community, Mostly related to having a Tabaxi I played in D&D and I got art made through of about 20 different artists over that time period. And well, the artists are great, but a HUGE chunk of the community who is vocal they are super degenerates and some are down right creepy. That's the unfortunate side. Most of them aren't even artistic, The artists (many who aren't furries) are the backbone of creation within the community, because they are also easy commission money.
@@AthenaAutocross I personally think that if people are expressing their sexuality in a healthy manner (I.E. A way that doesn't cause harm to anyone and it is between consenting parties if multiple parties are involved) that you are A-OK in my book. I too, do the furry art thing, and I have friends with some pretty out-there things that get them going, and that they have asked or payed me to draw. I may not be into these things (and If they are something that skeeved me out, I'd politely decline), but I look upon the challenge to learn how to draw something new with excitement!
Furality is special. It's a dive into a world of joy and magic for a weekend, surrounded by the most creative and loveable people. I was one of the musical performers at this virtual con I think you caught it's spirit very well with this vid!! Love it ❤️
Quite honestly, furries are some of the most creative, passionate, and unique culture of individuals I ever met. I am glad you shared a positive note about them, because the negative online stigma is overbearingly detouring.
The Spray is SUCH an insane(ly good) idea! Honestly just goes to show how imaginative the furry community is. Like you said, yeah, sure, smell machines exist (and have been effectively used for similar purposes for decades), but actually engineering your own smell to make your VR Event more memorable is downright batshit insane in the best way possible. VR has already shown us that you don't need "perfect" to trick the brain into thinking it's receiving stimuli that don't actually exist in that form, so instead of building a machine to try and replicate smells of the environment, they designed what's essentially a simple room-freshener to reinforce the vibe of the event they were going for, it's brilliant! What I'm saying is: TVRS Studio Spray f-cking when?!
@@ryanrar0839 I assume you are a fellow anti furry this is a haven for us we can bully them as much as we want and no consequence but I have been banned from discord for conspiracy to kill a furry but nevertheless we will win
Not a furry but since playing VRC I've made a few friends in the community. They invited me to go to Aqua with them and I really wasn't sure about it at first. Long story short I went for my guys and to vibe. And vibe we did. By far my most memorable weekend in VRC. Cannot wait for the next event :)
Heyo, glad you enjoyed aqua. My gaming communtiy went to aqua but unfortunately i had a mental health crisis and missed out. Going in the public lobby lets me expeirience what they did my first furality was Luma, and i have not missed one since. I hope to see you at Silvye! In fact i hope everyone here goes to silvye, its worth the admission price.
Doesn’t matter what subculture it is, everyone just wants to have a good time :) plus the money donated to whatever charity / conservation thingy (sorry I forget the word) each event just adds to you. Like you’re telling me I can party with a lot of dope people and help animals / the environment at the same time? I’m in😂
@@sarntrex5776 That how the irl cons work too , you can also go to those without being a fluffy , in fact some of my friendss did just that. Its genuanely so welcoming that thinking back how nervous i was at first seems just funny.
The fandom needs more people like you, those coming in with an open mind, observing, and sharing their experience with the larger world. There's lots of hate being thrown around, much of it is undeserved, and any day the undeservedness of it gets highlighted is a good day.
I'll admit I scrubbed through frame by frame to see if I got in to the video x3 Thanks for covering Furality and for providing an unbiased take! It's a breath of fresh air to see more "normie" creators embracing the furry side of things :3
As soon as this popped up I immediately rushed to watch it! It was great vibing with you and everyone else at Furality and hope to see ya at the next Furality!
i am so glad you did a video on Furality and the convention in general, the whole experience with it has been an wonderful opportunity for others who not only don't have a chance to go to irl cons, but others who are genuinely curious about the fandom itself. glad to see you enjoyed that aspect and hope you can go to more of these vr cons :3
Acceptance is hard to come by.. And Ik its crazy.. But this person in that furry avatar is still a person... Just.. Like.. You.. With feelings, aspirations, needs and wants, void in chest, all there.. Same goes for about a milliom of us lmao
I think that immersion spray idea is really cool, especially if you never use it unless you’re in a certain world. I would imagine it would really help fool your train into thinking you’re in a certain place
Not a furry (you can see it on my avatar, that's my VR one), but I'm always curious what group of people exists there and want to hear how they really are. And as expected, they're great people. Weirdos exists in every bubble and sadly they get too often too much attention and didn't show how this community really is. So it is always great to have such videos that shows the real truth. Thanks for that.
It's so wonderful to see that so many had fun. But it also hurts because I was cut out of this event by the technical and management shortfalls. The sponsor included vouchers I'd handed out to friends were also effected. Support just pushed me off with "have patience" and still no reply from the help e-mail. But it's wonderful to see that so many still had a great time!
that's deeply unfortuante that that happened. sometimes, things fall through the cracks, but that's still no excuse, and I'd probably contact the furality team and see if they can do anything for you and your friends regarding admission to Furality Sylva?
As a furry who doesn't really get VR, this was an interesting video to watch. As you seem to be familiar with the non-furry side of it, coming in as an outsider to the furry con is a unique perspective. And while this video didn't convince me to make the leap, I enjoyed how positively you talked about the fandom's creative types.
I enjoy VR as someone who due to disability and the situation of my familial ties, i don't get a lot of chance to travel or get physically close with my friends. VR is a place for me to cast off the shackles of gender dysphoria and just... snuggle, even if I'm not exactly experiencing the warmth of the hug or the cool breeze from a mountaintop. VR is sweaty and disorienting and even uncomfortable after wearing it for enough time, but there's so much to enjoy and get swept up in as you are virtually whisked away to both the surreal and the mundane.
I’m so glad you got out there and met some amazing individuals! This community really has evolved and come together to create such incredible experiences (GO TEAM!) You did such a wonderful job covering Luma Festival thank you for coming down and making some new friends with us all! Hope to see you at Sylva! ❤
I'm so happy you did a video on Furality! Furality 2000 (the second ever Furality) was the first one I went to, and they've grown so much since. It's really incredible what they've achieved, and the VR furry community is just an incredible bunch, but we often get made fun of because of misconceptions being spread, but honestly, that doesn't stop us, it actually helps us prove people wrong lol. We're just people at the end of the day, Same as someone liking anime, same as someone who's literally in any other fandom, but we just want to be cute anthropomorphic animals, ourselves.
Not a furry but have interacted with a bunch of them. Honest to God, have never had a negative interaction/experience with one. They're just really nice people.
i hope you had loads of fun at the event, i cried happy tears going there and met so many genuinely, kind friendly, intersenting, people. btw what does the spray smell like?
Well, aqua smelt oceanic, fruity yet homely, and yet entirely alien. It was awesome. And i still use it to scent my furality aqua hoodie. Also, not that this is meant to be a sell to the incell, but ive had cuddle partners say it smells very very nice and that they didnt want to stop cuddling because apparently its calming enough to put thier minds at ease. I think its becuase it does smell like home.
This is really well done! Furality is definitely unlike anything I've ever experienced before, both VR-wise and even at in-person conventions. My first was Furality Luma in June of 2021 and I've not missed one since. This time I even ended up staying awake for the entire 30 hours of the con because there was so much going on that I lost track of the time :P I'm glad you got to experience this and had a good time in the process!
I love that you came into this so open minded, and I'm glad you enjoyed your time amongst us furries ^-^ It is an often misunderstood group but the friends we have all made have helped all of us in so many ways. Thanks for being so positive and uplifting, the internet truly needs more kind people like you!
Ironically, it's the reputation of 'cringe' that protects the community. The social climbers, the posers, the bullies and the others responsible for the vast majority of toxicity and anti-social destruction are repelled, keeping the communities relatively clean of the worst of humanity. And that increased level of social security gives the people in the communities the freedom of expression to be as 'cringe', in the eyes of outsiders, as they want. An ironic little self-sustaining circle. As such, I hope the furry fandom never goes mainstream lol. Nothing ruins it for the OG's like mainstream attention. Last thing you want in your hobbies, passions and freedom of expression is corporate culture's disgusting little fingers.
lol same here. it's one of the only communities that hasn't been perverted by the mainstream drawing in lots of, shall we say, "unmentionables".@@starylovesyo
'' keeping the communities relatively clean of the worst of humanity. '' Ahahaha holy shit I cannot imagine being this disconnected from reality. I'm a massive furfg and I can tell you for a fact that the ''cringe'' stuff achieves the opposite. It's a bright neon sign that attracts the worst of the worst, which makes sense because the community is so epicly wholesome and tolerant (of degenerate, wicked bs)
This comment is downright delusional and deceitful. The 'cringe' ''shield'' is exactly what attracts the worst of the worst into the community. The furry fandom's worst weakness is how open and ''tolerant'' they are. They could achieve alot of good with a bit of gatekeeping
Hey Phia! Thanks for giving this event the best chance you could and for approaching it with the level of openness that you did. You've been a great part of the VR community and it was some of your insights that helped both others and myself to get acquainted with it. In addition, as one of the many that helped with Luma Festival, seeing your coverage of it was an absolute blast and a great way to start the week! I'd have caught it sooner, but I was also helping with another VR event for the majority of the weekend, so in addition to the rest, thanks for giving me a boost on a rather dull Monday.
you dont need to be a furry to have a furry avatar, i think it was just for fun lol you can call urself a furry or not and still have some association with the fandom, its about what you want not what others say (in most aspects)
@@newoshiofficial1600 this looks like the maruchi base but if your interested theres also zoichi, rantichi, and povichi bases that resemble rabbits as well you can find these bases on gumroad and customize them to your liking in unity. theres a whole world of assets and prefabs you can add to an avi gumroad and booth being prominent sites for finding assets as for applying them youll have to either follow instructions provided by the asset creator upon downlaod/purchase or use youtube to learn how to do it yourself. the learning curve may be steep but theres alot of fun to be had. suffice to say before any of that follow a tutorial to setup unity for vrc content reation specifically and you can have fun from there or commission someone to do it for you.
I love this so much. Thank you for bringing more light to the community. I wish there was more people like you out there to spread the joy and love we strive to share with others.
This went from a furality review to a VRChat retrospective and communities and growth as a whole. Very well done video here, it's clear you have strong focus when writing your script and the truth just echos through your words is beautiful to hear. This video wasn't over the top or anything, just a short and concise video detailing your experience with Furality and furries as a whole.
Fun fact, Sorathesyke is actually my gym instructor in VRF Gym, a brilliantly built VR furry gym that's been consistently and professionally going on since 2020. I'm so thrilled to see her in this video!
Great video, Phia! A LOT of effort goes into Furality and I'm glad you saw that first hand, glad you had fun and wish more people were as open minded and accepting as you!
It's crazy to see how far Furality has gone over the course of 3 years. Furality 2000 changed my life and I had the opportunity to perform as a DJ for Luma in 2021. Each event really does bring out something new to the table and I'm always stunned by how much detail each event has. Your video is absolutely fantastic and I'm glad you had fun there! Hope to see you at the next one, and if not, maybe at another Furality event someday :D
glad to see you had a good time! this video was really sweet. I'm apart of the visual preformance band, Reclaimed Sound VR. we've preformed at every normal con accept for festival so we weren't there for when you went but we love to preform at these cons. also saw footage from our legends preformance in there, that's super cool!
8:00 Aww the Luma motif music makes me cry each time. IDK why but it was so special. Right after I helped throw Toronto's first VR Furry convention, and while I was still learning to make VR stuff myself, this festival comes out of nowhere and it's beautiful and so well done and cohesive and aaaaah!
furry phia (phurry???) is great!! very cute :D While I was always kinda neutral on furries, playing VRChat before I even worked on it made me realize that furries are literally the same as anyone who makes an OC-- their OC just happens to be... well, furry. I'm really glad that VR and VRC specifically gives everyone a chance to be exactly who they want to be. I've got a ton of friends who are furries and really enjoy seeing the amazing things the community comes up with, especially Furality. Also, its a bit of a meme, but furries basically run the internet, so best to maintain good relations.... maybe I should take up that offer from a friend to make a Protogen Tupper 🤔🤔
I'm legit surprised someone hasn't courted you on doing something that's not made from a base, but I do suppose you already have the cyber-fairy thing going on, so... protogen works!
It's a meme but also a fact. 90% of the entire IT sector is part of the furry community. Without us, the internet as we know today probably wouldn't exist
Im on my normie account Im one of the hosts of Furality (biscuitfister) Thank you so much for giving Furality an honest opinion and also the fandom an honest take. Its really nice to see some honest takes about the community.
Love 'em or hate 'em, but you cannot deny that the amount of work furries put into their Avatars and Worlds is nothing but awe inspiring. I love underwater themed Worlds so when i stumbled upon the Furality AQUA World it was truely a magical place, both visually and in sound design. Love the Video, keep it up!
the Furality team announced they have plans to make the Sylva Lobby public in a similar way that they made the Aqua lobby public. It's really fun, with trampolines and Ziplines connecting the treetop village together~!
I'm glad im not the only one with this, as someone who is not one but hangs out online with a few, I had to dip my legs to really see what's behind the curtain and realize how many people have just never tried interacting with one. Many, many are really nice, talented and supportive of each other like many other groups, heck I learned some very helpfull art tips from a few of them. And that's with many different people in general, sometimes you truly don't know what's on the other side unless you put yourself there
Furry here who was at Furality LUMA! I think the appeal of the furry community, at least localized in vr is that 1: furries are generally really cool people who make a lotta cool art and 2: You have literally infinite bounds for what virtual-physical form you can take, what's the point in being the same as you are in real life? The appeal of the festival for me at least was that it's a furry con but without any risk, time investment, or significant monetary cost and 10 bucks was absolutely worth the experience I got. Absolutely gonna be at Sylva, preferably with some solid friends this time so I do not once again have my crushing loneliness exposed to the open air.
Not really a furry but yes furrys REALLY can be creative. Take Neosvr for example, that game was made by a furry. Thats the main reason why furrys are so common in neos. Also to note that you do need $10 to attend furality. I actually plan to attend the full event (Furality Sylva) on June 2nd, and it's also my last day of school on the 2nd. Once I start making UA-cam videos I actually plan to cover a video on Furality Sylva. So great video Phia, keep up making great content.
Thank you so much for making this. It was really cool seeing someone go in blind and come out with a positive experience. I hope to be able to go to the next one and see you there ^^
Furries are real people and they deserve to express themselves. I have met and spoken with many furries, I've had close friends who are furries. There's nothing inherently wrong with it, they are lovely and talented people. It is highly important to recognize that the community is not its stereotypes, while also recognizing that many of these stereotypes are true for a significant portion of the community. This must be called out and the problem minimized, through education (of both the public and community) and other civil means. It makes me happy to see people happy -- If you are a furry, please, keep living your best life!
I love the fact that luma has opened you up to the community phia! I went to luma this year and aqua last year, even though it’s a paid event to participate in, personally I think it is undoubtedly the greatest experience vr chat has offered myself and I’m so happy to hear that you enjoyed yourself there aswell!
I love that, to experience and give a fair opinion about furries and the convention itself you fully immersed yourself into an avatar and gave everything a fair objective look. I’ve recently joined the furry fandom and seeing someone able to give it such a fair observation makes me a lot more comfortable to dive in even more, as I absolutely love it.
As a furry, This video warmed my heart. 💖 Thank you so much for being so kind and supportive to our fandom! I’m autistic and I have problems interacting with people, I used to be extremely shy when I talk to people, But thanks to the furry community, I’ve been able to express myself and communicate with people easier. I love the art, and the fursuits, and especially the welcoming and kind people. Thank you for this, and God bless. 🙏🏻
Some of my most fondest memories in VR come from the Furality conventions with lots of good friends and of course meeting new people at meetups or at the DJ events/parties. It's truly a safe space for furries to just be themselves and well worth the price tag of 10 bucks, especially when I know it supports future events. Fantastic take on Furality, thank you for taking the leap of giving the festival a try!
As someone in the furry community who used to be ashamed and hide the fact that i was a furry. Vrchat helped a ton at making me realise how not weird it is and how nice everyone is. Thank you for the great and very well informed video!
Ahhh Phia! Thank you so much for taking on the experience. Really happy to hear all your kind words. People love to hate thing they never tried / understand and this is proof. So glad to hear you had a great time, hope to catch you in future events!
The music that themes the cons can't be understated either, its insane. For those that do not know the planet of Luma has a theme, look it up its very moving.
Hey, I show up with some of my friends at 6:23! I'm the Mizutsune (right between the Papa-gen and Tiger Bee) if you're wondering! VRC name's Marlocke if y'all ever want to chat! c: ( Small edit: I'm glad you either weren't there to witness or at least didn't include the brief few minutes where I had a minor mental breakdown due to the stress of my first con attendance. )
the Furality Aqua "Lobby" world is publically available, and there are plans to make the Furality Sylva Lobby also available. both are quite incredible, I can assure you.
I admire you so much for jumping into the fandom with an open mind. A lot of folks are afraid to because of the huge stigma. Your review was very insightful and thoughtful! I’ll have to consider going to a Furality event if I get the chance.
This Luma was my first Furality, and I loved it! The community and fandom is filled with really incredible beans. I stumbled upon all of this VRChat stuff through a community last year, and it has been my gateway to feeling the most human I've ever felt.
This video is what i live for basically, as a furry seeing people slowly start to understand that the entire community isn't just a sex filled place really makes me feel like there's hope to make everyone not look around if they hear the word "furry or fursona" people need to treat furries like normal people and not like they are something "different" which we are, but in a good way! We express ourselves differently, have different hobbies, and sometimes even act or dress differently from non-furrs. But just cause we like using animals or aliens as our fursona doesn't make us "fatherless, orphans, zoophiles, pedophiles, disgraces, parasites, sluts, etc" and if you don't like something, just dont talk crap about it! Cause if you don't know the reason of why we are furries, just ask one! Of course you won't get the same thing everytime you ask someone because we are all different. Sometimes so different that you cant even compare the same two furries! So just please, be respectful to people's hobbies as weird as they can get sometimes (unless it is sexual/hateful) that's really all i have to say to non-furrs. Bye! ^^
I find furries awesome, they're so nice and their creative designs are awesome. There always will be negative aspects of every community, so I find it weird people focus on the negatives on furries a lot. I've been to a variety of communities and there's always positives and negatives of any community.
So glad you were able to come see the hype with Furality! I'm glad to see that you also enjoyed your time there and I hope you made some new friends along the way. Hope to see you for the bigger event in June, Furality Sylva :3
When I got into the furry fandom I got so much hate, death threats, slurs, r*ape threats, it was incredibly traumatic for me, but the funny thing is that every single one of those negative experiences were furry haters and people outside the community, the community defended me with their hearts even if they didn't know me, they comforted me and I felt safe, for the first time in my life I felt like I belonged and the people trying to "save me" from the furries just made it even clearer for me who the bad influence was, and if more people like you would just give it a chance I'm sure everyone would notice that as well, so thanks a lot for this ❤
they do a lot more than just design worlds! they make custom shaders for Avatars that come witht he badge, they have unity asset packs to personalize your avatar with, they've set out to design spaces at physical cons to interact with a low-latency video feed between VR and IRL to create a mixed reality experience. they made a website and custom API to funnel people between con instances efficiently... it's madness!
Admittedly, I was kinda judging the title and thought the video itself was gonna be bad. I gave the video a chance, and it wasn't as bad as I thought. Thank you for sharing your experience!
OMG! Thank you Phia, this was really nice to watch I appreciate it a lot! There is a lot I want to say bit I can barely think right now Thank you, for real!
I didn't expect to see myself in this video. It was my first time being at a furry con, but the experience was worth it. (Anime boy in the intro) Furrys are amazing ppl......It was great to meet all of you, have a great day.
I went to Furality last year, and went again to Furality Luma. It's how I ended up with my current friend group, and I love them all so much. Even if you're not a furry, it's an incredible experience, and I HIGHLY recommend going at least once, if only to experience it. I don't consider myself formally to be a furry, but I love the furality community so much
It's really great to see more videos like this showing furries in a more positive light, instead of the usual hate we get online. And imo you captured the Furality experience perfectly. Overall amazing video ^w^
I'm happy people can actually see how the furry fandom is because in general there is way much hate brought upon it from other culture's that are either very weird for people or just out right bad. When people like Phia explore and actually see and show how it is, it makes us all much happier as it gets out to people who thought this fandom was just horrible and bad which it really isn't. Thank you Phia for the video and big luck on your upcoming videos! ^^
Idk if it would be your thing, but i would LOVE to see you do a panel at Furality Silva. I am super gald you had such a great time at Furality Luma Fest
The furry community is absolutely massive in VRchat, we do so much. From party's to full raves and well Furality. And there is a LOT that goes into the back end of events like these. Full teams of people run these events. If you ever get chance to talk to any staff (when they aren't busy) I highly recommend it if you want to learn more.
From the moment I could comprehend movies as a child, I was bombarded with movies of talking animals like Bolt, Lion King, The Last Unicorn, Spirit, The Fox and the Hound, Winnie the Pooh, and so so so many more titles. My childhood was composed of the exact same thing as a lot of other people however I can say that furries cling to those characters all the more. We want to be them, we look up to them. We see human in these creatures depicted on screen. So it shouldn’t surprise anyone that we took that concept and created a fan base around it. We wanted our own characters on that screen. It’s usually got nothing to do with identity, or sexuality, it’s usually young people, and sometimes older just coming together to share that common interest. It is no different than football fans, cosplayers, DND groups, Disney kids, no different than car bros, gym bros, or the like It’s just a group to belong to. We just happened to get the brunt of it all. And sure; we have a lot of weird or socially inept people (myself included) I think that’s all the more reason we ought to have a fandom space. Because I know plenty of people who become so confident dawning their fursonas and talking to others. Even if that confidence is misguided into idk meowing or barking at people or wearing tails in public. They have gained confidence and I don’t think it’s anyone’s right to bully them down because it is just slightly odd We have plenty of members in the military, plenty of members working in pharmaceuticals, we have designers, constructors, and so so so much more. Those people are people who have things they do outside of it. Idk why it’s so hard for people to understand that You can feel free to discuss with me wether you agree or disagree with me- I won’t go ballistic. I feel this is the space where many non furries and furries can actually discuss opposing views without a whole ass war :)
This video is amazing, really interesting stuff! The whole furry stigma stemming from the squeeky wheel concept is such a good way of describing it, it counts for a lot of niche misunderstood groups.
Thanks so much Phia! We as the community were happy to have you come check out Furality! Furries are a diversity of unique creative individuals who come together in the form of creating unique concepts like you got to witness while at the festival. It's a form of art that shapes who we are as the furry community as a whole. I think of Furality as a conceptual art festival that allow furries or even non furries to show case there talents that they have developed over a period of time. It's a beautiful event to attend and would highly recommend anyone who loves all types of genre's of art to come see what Furality has to offer. We hope to see you and any new faces at Furality Sylva. Much

Thank you for putting a light to this, thank you for showing the world who and what we are. We do get a lot of hate online, and in VRChat espeicially. I can't really go into public instances without being called some very crude things.
Furality is my safe space to express myself around like-minded people. I think that's why so many people adore it
YO WHAT, RAEAL IS HERE???
Hey i know you, you fluffy little bean

Hi raeal👋
I've always thought the furry community looked like a fun group. It's not really my thing, but sometimes I feel more sad about that than anything else, they're so creative
You can totally hangout with furries without being one. As long as you’re respectful they won’t mind 🫶🏾

@milomoody891 Really depends, some places don't allow non-furries. But those are dying out as fast as furry hate groups.

I agree to this i recently went onto VRC not long after seeing this video and checked out some Furry avatars found one i liked then went into a world that was just a chill world for furries and hell was i wrong about them i ended up meeting the most kind and amazing people and made some genuin fun moments with them and for real im glad i took the time to just sit and listen sure the internet paints furries in a bad light but it does not mean we need to hate on them for expessing there creativity and individuality.

furrys get far too much hate, as an artist i think they’re incredible and i’d be more than happy to mess around as some fluffy mythical creature

This is actually so real, i have Never gatekeeped anything like i do the furry fandom

'' keeping the communities relatively clean of the worst of humanity. '' Ahahaha holy shit I cannot imagine being this disconnected from reality. I'm a massive furfg and I can tell you for a fact that the ''cringe'' stuff achieves the opposite. This comment is downright delusional and deceitful. The 'cringe' ''shield'' is exactly what attracts the worst of the worst into the community. The furry fandom's worst weakness is how open and ''tolerant'' they are. They could achieve alot of good with a bit of gatekeeping

While I was always kinda neutral on furries, playing VRChat before I even worked on it made me realize that furries are literally the same as anyone who makes an OC-- their OC just happens to be... well, furry.

And that's with many different people in general, sometimes you truly don't know what's on the other side unless you put yourself there
The creativity is what draws me. That's what I love about the community. The expression and imagination.
Furry here who was at Furality LUMA! I think the appeal of the furry community, at least localized in vr is that
1: furries are generally really cool people who make a lotta cool art and
2: You have literally infinite bounds for what virtual-physical form you can take, what's the point in being the same as you are in real life?
The appeal of the festival for me at least was that it's a furry con but without any risk, time investment, or significant monetary cost and 10 bucks was absolutely worth the experience I got. Absolutely gonna be at Sylva, preferably with some solid friends this time so I do not once again have my crushing loneliness exposed to the open air.

Not really a furry but yes furrys REALLY can be creative. Take Neosvr for example, that game was made by a furry. Thats the main reason why furrys are so common in neos.

VRC name's Marlocke if y'all ever want to chat! c:
( Small edit: I'm glad you either weren't there to witness or at least didn't include the brief few minutes where I had a minor mental breakdown due to the stress of my first con attendance. )
The furry convention worlds look so fucking well made what the hell
I’m not a furry but I kinda wanna go just to see those awesome looking worlds
the Furality Aqua "Lobby" world is publically available, and there are plans to make the Furality Sylva Lobby also available. both are quite incredible, I can assure you.
It’s great that you tried it out yourself! I’m genuinely thankful that you took time to experience it.
Bye! ^^
i always love your videos that you make.
its like you want to show the world everything vrc has too offer which is a lot.
Thank you for approaching this with kindness and an open mind! Really love the content 🖤
Glad you enjoyed your time in the Con, they are always a blast!
Hope you come to the next one's we'll be happy to see you!
When I got into the furry fandom I got so much hate, death threats, slurs, r*ape threats, it was incredibly traumatic for me, but the funny thing is that every single one of those negative experiences were furry haters and people outside the community, the community defended me with their hearts even if they didn't know me, they comforted me and I felt safe, for the first time in my life I felt like I belonged and the people trying to "save me" from the furries just made it even clearer for me who the bad influence was, and if more people like you would just give it a chance I'm sure everyone would notice that as well, so thanks a lot for this ❤
Haha once I saw this vod up I had to see it. Im so glad you had an awesome time at Furality! Hope to see you at the next one in June if you do come!!
Didn't realize Furality went and designed all its worlds ect, it actually looks amazing. Need to get my avatar set up for the next con
they do a lot more than just design worlds! they make custom shaders for Avatars that come witht he badge, they have unity asset packs to personalize your avatar with, they've set out to design spaces at physical cons to interact with a low-latency video feed between VR and IRL to create a mixed reality experience. they made a website and custom API to funnel people between con instances efficiently... it's madness!
Having a unique new experience every time really makes me feel like I missed out :O
9:22 made me instantly tear up. so damn wholesome.
ME TOO AAA
Same 😭🫣
LOVE YOUR VOICE WORK
It's a sick hoodie aswell
Furries always get hate so they now how worthless it is so they choose to love even more to make up for the void the hate leaves
Admittedly, I was kinda judging the title and thought the video itself was gonna be bad. I gave the video a chance, and it wasn't as bad as I thought.
Thank you for sharing your experience!
Thank you for giving it, and by it us, a chance. The con is truly awesome i hope you decide to either hang out with us, or attend Silvye in june.
OMG! Thank you Phia, this was really nice to watch
I appreciate it a lot!
There is a lot I want to say bit I can barely think right now
Thank you, for real!
thanks for checking us out as a group and glad you had so much fun hope you come back for june
I didn't expect to see myself in this video. It was my first time being at a furry con, but the experience was worth it. (Anime boy in the intro) Furrys are amazing ppl......It was great to meet all of you, have a great day.
im so exited for the full furality event! its gonna be my first time this year!
Was not expecting to show up in a Phia vid!! Glad you had a great experience and for viewing the positive aspects of the community!
It is no different than football fans, cosplayers, DND groups, Disney kids, no different than car bros, gym bros, or the like
It’s just a group to belong to.
They have gained confidence and I don’t think it’s anyone’s right to bully them down because it is just slightly odd
We have plenty of members in the military, plenty of members working in pharmaceuticals, we have designers, constructors, and so so so much more.
Those people are people who have things they do outside of it. Idk why it’s so hard for people to understand that
You can feel free to discuss with me wether you agree or disagree with me- I won’t go ballistic.
Yes!! I didn’t know how to explain the furry fandom before but this really just kinda really gets the job done with the wording lovely video!
Much
One of us one of us one of us.
Nah kidding, thank you for this report :3 it's always intresting to see the opinion of others to this fandom, not all of them are so inressting and open to the fandom like you are :)
Have a great what ever time it is for you now :)
