Bandai 1/48 Partisan X-Wing from Andor/Rogue One - Part 1 Painting

- If you've fallen in love with the new show Andor, you may have seen an X-Wing painted in black and white colours used by Saw Gerrara's partisan forces - and if you remember the original Rogue One movie, there were several including a crashed one in Jedha City.
This is my attempt at making one using the functional 1/48 scale Bandai X-Wing that I bought second hand. The kit had already been assembled - with a few flaws and dings - but in this video I fix those flaws and repaint it, getting ready for weathering coming in Part 2.

Thoroughly enjoyed the video. The details of painting are fascinating and can scarcely imagine your paint locker, must be epic. Thank you, take care and stay safe.
I have a whole cabinet of paint - check out my stash tour/hobby room makeover from the start of the year...cheers Chris
That paint job looks awesome 👏👏
Ta!
Looking great Becker! Can’t wait to see you complete this one! Thanks for sharing. 😎🇨🇦
Thanks Peter, sorry in delay in replying, was away! Hope you're well, cheers Chris
Hey Becker, not doing so great. Prostrate problems. Been a bad month. Take care! 😎🇨🇦
Sweet! I need one of these 48th kits...
Grab one if you find one! They should have made one without the motor/LEDS at a lower price point IMO.
Looks excellent, I love these different versions of paint schemes for Star Wars vehicles
Me too, I'm thinking of doing a U-wing in this scheme too, if I can find another kit - my nine year old son stole mine out of the stash and built it already!
@@beckersmodels I did a B wing a couple of years back , but I’ll deffo do an X wing
Awesome work mate - love the detail. So cool
Brilliant man, Yours is looking excellent - I just finished my AMT X-wing in the same scheme. It’s a really awesome scheme. Looking forward to the next ones.
Thanks Anthony!
Really nice paintjob so far. Looks superb! I actually had the same idea with the Partisan's X-Wing a while ago, but never came to the stage where I build it. I'm pretty excited about the final look of this. Can't wait for the next video!!! best regards from Germany
Many thanks! Hope to get this done soon before I head back to work in the next couple of weeks...
This looks incredible. I definitely want to practice that marbling technique of yours.
Thanks - Ill put some better photos up on my FB later, they look washed out here on YT.
Hey Chris, by shear definition you ARE an artist because building models you are using a conscious skill and creative imagination :-) Enjoyed this speed building rebuild, don't know how you see these paint schemes in reverse, ( the force must be with you) but this is coming right along, will stand by for the finishing video. I don't know if you remember the movie Independence Day, 1996 I think. I was surfing UA-cam and came across a couple of videos on how they made the models and didn't use CGI that much. They needed a ton of F- 18 Models and literally bought up all they could around the world - its an amazing video on how they made them. I thought of you building away. Search UA-cam, maybe by using special effects for Independence Day, If its not down that way ill try to find it and send a link. What they did with models is totally awesome. Cheers for now.
Thanks mate, appreciate it! Cheers Chris
Thats looking good.
thanks!
Really wish Bandai comes out with a 1/48 scale Y wing fighter. Been wanting it since 1977!!
I am no longer waiting - I bought the STL files for a 1/48 Y-Wing, one day I'll print it out! Also, all the other major ships too...got em all!
The finish came out really nice. And you even built it with the tracks down.
I'm really enjoying your videos. Unfortunately they are making me think about getting back into modeling. 🤠
Ha! Thanks Robert cheers
Good old Gull Gray. Man have been through a number of Humbrol paint pots over the years. It's been the old go to for coating.
Its a winner for dulling it all down for sure! Thanks for your comment Barry
wonderful work. Can I kindly ask you for the exact measurement in cm from the tip to the back of the body excluding the engines? I'm trying to print a 1:48 scale copy and would like to know the exact measurements. I basically need the length of the body like it doesn't have wings and engines. Thank you
this time i have to say you should have done it wheels up
Ha! Ive already got a wheels up 1/48 Xwing! But I have two 1/72 X Wings and a Ywing and a Falcon that I'll one day do as an end of Episode IV post Death Star blow up scene...
Why are the Bandai 1/48 x-wing sooo expensive!?
Its the moving parts and LEDs. If they stripped it out and made some internal basic plastic bits, the cost could be halved I reckon...
It belongs too Disney that's why it's so expensive 😮😢😢😢
