Identify Themes and Gaps in Literature 1. Find out connections and relationships between the sources you’ve read 2. Trends and patterns (in terms of theories, methods and results) 3. Themes (spot concepts and questions repeat again and again across literatures) 4. Debates, conflicts and contradictions (similar methods but different results? Against general consensus?) 5. Pivotal publications (influential studies, e.g. Gravity) 6. Gaps (what have not been done?)
Our study has quite the same topic (about social media) with the given example, so it was really helpful and I got a lot of ideas for our study! Thanks!
I thought I’ve already watched everything I need to know about RRL, I’m wrong. Thank God for this channel. Short and concise explanation. I hope to learn more about Thematic RRL. Waiting for the new upload. ❤️
Use a boolean method search and find good relevant papers and then read it to find a trend or gap it can even inform ur research title or ur aims and objective of ur project.. Good job scribbr hope to see more quality content.. Cheers
Thank you for such a clear explanation, it's really helped me what content should I take note of when reading the articles and organize my LR outline before writing. Im really struggling to write and focuses when writing LR before watching this video.
Ugh how to write a literature review? Add terms related to my research. Well why can't I find ANY literature reviews on similar topics or an example of a theme literature review with collective effervescence and grief. If a literature review is supposed to let you know what has been said why can't* find anything
Thank you, very helpful for students, I will show it to them. I find they also like to see examples and therefore I have now uploaded the examples I created for them, with my commentary and feedback, it is then easy to see what makes a good literature review - Professor Egan
Thank you so much for the video, my research topic is similar but, also tackles the rise in cosmetic procedures due to social media influences. Great work Jessica and the Scribbr team!
Hi! We're definitely working on more videos 😎 meanwhile, you should check out our articles on conceptual and theoretical framework first! www.scribbr.com/dissertation/theoretical-framework/ & www.scribbr.com/dissertation/conceptual-framework/
hey quick dumb question : i have to submit a 2 pages preliminary literature review in 5 days , and i have a lot of resources , is it okay if i only base the comparison on just the abstracts, since its nit the actual thesis that im gonna submit ? like is it safe , or itll be obvious that i only read the abstracts .. lol?
Thank you for this such wonderful explanation, I benefited a lot from all your videos. I want also to notify you, this is step 3 NOT 2 as steps explained in the 2nd video :)
Hey, this might be a silly question. But do you normally have one theme and then you narrow it down into different sections? Is there a step by step guide I can follow. Do you normally brainstorm your idea first then look for examples and arguments what is the general rule? And thank you in advance!
Anytime I'm watching your videos, I get distracted with your smiles and body language. Can you make a video on "How not to be distracted by you when watching your videos"
Jessica is so sweat, I was like how come an Asian speak English so well?! Your videos are gave me the best direction for my literature review that has been troubling me for some time now. Thanks!

I think it would be hard to show the depth of your understanding and more critical analysis through only the abstract
Thank you for this such wonderful explanation, I benefited a lot from all your videos.
I want also to notify you, this is step 3 NOT 2 as steps explained in the 2nd video :)
Haha! You got me 😉 the two steps are combined into one video and explained together! I'm glad they helped you 😎
