The channels on a sound desk are where you plug all of your mics/inputs into, the stereo out is the main output of the desk (it's in stereo, hence the name)
You made a mistake about the Insert I/O being only input - it's both. It's a 1/4" TRS jack. Tip is output, Ring is input, Shield is ground (if I'm not mistaken). Most of these outputs are pre-fader and return where they came out. This lets you directly monitor one single channel (by pushing the jack half way in), or tracks/channels can have their own effects loops. And remember everyone, with a tiny bit of knowledge about soldering, you can do amazing effects loops with inserts. Say your guitar is on channel 1. You make a patch panel with two TRS jacks, and wire them to just loop through. Then on that panel, have a TRS jack that splits out into a SEND and RECEIVE TS (mono) jack, and just by plugging and unplugging that main jack you can switch effects boxes. If that's too much work, you can even wire up relays to do the input switching for you, and at that point you could control that with Arduino or ESP8266s or which can then become a server for a cell phone or tablet app and you can switch effects at the tap of a screen. None of that is actually complicated, it just takes more time than someone wants to spend usually xP
Thanks for the review. I don't appreciate Behringer's deceptive naming scheme. 24 should denote the number of channel inputs and not a count of every input jack. I have the Mackie 1202 which has 4x mono, 4x stereo inputs, and 4x aux inputs, and Mackie correctly named it 1202 not 1602. I want to know how many instruments I can plug in without reading specs or zooming in on jpegs.
Love this review. As an old guy, I am used to misleading descriptors, but you deserve a commission, because I bought this mixer on the strength of your video/s.
I’ve got one of these coming very soon. Your videos here are a critical resource already!! I plan on using this as kind of an instrument of its own for experimental music, and it was the most powerful board I could find for the price.
@@TheodoreMiller ua-cam.com/video/MZh0HBiJZRU/v-deo.html here’s what I’ve come up with so far, watching your video again to see what I missed the first time.

When you’re used to pro equipment you get used to smacking it around, take my video from metaldays for example, I’m smacking the shit out of the tap tempo for the whole set, but it’s a pro2 so it doesn’t care
I have a question for 222222 usb Behringer for bass drum together with a subwoofer even when I don’t have the fader to 50% high the clip red light is always on and I have to turn down the fader plus the I think they call it gain control at very top then I get complaint from drummer and keyboardist. How to address this issue?
Annoyingly no, it only has a stereo output on it, so the most things you could multi track are two, although you can record up too 24 different inputs at a time, you just have to get all the levels right in the mix
Thanks a lot for this review. Pls is it possible to get output from a channel directly through an assigned subgroup without also punching in the main mix on the said channel.
I have one of these, and stopped outputting sound on the headset in the main mix (only sound comes out on headphones when in pfl) when in main mix not. Any idea why this happens?
Hmmm.. I don't think you knew how to use one knob compression 😅 it's really useful if you knew how to use it. I've been using it for less than a year and i am not disappointed. Ps. We are only using basic setup for our church, this mixer, a basic amp and 4 500watts passive speakers.
if i am using channel 5 on sub group 1-2 but also want channel 5 comming through the mains... do i depress the main button on channel 5 or just the 1-2 button? or both? i noticed the signal sent to mains is stronger/louder if i depress both, but another sound tech says i am doubling my sound and i wonder if this could be damaging to the board or creating a more distorted signal? (love your review btw thanx)
well you can record 10 Mono Channels ... SUB OUTS 1,2,3,4, + Main OUTS 1,2 + the 4 AUX OUTS could just be used for Outs .... or 5 stereo out ... even the extra headphone jack can be its own stereo out but i would recommend 3 stereo outs Max ... Subs and Mains ( i suggest you follow the pros for good info and think free ☻)
Just got the QX2442usb and im using it for karaoke. Does anyone know if I can assign the usb input onto a channel so i can balance the backing music and the vocals please
DON"T DO IT!!! They are notorious for breaking down! When they do, Behringer will NOT service them, even if they're under warranty. See ua-cam.com/video/Ei5H_nLOgA8/v-deo.html

The USB on this desk is not good- seems like an afterthought. 1. You can't alter the volume of the audio coming in from USB and it's massively too loud. You have to lower the sound on the PC and hope to god you or an app never turns it back up or you will be deafened. 2. To hear the audio coming in from USB over the main outputs of the desk you have to press the "USB to main" button but doing that means the main mix is no longer sent from the desk over the USB out (to avoid feedback I suppose). This makes the seemingly simple scenario of playing a drum track on your DAW and jamming along to it on a keyboard plugged into the mixer and recording it over the desk's USB output impossible. The only way to do it is to listen on headphones on the desk, the main output of the desk will only be playing the synth you have plugged in (the main mix); the audio coming in over USB (your drum track playing in your DAW) will be muted. There are other issues I'm having but I've only had the desk I day so I could be doing something wrong.

What is the difference between Behringer SX2442FX Eurodesk 24 Channel - 4 Bus Mixer $499.00Behringer XENYX X2442usb and which would you get. $319.00Thank for you time...
+Shawnee845 For starters the SX2442FX has 16 mic inputs vs 10 on the X2442usb. The X2442 has a built in usb audio interface to connect to your pc for recording purposes. So it all depends on what you're going to do with it. If you're a home studio guy, recording electronic instruments into your daw, or recording jam sessions with your band in your mom's garage, the Xenyx could be the better choice. If you need more mic inputs, or you're more of a live performer than a recording engineer, go for the extra mic inputs.
Hi, nice demo! Very basic question: can you actually record all those channels independently and simultaneously without latency via use to the computer? (Multi-track recording). How do you send daw sound back into the mixer to your monitors?
Hey, as far as im aware this mixer has 8 seperate outputs so you can mutitrack recording into DAW though multi inputs on your audio interface. Obviously it all depends how many inputs the interface has. Having the 8 outs is the main reason people go for this mixer as it will allow seperate multi track recording
also what is the difference of using the aux sends on the channel to send signal for monitor mixes vs. using groups and sending out to monitors? i am currently running two monitors and sending different mixes by playing with the aux 1 and aux 2 directly on the channels. is this the correct way?
I'm trying to figure out how to use this unit as a live function with both Main out and Monitor out. I figured that the Aux 1 and Aux 2 would suffice for monitor out. But All i got was Effects coming through the monitor and when I turned the effects down...nothing. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I connected the Aux send 1 to the Amp and then from the amp to the PA speaker. I will try again and see what happens tomorrow. But any ideas would be appreciated.
you can only run the effects out either the main, or aux one and two,the only other way to do it would be to rout the effects out of the mixer andback into one of the stereo channels
Ok. How would I route the effects out of the mixer? What ins and outs do I connect the cables to? I don't have any external effects I'm using the onboard effects. I get the effects in the mains but no effects in the aux sends? I always use aux 1 for monitoring.
The mixer has 8 outputs.....so it all depends how many inputs uour audio interface has! If it has 8 inputs you can multitrack 4 stereo channels or 8 mono channels

Behringer counts the return from aux and fx as a channel. I'm using this mixer for live broadcasts and podcasting.
No, the usb only works with the main out, but the first seven channels have direct outs, so you could use it with an 8 channel interface

This is for putting a lot of different inputs into a single output.
How many watts can it hold
Its an unpowered mixing desk, meaning you need separate amplifiers to run your speakers, or powered speakers
not with the built in interface though
Where can I get your rack mount ears for this mixer?

two channels max coming out you said ?
Is it possible to turn off the effects for audio?
