    The Super 8 is SICK. Such an overlooked board and is more versatile than people realize. You can find a 19/20 model for under $400 which is a ton of board for the price.

    I have the 2019 in 163cm and I ride it whenever I can access big, open terrain with deep snow. Or, if I'm going to the very top of the resort and expect mixed conditions, this is the board I take. Only things I'll add to this review are:
    1. The back foot camber really does help pop the nose up. Along with the 3D shape nose, it really does great in deep snow.
    2. Something about the dimensions of this board just feels balanced to me. The nose pops up above the snow, but my back foot doesn't sink too far because of the size and shape of the tail. Unlike a lot of swallow tail boards I demo'd last year, I didn't bottom out and hit crust beneath ~4 inch powder. Maybe not as fun on really deep days, but something to think about.
    3. The sidecut radius is pretty massive. The board is a dream in big areas like bowls and open faces, where you can maintain a lot of momentum and make wide turns. But, it takes a lot of muscle to navigate through tight trees.

    I have a 2020 Mt.Bachelor edition and after spending three days on it in powder and groomers at Bachelor this thing is amazing. Turns quick, plenty soft for butters even in the tail, floats well in powder. Slightly wider than most 157cm boards which is perfect for me at 6ft 205lbs. I originally got it for powder tree run days at Bachelor and other Oregon resorts. But honestly I’m going to use it all the time now unless the conditions are as worse as they can get. I’m at a 2” set back and it’s perfect.

    Just got this exact model for this upcoming season. Found it on sale for 20% off which was nice. Looking forward to riding it at my local resort Revelstoke Mountain Resort in BC. I think itll translate well a lot of the PNW mountains get similar snow this should be great. Very excited for my first new board in 10 years.

    Hi Avran, Looking to get the Super 8 or the Burton Cartographer. I'm a east coast freerider at an immediate level. 6'2", 200 lbs, 10.5 boot. Which do you think is the best for holding an edge at speed in icy/hard conditions, but yet can be playful all mountain? I'm looking at 160-163 board length. Thank you (oh, the Ride WildLife looks interesting as well)

    • @AngrySnowboarder
      @AngrySnowboarder  2 роки тому +2

      Never ridden the Cartographer so can't comment on that. Super 8 is great when the conditions are right, but one thing it lacks in is edge hold on ice. That sidecut just does not grip as well as others out there. Wildlife is on par with the Super 8 and has a better sidecut.

    Love your straight up no bullshit reviews Angry. We have just finished our season here in NZ and I can pick up a 160 Salomon 8 for $360 US on sale. I have a 164 Cafe Racer (not ridden yet), 162 & 158 Skeleton Key, 163 w Deep Thinker and a 158 wide Custom X. I am 53 years and just getting back into it after 10 years and just love to attempt to carve as hard as I can. I like the specs and price of this board do you think it would be a worthwhile addition to my current quiver? Or am I dreaming ?Thanks for a all your work and awesome info and reviews and have a phenomenal season🤙.

    Hi there,
    i am getting a super 8 but im not sure on the size, i am 5ft9 and 82kg. i want to use this board for all mountain , carving, freeride and charging.
    would you go 160cm or 157cm? i hear the longer size would be more stable at high speeds?

    Nice review. I have a good deal on a Super 8 163. How is the edge hold on hard/icy snow? Is the sidecut too large for quick carvy turns? I am also contemplating the Nitro Woodcarver 163. ( I am 9.5 boots, 220 lbs).
    Cheers!

      You make it out like I have a choice in sizes for the product I get. Like I just walk in and there's a full size run of everything and I can just take whatever I want. Sometimes I'm kind of limited and have to go with the best option. Also there's these little things called personal preference and geographical locations. Colorado doesn't require a bigger board because it's kind of flat and the snow is ultra light.
