Yaddle didn't have much of a chance when Dooku made up his mind. Given her species and style you can tell she was raised in the order basically copying what had worked for Yoda. Dooku, in addition to being arguably the greatest duelist in the Order, had been Yoda's last padawan and knew his style well, reflected competently but imperfectly in Yaddle.
Not only that, like SIDIOUS was right there. Beating Dooku was long odds, but zero chance if Sidious felt the need to intervene Dis why you dont go alone to secret sith meetings
Yaddle's preferred fighting style actually seems to be Soresu rather than Ataru. Throughout most of the duel, she was fighting defensively and didn't leave the ground anywhere near as much as Yoda does. That's a great detail because it not only separates Yaddle from Yoda but also shows that although Ataru is the most efficient duelling style for such a small species, they can wield any lightsaber combat form effectively. Had she lived, Yaddle might have even surpassed Yoda in later life. She was better at conserving her energy for longer duels while Yoda was more focussed on ending a fight as quickly as possible, even if he exhausted himself in the process.
@@tomnorton4277true. The fight looked quite even when she was playing defense. But it’s when she went offense that dooku got the upper hand and forced her back to the door and tried to crush her with it

George Lucas has said that, for all intents and purposes, Palpatine IS the Devil. Heck, Ian McDiarmid has said he's arguably even worse because at least Satan became evil over time. Palpatine was just born like that.
no wonder Palpatine think so highly of himself. He thrives off of causing Mass confusion and turning the most powerful Jedi to the darkside. To be right under the nose of the most intuitive intellectual beings known as Jedi and yet they can't see him. I'd be high on myself too.
Remember that the Sith have been extinct for 1000 years so not even Yoda knew what a Sith looked like. The Jedi didn't know what to expect. They've only learned about the Sith through text and stories but they were more familiar with fighting Pirates, Crime lords and other illegal organizations.
0:57 "It is you who has run Dooku, into the arms of Evil." Yaddle's got a point. Dooky deserved to be fed up with Jedi Council but that's not a reason to join their mortal enemies, who want nothing more than total opposite of everything Jedi stood for with full knowledge of what they were capable of. In the end, much like later Anakin, Dooku chose to believe in the sweet lies of Sith and their empires instead of bitter truths of Jedi and the Republic.
You're right but Dooku had his reasons too. Jedi ignored his warnings and were too involved in politics where they should be keepers of peace and help people. They were against their own principles that created Jedi Order. Dooku simply became pissed of that and then came Sidious who listened to him and agreed with his opinion. So yeah, no wonder that he decided to join somebody who agreed with him after years of being ignored. Sure I'm not saying that Dooku did right thing but he had his reasons too.
@@vvgr409 Jedi just simply thought that their job is handling thugs and terrorists (who use violence for their means). The corruption in the Republic is in their mind something that should be dealt with by Senate and its law, not them. If the Senate is not willing to fix their problems with corruption... well that's their problem, and Jedi will not lead the Republic by the hand through every single problem and teach it what to do and not to do.
I never saw this coming, that's for sure. Yaddle was a great Jedi Master and one who was not corrupt and arrogant. But Dooku knew it was too late to turn back. Qui-Gon's death was the final straw and there was no going back to the Jedi who did nothing to help his beloved Apprentice.
In the revenge of the sith novel darth sidious is refered to as the shadow by darth vader, that accusation fits well when sidious was blinded by the sun light when yattle forced the door open
I love how when Yaddle opens the door off her, Palpatine tries to hide himself from the light. Obviously he’s not weakened by literal sun but I think it’s a nice reference to how Christopher Lee used to play Dracula. Maybe I’m overthinking it but I just thought of that.
Dooku may not have been Sidious perfect choice apprentice but in the time it took place he was certainly the most ideal. A jedi far better than most in the order, considerably the best duelist in the galaxy and well adept in the force. Makes me wonder if the clone wars would've been possible without him as the lead puppet. Like sure it would still go on but for how long? Long enough for Sidious to turn Anakin? To take more power in the senate? I always underappreciated Dooku but the Clone Wars and Tales of the Jedi really turned that around for me.
Yes, Dooku was already old, i think he left the Order in his late sixties, and it would still be some time before he actually became a Sith. When he dies, he was pushing eighty plus easy.
So was the actor I think… don’t quote me on that… Regardless props to both Dooku and Christopher Lee for managing to perform such masterful moves at their age
Considering Maul was supposed to be the one to take Dooku's and later Vader's role in Palpatines grand plan, it really is quite the stroke of luck that Sidious was able to find the perfect replacements to keep everything moving after his loss.
You really think they would of believed her? Besides, they already left for Naboo at this point. By the time she gets there, Dooku would be long gone and Sidious would come up with a plan to make her look like a liar.
She was dead the minute Palpatine decided to come along to watch Dooku. He was there to make sure things didn't get out of control, aka, Yaddle escaping.
This goes to show how powerful Yoda was himself. Dooku was able to beat and kill Yade here while barely tapping the Dark Side. Yoda was beating and would have beaten a fully Dark Side empowered Count Dooku. Were it not for that last trick he pulled in order to run
To be fair to Dooku, he never fully succumbed tapped into the dark side of the force. Notice how his irises never turned yellow, which is what happens when a force user submits themselves completely over to the dark side
Insane to think how much more powerful Dooku got from TPM to AOTC as a Sith Lord. TOTJ demonstrated that he was already well beyond the average Jedi Master. I know, for 20 years we have had books and comics that told us how Master Dooku was the Golden Boy of the Order; second only to Yoda, the most powerful Jedi of his era, a Padawan so powerful and gifted that Yoda broke Jedi convention and his own personal code to take him on as his apprentice while Grand Master and even groomed to replace Yoda. In Dark Rendezvous Yoda describes him as their wisest student and strongest warrior. We know that only Yoda was more skilled in dueling, and that Mace was considered the toppest tier in swordsmanship because he earned a draw against Dooku in sparring *once.* But to see Dooku demonstrate his deflection abilities as a work of art (the traditional flaw of Makashi people point out is its weakness against blasters!), his IQ and BBIQ in deducing so quickly that the guards murdered Master Katri, dropping the tree on the droids to cut the fight short, or swatting away a shuttle as if it were nothing, we finally see how powerful and skilled he was as Master Dooku. Master Yaddle was no slouch. In Legends she was incredibly powerful in the Force, which is also demonstrated in TOTJ. And that while she wasn't on Yoda's level as a duelist, her immense strength and almost peerless knowledge of the Force made her an extremely difficult opponent. Defeating her with little difficulty is a big feather in Dooku's dueling cap.
It seriously is, not only that but remember the time Dooku was fighting against both Obi-Wan AND Anakin double-teaming him during the incident with pikes? He kept Anakin on the defensive (which is not his style as he’s usually on the offensive) and allowed Obi-Wan freedom to attack, which ultimately made him expose some weak points in his form (since Obi-Wan’s style is best suited for counterattacks) it’s honestly amazing how Dooku meticulously think beforehand what the best strategy is to defeat his opponents before actually making the first move.
@@alirezaomrani7650 Absolutely, and in that duel, which is only about 6 months from ROTS, Dooku was dominating them to the point he could have killed Obi-Wan as if it were nothing, but kneed him instead and threw him. The Jedi had no answer for his speed and agility either. And people say Dooku is slow....
@@crownprincesebastianjohano7069 this may be a hot take, but in my opinion, if we are talking purely about talent and skill with the lightsaber, Dooku is superior to both Mace Windu and Darth Sidious, on a par with Anakin Skywalker (in ROTS and towards the end of the clone wars in general), and slightly inferior to Yoda. This does not mean that he must necessarily win/lose with whoever I consider more skilled/less skilled, because there are many other variables including knowledge and power in the force, as well as the psychophysical state of the person dueling. But if we're talking purely about skill with the blade...
What I love about this is that we can clearly see the corrupting effect the dark side has on Dooku. Many people forget that he is evil because his intentions were good, but here we see that even in the beginning, when he has just had a small taste if the dark side, it twists him enough to make him not only kill his friend but also do it while making some snarky comment, showing that he kinda enjoys it.
Nah, he didn’t enjoy it at all. He simply believed Yaddle deserved a painless death. That’s all there is to it. You can see the sadness in his face the entire way throughout the fight.
So he is evil, because his intentions were good...but he is evil, because he is evil. Dude, make that make sense, for real. You home-grown philosophers never cease to amuse me.
@@anton.chigrinetc.96 It's not homegrown philosophy, It's Star Wars lore. But to break it down for you: His good intentions made him do enough evil things to eventually turn him evil. To be specific, his wish to end the corruption in the republic (good intentions) made him strike a deal with a Sith Lord, kill, betray and use the dark side (evil actions). The Dark side, however tends to corrupt people. It corrupted Dooku enough that by the time of the Clone Wars his good intentions were basically gine and he was just pure evil. Something which can be easily seen in the Clone Wars show. It were, however, his originally good intentions that set him on this path.
Sidious may have had the edge in terms of Force ability but with Yaddle being a small target and Dooku being the best swordsman in the Order apart from Yoda and Mace Windu, they would have had a very good chance. Unlike when Mace brought 3 other Jedi to a cramped office where they would only get in each others way, fighting Sidious in a hanger where there's plenty of room to move without blocking each other is the ideal position for Dooku and Yaddle to be in.
There's a chance they could win, but I think they would have lost. Of course, the chance is quite high that either Yaddle or Dooku could escape and report back to the Council. Sidious doesn't have the power to defeat either of them immediately.
Why does everyone forget that Palpatine has a whole ship of host bodies, and failing that, he'd just possess either Dooku or Yaddle (preferably Yaddle because she's younger, relatively). Killing Palpatine isn't enough.
0:14 Yaddle's expression is in shock. She still can't believe what's going on. Confused on what's happening and denying the fact that Dooku is attacking her and becoming a villain. But underneath, she accepted her fate anyway.
Naw he wouldn’t have been exposed because he wasn’t going to let her walk out of there. If Dooku failed then Sidious would have just killed her himself.
This would've been Dooku's last chance to redeem himself. He felt truly betrayed by the Jedi because of their close association with the republic, they were like the republic's puppets. Dooku of course does not want to be anyone's pawn and yet is happy to serve the Sith Master without knowing his true goals.
That’s the tragedy of it, he meant well the entire time. Sidious was the only person who listened to him and his concerns. Ultimately, he was right the entire time, the Jedi had not only failed him, but qui gon too. Their refusal to acknowledge the possibility of the sith still being around is part of the reason he lost his apprentice. It’s a truly heartbreaking story
@@Osindileyo It would be nice if we could see Dooku return as a Force spirit. Unfortunately he did not get that training, nor did he get a chance to return to the light side prior to his death, but perhaps some powerful Jedi could grant what's left of his force energy the ability to express his voice and concerns in the form of a ball of light.

That's just abiding to made-up Survivor rules. No wonder why their Order fell because they followed too much dogmatic BS rather than take off the gloves for once and get shit done quick & easy. This is why Anakin & Ahsoka pmuch carried the Republic in the war lol, cuz they didn't adhere to rules that made their kind weak.
Imagine if Yoda said screw it & went for Dooku's legs in AotC? Clone War prob either woulda never started or would've been over way sooner than 3 years. Or just, if Yaddle went for Dooku's legs here lol. Both scenarios put a massive dampener on Palpatine's scheme and it woulda been gg.

That back peddling gives the opponent the advantage because now they have forward momentum and more freedom to be aggressive.

She did all that just to exhaust herself and be sliced in half.
Beating Dooku was long odds, but zero chance if Sidious felt the need to intervene
Dis why you dont go alone to secret sith meetings

That shows Dooku was right in his opinion of Jedi Order.
Remember that the Sith have been extinct for 1000 years so not even Yoda knew what a Sith looked like. The Jedi didn't know what to expect. They've only learned about the Sith through text and stories but they were more familiar with fighting Pirates, Crime lords and other illegal organizations.
0:57 "It is you who has run Dooku, into the arms of Evil."
Yaddle's got a point.
Well said
You're right but Dooku had his reasons too.
Jedi? Truth? Come on
Had jedi council not been incompetent for the last like thousand years, probably non of this would have happened.

@@vladskiobishortly after Phantom Menace but yeah practically the same
Dooku may not have been Sidious perfect choice apprentice but in the time it took place he was certainly the most ideal.
He was too old, older than Sidious is. That's why he needed Anakin instead
Yes, Dooku was already old, i think he left the Order in his late sixties, and it would still be some time before he actually became a Sith. When he dies, he was pushing eighty plus easy.
So was the actor I think… don’t quote me on that…
Regardless props to both Dooku and Christopher Lee for managing to perform such masterful moves at their age
Considering Maul was supposed to be the one to take Dooku's and later Vader's role in Palpatines grand plan, it really is quite the stroke of luck that Sidious was able to find the perfect replacements to keep everything moving after his loss.
The ending scene was cool.... But Yaddle really should have used the opportunity to run back and tell the jedi council everything she saw lol

@@calebstevens9446They do but only in very few instances. Dooku believed the dark side could be mastered without getting completely consumed by it.
I mean it’s Yoda. Even Palpatine would not be foolish enough to challenge him blindly.
Nah Fam! They’re not watching the same show as me! Get those losers outta here!! 😂
@@andreademarchi7495 Actually in terms of raw talent, Dooku is superior to Yoda. Yoda's only advantage is that he has nearly 9 centuries of practice.

"Tell me, friend: When did Count Dooku the wise abandon reason for madness?"
-Yaddle, probably
What's even worse is that I am sure that Dooku and Yaddle could have defeated Sidious together. They could have ended it all before it began.
It's possible but I believe sidious would have ran away from the fight
There's a chance they could win, but I think they would have lost. Of course, the chance is quite high that either Yaddle or Dooku could escape and report back to the Council. Sidious doesn't have the power to defeat either of them immediately.
Why does everyone forget that Palpatine has a whole ship of host bodies, and failing that, he'd just possess either Dooku or Yaddle (preferably Yaddle because she's younger, relatively). Killing Palpatine isn't enough.
No way. Just because she is the same species as Yoda doesn't mean she is his equivalent.

That’s the tragedy of it, he meant well the entire time. Sidious was the only person who listened to him and his concerns.
