I’ve recently discovered how ultra processed the jelly cubes are the you buy in supermarkets. But I love jelly and it’s full of collagen which is very beneficial. An easy swap is to use unflavoured (preferably grass fed organic) gelatin, dissolve it in some hot water and just add 100% orange juice. or other fruit juice. It makes a lovely refreshing and healthy snack. I can’t get enough of it right now!
Almond butter ... added coconut version for the sweet toothers ! Great source of protein ... Pip & nut is my fave ... no additives at all ... a spoonful or two is so satiating ! ❤
I make my own kefir and either mix it with a little matcha or pour it on homemade granola 😋 Another “nasty” you could add to your list is squash. I can’t bear to even smell the stuff these days, it’s so artificial; my husband drinks it daily and it makes me gag! Plain water is my favourite drink, maybe with ice and a slice to make it feel more special. I’m trying to cut all emulsifiers out of my diet (not easy, they’re everywhere) as they really mess with the gut microbes. I made my own coffee ice cream recently which was delicious - but seeing those raw ingredients really makes you think! Homemade with real ingredients but less often is a good mantra I think 😊
I agree. I used to love lemon and barley squash as an occasional treat but now they all come s "sugar free" which as far as I am concerned is far worse!
The gluten and dairy free food always terrifies me when i read the labels. Our family has had to rely on some of those products for a long time. Apart from those we have lovely fruit and veg and organic meat but i still dont like the processed stuff and always will try to make our own if we have the time and energy as carers.
Thing is Liz. It's NOT cheap anymore. With the artificially high cost I living in the UK. Ultra processed comes in the form of tap water prescription drugs and needles too. It's all around us. Not by accident but to keep people sick. 😢
Much as I like dairy, I’m trying to cut down a bit. I use regular cows milk in teas and coffees because otherwise it just doesn’t taste the same but I make my own plant based milk for porridge and pancakes and that way I don’t even have to sieve them. Fermented dairy I consume freely, but go for sheep’s milk for feta cheese. I believe in variety - that way I don’t over consume any single nutrient.
You can cut out these foods all together! Just shop the outer corners of your supermarket. Veggies, some fruit, eggs, dairy, meats and good oils is all I shop. It saves money and time and and it saved my health! People who think they save time and money with ultra-processed junk will pay for this with time and money when they hit 40 and the health bill arrives.
Hi Liz , With the milk is the blue milk ok or are you referring to the full cream milk in the gold top. I have lots of digestive problems and reflux. I feel like food is a punishment for me :( Also have you any tips for a pcos diet
Liz likes whole milk, which is usually blue top And we have this article on our website on PCOS which mentions diet ❤️ Thanks, Rachel (social media manager) lizearlewellbeing.com/health/pcos-lauren-reynolds/
Read the book Metabolical by Dr Robert Lustig, although American it applies to us all too. It is quite frankly terrifying 😮 what is put into commercially produced so called food ! I avoid at it all
@@pippaDlightful an absolute genius of a man ( and funny with it ) Dr Pradip Jamnadas he’s an American cardiologist but is all about gut health too, very informative and easy to watch/ listen too. Also Dr Eric Berg ( both you tube) I’m a big fan of healthy keto and fasting. I’ve followed these two for a couple of years 48lb down and feeling great 😊
@@katrinafoster4183hey Katrina you've done so well. Wow. 48lbs 🎉 I love Dr Berg. I'll give your other recommendation a follow here on YT. I like Dr Janine Bowring and Dr Josh Axe too. It's great to be informed 👍❤ Have a great day x
This is really helpful Liz, thank you. There is so much info out there. We are struggling for my grandson who has an allergy to milk. At the minute he is still on tinned powder milk on prescription. The reason being is that we are trying to find a plant based product that is ok for him. Milks have lots of stuff you don’t want and those that have added vitamins also contain stuff you don’t want. He is 17 months. Is it better to have one with nothing in it and give him vitamins and minerals in liquid form? We cannot find an answer. It is truly a minefield 🫣
Have you tried goats milk? Yes all the alternative 'milks' are full of U.P stuff. Has he always had issues with milk or did it start after immunisation?
We'd advising making your own nut milk to avoid unwanted ingredients, but they won't have the same nutritional value as dairy milk lizearlewellbeing.com/healthy-food/healthy-recipes/lizs-larder/how-to-make-plant-based-milks-at-home/ ❤️

That book put me in a huff for 2 months !!! Haha ... I knew what he was saying was true. Its all contrived to make you overweight and sick. 😢😢
Such an interesting read!

What flour do you recommend for making your own bread? I keep hearing all grains should be avoided
