For all wondering, the songs on this album are called One, Two, Three and Four then the ones on Here Hear II are called Five, Six, Seven and Eight and the third Here Hear are called Nine, Ten, Eleven and Twelve.
FOUR (lyrics) There was once a great kingdom, and its great king had a beautiful daughter who passed her days in solitude, weaving garments for the pleasure of her father. One day, while she was sitting beside the great river, peering across, she saw a handsome young shepherd boy leading his flock through the pasture. Immediately, she fell in love. Thereafter, she became terribly disheartened, knowing that, due to her duties at the loom, she would be unable to pursue that love. The king, aware that by his bidding such despair had befallen her, felt great remorse, and arranged for her to marry the shepherd. There marriage was one of happiness from the start, and everyday thereafter they grew happier and happier. However, in immersing herself in her marriage, the princess had neglected her weaving and the great king became angry. Unable to reconcile with that anger, the great king banished each of the lovers to opposite sides of the great river, allowing them only to meet once each year: on the seventh day of the seventh month. On that day, a ferryman would carry the shepherd boy across the river to the princess, and return him home at day's end. However, if the princess has not fulfilled her obligations at the loom the king floods the river, and the two can not meet.
I love how much la dispute has changed, if you look at their first ep vs rooms of the house, it's SO much different, definitely not in a bad way, it's just hard not to be in a good mood listening to this
+MirumExMachina I get what you mean however only discovering La dispute through their newer albums coming back to this is rather refreshing. I love how far they've come.
THREE (lyrics) It was many and many a year ago, In a kingdom by the sea, That a maiden there lived whom you may know By the name of Annabel Lee; And this maiden she lived with no other thought Than to love and be loved by me. I was a child and she was a child, In that princedom by the sea. But we loved with a love that was more than just love, With a love even the seraphs up in heaven covet. And that was the reason that long ago, In that princedom asleep by the sea, That a wind shut her body in a sepulcher, Buried in the sea, That bore my sweet darling away from me. Oh, the angels they envied us-envied our love. Yes, that was the reason the wind came out, Stirred the air and made the waves shake madly, Killing my Annabel Lee. Oh my Annabel Lee. Our love it was strong. So strong That neither the angels up in heaven Nor the demons in the sea, Can ever dissever my soul from the Soul of my Annabel Lee.
I think I'll get their flower tattooed on me because even if one day I no longer listen to them or like them, they opened my eyes and changed my life and that will be with me forever
Crazy to think that these guys were practically all I listened to back in the day. I haven't listened in a while, but it still gives me a warm feeling to hear these songs, these poems, these utter works of art.
TWO (lyrics) Somewhere I have never travelled, gladly beyond any experience, your eyes have their silence: in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me, or which I cannot touch because they are too near your slightest look easily will unclose me though I have closed myself as fingers, you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens (touching skilfully, mysteriously) her first rose or if your wish be to close me, I and my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly, as when the heart of this flower imagines the snow carefully everywhere descending; nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals the power of your intense fragility: whose texture compels me with the colour of its countries, rendering death and forever with each breathing (I do not know what it is about you that closes and opens; only something in me understands the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses) nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands
FOUR (lyrics cont.) allowing them only to meet once each year: on the seventh day of the seventh month. On that day, a ferryman would carry the shepherd boy across the river to the princess, and return him home at day's end. However, if the princess has not fulfilled her obligations at the loom the king floods the river, and the two can not meet.
This is why La Dispute will always be my number one favourite band, every album they make is just pure emotion, each style they take on suits them to a t.
I love how la dispute continues to tell more of the story through other songs repenting certent things and giving us cluse. Thiwr just such a perfect band
I got their flower tatooed on me, along with my favorite quote from them, even if I don't listen to them one day, I'll forever love the message from it and as you said, how they opened my eyes in my younger years :)
Reading down the comments I have yet to find any that start up a conversation on were we can all share similarities on how we all got brought up to this AMAZING band.
I saw the flower spray painted on the underside of a bridge one day and thought it was gorgeous. I took a picture and wanted to know if it meant anything, I asked everyone I knew but nobody seemed to know what it was. I thought it was nothing but then I saw a flyer for a show they performed in the previous months and it had the flower on it. I've been a fan of this band since
in 6th grade, I came across The Last Lost Continent and that song was just 12 minutes of pain for me and i connected with them real fast, and after 4 years I saw them live and it was incredible
A friend of mine said: "La Dispute is coming to Belgium!". I was like: "yeah yeah i don't know them that good" (lol not at all). And that's when i found this amazing one of a kind band.
LDinmyheart Forever I found them 5 years ago, during my freshman year of highschool, through a guy doing an amazing cover of New Storms For Older Lovers and was immediately hooked. The band has prevented me from suicide twice by releasing Wildlife and Rooms Of The House within days of the thoughts becoming serious. They are and always will be my favorite band
it's really lovely to listen to lyrics which are reinforced by the music, where the words feel like they matter; not just filling a void between one instrumental and the next (thanks for uploading full albums).
So fill your hearts with what's important, and be done with all the rest. Just one of my favourite quotes :) Their music helped me thru some of the hardest moments in my life. I thank them a f*cking lot!
there is so much foreshadowing to their bottom of the river album oh my god. I had no idea fall down never get back up again was inspired by Edgar Allen Poe's poem Annabelle Lee.
I know that 1 sets up The Last Lost Continent. 2 Nobody Not Even the Rain. 4 Said the King to the River. But I can't decide if 3 is Fall Down and Never Get Again or Last Bloody Knuckles.
The King and the River stand for an alogory of God and our duty to balance need and desire within our existence. However the carnal sin has seperated us from heaven and thus we only find at times of balance we can cross the river. Or is that reading too much into it? I've been lost in judeo-buddist philosophy.
there are special places for people in heaven that upload full albums on youtube.
there are special places for people in hell that upload full albums with 30-60 seconds of pause between every song on youtube.
***** truth.
Please understand how perfect that was.
Marina Solano Well, I guess i'm going to heaven...
For all wondering, the songs on this album are called One, Two, Three and Four then the ones on Here Hear II are called Five, Six, Seven and Eight and the third Here Hear are called Nine, Ten, Eleven and Twelve.
I love how Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair comes directly from this basically. So sweet.

Ayy tigers jaw!!
Nobody, not even the rain, HAS SUCH SMALL HANDS

With the knowledge that Bottom of the River has a song called The Last Lost Continent, hearing ONE speak of the first lost continent is intriguing
This is why La Dispute will always be my number one favourite band, every album they make is just pure emotion, each style they take on suits them to a t.
I love how la dispute continues to tell more of the story through other songs repenting certent things and giving us cluse. Thiwr just such a perfect band
the fact that most of these are some of favourite pieces of literature, and la dispute are my favourite band means we were made for eachother.
I got their flower tatooed on me, along with my favorite quote from them, even if I don't listen to them one day, I'll forever love the message from it and as you said, how they opened my eyes in my younger years :)
La dispute is always there, good and bad
00:00 - One
02:19 - Two
04:46 - Three
07:15 - Four
the time between songs is so long

When it comes to an amazing band everyone can share things because everyone can relate on a deep level
I got lightheaded listening to this, I don't know why but it's a wonderful feeling.
To this day I still wish this was on Apple music or Spotify or something
it's really lovely to listen to lyrics which are reinforced by the music, where the words feel like they matter;
not just filling a void between one instrumental and the next (thanks for uploading full albums).
How come Vol 1 & Vol 2 aren’t on Spotify
0:00 - One
2:19 - Two
4:46 - Three

Thank you so much!
So fill your hearts with what's important, and be done with all the rest.
Just one of my favourite quotes :) Their music helped me thru some of the hardest moments in my life. I thank them a f*cking lot!
These tracks make sense of the whole Bottom of the River album, which is why they are so brilliant.
this is the most beautiful thing i've ever heard.
awe they're just so amazing
Holyshiy Thankyou for putting this up argh!
I love this. Wildlife was amazing but this is pure emotion.
so in love with this
there is so much foreshadowing to their bottom of the river album oh my god. I had no idea fall down never get back up again was inspired by Edgar Allen Poe's poem Annabelle Lee.
some ideas for future albums: "they're, there", "sea, see", "death, deaf", "damn, them"
you might like "their / they're / there" one of Mike Kinsella's bands
Mike Kinsella is everywhere
Death and deaf definitely don't sound the same
@@Syk0tc you are wrong definitely
Annabel Lee is a poem by Edger Allen Poe, the others are also poems by other people
fantastic. i love these albums. another few great bands similar to this is Listener and Adam Gnade. The Aeolists as well
wildlife was the name of their newer album. which was amazing.
The tracks are simply called one, two three, and four.
great album!
Check La Dispute's bandcamp page.
I think its fall down because he says the angels, they envy us
Ah shit, I'M IN LOVE!
the 3 is Fall Down and never get back up again because jordan is telling the same history

Why is La Dispute so awesome?
still life with mockingbird
I know that 1 sets up The Last Lost Continent. 2 Nobody Not Even the Rain. 4 Said the King to the River. But I can't decide if 3 is Fall Down and Never Get Again or Last Bloody Knuckles.
so fucking good.
The King and the River stand for an alogory of God and our duty to balance need and desire within our existence. However the carnal sin has seperated us from heaven and thus we only find at times of balance we can cross the river.
Or is that reading too much into it? I've been lost in judeo-buddist philosophy.
Realizing that the second song has two titles of newer songs in the lyrics. (:
