Makes sense to me man. I get the idea behind having the loud noise to alert and startle.. but I think maybe some people underestimate how loud a gun is (especially 223/556) is, inside of a house. I know that with hand loads, suppressed 300blk can be very quiet, but unless you live in a mansion, the bad guy(s) are going to hear it- even with subsonic suppressed. The bad guy buddies would probably hear the suppressed blast- and then a loud thump from their friend hitting the floor, and I'd be willing to bet that they are aware of what's going down. People also will say that a louder gun blast may alert neighbors to call the police- which is good thinking, but in some jurisdictions, you *may* have a better time on the legal side of things if you are the first to call 911. I'd run suppressed sub- or even super sonic depending on the projectile performance and to prevent over-penetration, due to where I live and my personal preference. I'd like to keep what's left of my hearing intact enough to hopefully hear whether or not there will be multiple victims or if the other intruders are smart enough to haul ass out of dodge 😎. Lots of different things you can do to prevent and deter home invasions from happening, have a plan.
Yup my wife wants a rifle for when I'm gone. I said if you shoot my hunting rifle indoors your ears are gone. So building her a 300 blk suppressed subsonic. Close range and bodies are only designed for the holes it came with 😄.
No suppressor H1, Suppressed I think I have an H2. Honestly, if you’re able just do the adjustable gas block. Every rifle is different. If you’ve already got the buffers though, go for it
TBH I think the WPSociety was the first guy to put out that idiotic "I want to scare the bad guys and alert my neighbors so no quiet home defense gun" crap, and then a bunch of lemmings agreed with him just because. Some guntubers have actually changed their mind about the whole subject. Anyway, sorry to rant there, but I agree with you. For people who do NOT, I always tell them to go to an INDOOR range and shoot a few rounds quickly with their unsuppressed .223 AR while NOT wearing their $5,000,000 fancy ear pro to get the full experience.
I think you are right. I have A LOT of respect for John, I just happen to disagree with that particular opinion. The dude is legit so I value his opinion regardless and consider him one of the best sources of information. However, when it comes to home defense, I want every advantage I can get which means being able to hear, communicate, and throw a lot of lead real fast.
imo is simple, i dont want to blow my eardrums if i have to shoot inside a closed room half sleep where there might be children sleeping or family members and what not.
H1 buffer and as far as I can tell the gas is tuned perfectly for a can and S&B 220gr subs. It’s never short stroked or been anywhere close to over gassed obviously. It shoots fast and flat, better than any of my other rifles. Just for comparison sake, this is an 8” barrel, with my 10.5” 5.56 it is over gassed enough that I’m almost getting bolt bounce so I run an H2 in that with a flat spring.
@@yota_blaster5030 ok, nice. I have similar(9” 300blk) was not having bolt lock to the rear with H2 buffer when emptied, maybe it has a different effect now that I have a can (which I haven’t shot yet) but I also have an H3 just in case. Mostly running subs.
@@chewminem2044 You are under gassed so it’s short stroking and not going back far enough to catch. Too heavy of a buffer especially without the can. H3 would probably be too heavy even with the can. Start with the can on and an H1 buffer. I would bet you get a good 3-4 o’clock ejection pattern. If it’s ejecting forward, move to the H2. I sincerely doubt you’ll need an H3. You’d have to be running supers with a can.
I have a Ar pistol for my home defense like I’ve heard if your ears are ringing if the cops show up and they don’t know who is the bad guy and you come out with a gun and you can’t hear what they are saying about put your gun down they will blast you
I would run 110gr barnes tac-tx or Hornady v-max personally over subsonic loads for HD. The can will make it not kill your ears and the over 1000 ft-lbs of muzzle energy will take care of business quickly.
Subs tumble and create a superior wound channel, supers punch a hole even with hollow points. I’ve done testing with both. Go check out Military Arms Channel’s breakdown of the 2.
@@yota_blaster5030 I'm not saying that subsonic can't get the task done adequately , I just worry about Over penetration. I have watched MAC on most everything 300blk. Honestly, my take away from him as well as others is that a supersonic like the barnes and hornady transfer way more energy into the target, as they inflict rifle like damage. My own recent test with clear ballistics products provided that the 110gr Hornady dumped 1126 ft-lbs into a 16" in the block, resting slightly at about 15". Watching the MAC rattler vs BCM the 220gr punched a tiny entry and exit into melon without tumbling with the longer barrel, while the rattler had significant tumbling. Watching Mrgunsngear everything 300blk he also recommends staying with lighter supersonic rounds. Now I will have to go try the 220gr in my gel the next time I go out, but I hypothesis that much like the 147gr out of my scorpion Evo pistol the round will go through all 32" of gel...Gives me something to try next time out. My friend will be editing the video we took of our testing and I will link it once completed.
Would love to put a can on my tools but the great sucky state of Illinois doesn’t allow it
There are sanctuary counties/cities 😉👍🏼

1 minute into the vid and I'm thinking "pull the gun out of the fridge. DO IT!" 😄
We not going to talk about the rife in the fridge? 🤣
I was going through a cold weather testing and orange juice phase.
My 10.5 blackout upper will be home in a couple days
What if you only have AR rifles and not pistols?
What buffer weight for 10.5 300blk

Nice build. If you get the money or want to try put the geisselle ssa-e trigger in it and you will be amazed
Thanks! Definitely on the wishlist

Great video. I’m almost done building my suppressed 300 pistol for home defense. No light for yours?
I think I had taken it off for some reason but I have an inforce that sits at 12 o’clock
Yota is back!
Nice topic man! I gotta ask, what buffer tube weight ammo brand you use for home defense?

What should I use if I live in a communist state and can’t use a suppressor?
