      ....or even the President! I heard just days ago, the President visited Utah. FBI were warned of a 75 year old man with an arsenal of weapons claiming on social media he wanted to take him out when there in Utah. FBI crews swarmed him and shot the guy dead at the first sign of resistance. Backtrack a few years to the Florida school shooting where the gunman threatened for 2 years to shoot up the school. Nobody did a single thing about it and students died!!! If our ivory tower government officials get that much protection then so should our kids!

    My 14 year old son starts his Freshman year on the 21st. I have to say that his previous elementary and middle school had excellent security. They would not let you in the building until you proved your identity and made sure you were on the emergency list or a parent or guardian. Even then you were only able to enter a waiting room off to the side of the office. I really appreciated that. His high school has the same setup, plus metal detectors which are new this year. All schools in the county also have security officers and the middle and High Schools have additional security guards plus 1 or more police officers stationed there depending on the school size which I appreciate. Growing up we didn’t have all that security. I had never even heard of a school shooting until Columbine in 1999, and that occurred the year after I graduated.

      Something we as Americans need to recognize is the misuse of labels and concepts. The anti gun/ pro government types use the prison analogy when referring to hardening schools, but nothing could be more untrue. Prisons are made to keep people in, whereas castles were made to keep people out. Whenever you hear someone try and insist that schools shouldn't be like prisons, tell them they're right. Schools should be like castles, where people and valuables were protected from intruders and attackers. Prisons don't do that, and we're not going to let whiners set the narrative.

    • @rosc2022
      @rosc2022 Рік тому +1

      The thing is, you don't HAVE to make it like a prison. And the way you do that is to treat security like it's no big deal. It should just be "the way we do it here." No big deal that "we have all these measures in place to protect you (students)". It's just two sets of doors. Any drills that are done are explained to the students as, "We do this so that you will be more in control just in case anything happens. Things happen; weather happens; human things happen; we deal with it. We want you to know what to do so you don't have to worry." Kids can be taught to freak out. Think: bring in every school counselor in the district to provide "emotional support" when something happens. If the kids weren't upset by the event, they sure as hell will be when there are distraught (and they always seem to be distraught) adults running around trying to "provide reassurance". Kids always have and always will take their cues from adults. Sadly, too many neurotic adults are dumping their neurotic shit on kids in the name of "helping."
      This video is excellent. If school admins don't take charge, then anyone who walks through the door with the right equipment is in charge. Bad juju.

Most of these attackers are crazed lone gunmen, not crack paramilitary attack squads.A properly designed campus is defensive In nature. It frustrates the actions of an attacker based upon its design. Controlled access points and a man trap at the main entrance keeps attackers out. Every classroom door must be a hardened steel door that locks from the inside. I used to work in a school. Once the low gate passed, it takes only 15 seconds to reach a classroom. The openfield schoolyard is right behind the gate. In order to get inside the school when the gate is closed, everybody has to go to the janitor's office to register and give information and reasons. The office is further than the closest classroom...

      Evil has no age limits. By targeting the children "they" believe that common sense people are dumb enough to believe that gun has a mind of it's own.
