    Reminds me of Octoberfest in Munich, they grill whole mackerel on sticks over coals. Mackerel Pike is widely eaten in Japan and Korea and known to be a very cheap but it is delicious.

    I suggest you download an app called 72 seasons. The Japanese traditionally divided the year into 72 seasons. As you have no doubt become aware, the Japanese are very conscious of the seasons. The app in a very poetic way tells you about each and what to eat in that season. You were in the month where everyone eats saury, which is what you were eating at the matsuri. If you have the app I think you'll find it very gratifying. It is a real insight into what is happening around you.

    Oh, you answered my question! Sweet! I was beginning to suspect it had just slipped through the cracks. Lol Also, Kudos for saying my last name correctly! It seems simple enough, but it's mind boggling just how many people actually mess that up. lol
    As for your answers, those both sound pretty amazing. I've read a few articles and blogs about life in Sweden being really, really nice on all fronts if you can actually get a job out there and find a place to live. The work culture especially seems way more relaxed and chilled compared to Japan and America for sure, so you'd probably get a ton of chances to travel all around the EU without many problems.
    And here's another question for you specifically Eric, I've noticed over the years you specifically use one song in particular in all your edits for your "travel/down time" as I call it. "Queen of Darkness" I think it was(Been a while since I actually checked your other channel lol). I was wondering if you chose to use just that 1 song to make all your videos a bit more cohesive, as in they all feel connected and have a steady progression... Or if it is just more simple to edit with the 1 song?
    I know it's a bit of a random question, but as an editor/filmer myself it really interests me. ^^

    Hi guys, may I please ask you a question? You must think of me as a pain by now. Your channel is one of my favorite UA-cam channels because you are down to earth and have no pretensions. I might be getting one more chance to teach in Japan, in Tsu city.
    I have a question that I wanted to ask you honestly. I love Japanese culture and history, especially the Meiji Restoration, Taisho democracy, etc; and I love dorky stuff like anime and Japanese music like Sekai No Owari; and Japanese movies or movies about Japan like Ikiru or the Richard Chamberlain version of Shogun.
    I also have an interest in Chinese culture and history, but not nearly as much as I do in Japanese culture. I have been watching videos on the LaoWhy86 channel, and he makes China look really adventurous. Especially because he has more opportunities, to do more, because he can do more because he makes relatively an ALT or Eikaiwai wage, approximately $2500 a month, with a cost of living that is approximately 1/2 of Japan, and free housing and utilities. He goes on awesome adventures on motorcycles, tries awesome and strange new foods, and meets all kinds of nice people.
    I've been offered jobs in China like this, teaching at SAT prep schools or universities making relatively the same salaries as an Eikaiwa teacher or ALT would make in Japan, with free housing and utilities. I was even offered fun side jobs in China to teach at a Jiu Jitsu school. Haha, I am nothing special, but I guess my major, GPA, and reference looks good to Chinese schools, because I have not got squat for teaching offers in Japan except as an ALT.
    My question to you is, do you think it is worth teaching in Japan, and give up the better benefits in China, because I like Japanese culture more? Don't get me wrong, I am no Japanese tripster, I always found it weird that people get a certain pompous sense of self-esteem gained from knowing a culture a little better than others, I think people are just people.
    Also, in your experiences and opinions, is it exciting and adventurous to live in Japan in your point of view?
    Also, I don't know why but I am having such a hard time getting up the courage to get up and go, what gave you the courage to get up and go?

    • @kydeanderic
      @kydeanderic  7 років тому +2

      Heh, man I really don't have much advice as we have never lived in China. From what I can tell people either LOVE or hate China. We were there for a month and I wouldn't go as far to say I hated it, but it wasn't our favorite part of Asia. That said, it sorta depends on what you want from the experience. If you want *adventure* it's harder to come by in Japan than it is in other parts of Asia for sure because of how structured everything is. Also as you mentioned the pay ratio in China is better. From what I understand jobs teaching in China are more plentiful too, as less people are excited to go there and their population is so absurdly high. If you have interest in both why not go to China for a year or two and build up your teaching resume, afterwards if you still want to come to Japan you'll have a nest egg saved up and a stronger resume to look for better jobs in Japan? Just an idea. -E

    • @patrickfowler590
      @patrickfowler590 7 років тому

      Thank you very much for your advice, you seem very smart. You are right. I think Japan would be so neat, if I can get a job at an Eikaiwa, because of the steady pay year round. I am already have remorse, even before turning down the job as an ALT, because I know it will be my last chance until next year. Plus, it would be neat, because although I don't really like judo, it would be neat to learn it in Japan, especially Osaka, because how well high level Jiu Jitsu guys have done in Judo in the Olympics, such as Travis Stevens.
      You are right. I think I'll work in China for a while, and get experience. I got offered a job in a neat part of China, Chengdu, with spicy food, bamboo forests, nice girls, and pandas. And they have one of the best Jiu Jitsu academies in China. And the job teaches 20 hours a week, and pays well with free housing. I was even offered jobs teaching economics or history, with no teaching certificate, but it might be good like you said, to get experience first.
      I have been showing my dad your videos about McDonalds and fast food and Japan. He really likes them. I really like them too. I like all your guys video, you guys are awesome.

      The only thing I am afraid of is if I move to Japan, that I will become an internal tourist. I know people are super friendly, but it seems rare that foreigners become full integrated into the society. Is this a legit fear if I go to Japan or China?

      They've addressed that before. I don't recall Exactly what they've said, but I think it has to do with sound and giving privacy to other people (as in trying not to film strangers) when they're out in public.. something like that

      As mentioned by keandric 2 there are a few reasons. Often it's due to just literally being close to each other (in this video we were in a pretty tight area) and also making sure our voices are picked up properly by the camera's onboard mic. -E

    Hmmm more Questions is what you need? How about this one:
    Do people on the street flirt with you a lot during your time in Japan? I noticed that during my stay there it happened to me a few times, even though I'm really not that good looking, it seemed there was a huge foreigner "bonus"....even while I was sitting right next to my wife, ring on finger and everything...

    • @YasashiiFuyu
      @YasashiiFuyu 7 років тому

      Na trust me I'm not, which is why I was so confused when it happened. Like I said, I think it must have been huge foreigner bonus or something....or maybe blond/blue eye exotic bonus? Still my question stands :-P

    Eric- way to go on the zipper technique! I'll try that next time I eat a fish 😊 and for the record, I hate fishy fish too😜
    Kyde- Totally Random but I like your hair growing out longer, you look so pretty🌺
    As far as the Sweden thing, I'll check with my Great Uncle who was The Mayor of Karlstad Sweden back in the 90"s🤓 Him and my Aunt are both professors now at the University. Do either of you have bachelors degrees? I couldn't remember. So I'll check on the visa, employment and apartment thing. Give me some time, Sten and Agnita usually take awhile to communicate back due to their busy schedules.
    Do you guys have a P.O. Box if people want to send you stuff?
    Your biggest Fan
