I'd like to see them add a jump pack lieutenant these guys look like they'd be pretty good if they had lethal hits
Blood Angels get it with a strat. Chuck a captain with them and they’ll mince.
yes. just what we need. another primaris lieutenant. PERFECTION!
i jest.
I feel like another Primaris Lieutenant is due
Finally a Primaris Lt. people asked for.
@@sonicwingnut its sad because its true... shit.
These are $23 a model in New Zealand, regular Assault Intercessors are $11.50 and jump packs ,$4 each, so significantly cheaper to kit-bash here.
Yah I agree unless you are a big fan of the sculps they are just by far the worst kit. Ive recasted some jumped packs and hording the indomitus assault ints because they dynamic poses
that would be the old jump pack. Waiting for new 3d printed jump packs to buy on ebay. Someone is going to make a mint making them and selling
Yeah I don’t feel bad at all buying one pack of jump marines redistributing the jump packs with some resin copies to my assault intercessors
@@garagegames2555 yeah I like the idea of mixing different types of jump packs, so it's not just the regular Assault Intercessors with different jump packs. I'm sure someone will make add-on leg boosters too
@@namewastaken360 I’m debating cutting them off tbh I’m not that big of a fan
With the jetpack CPT and a Sanguine priest in the BA detachment you're looking at 5A 6S 2AP 1dmg from those chainswords. Assuming the priest can be attached to them
replace the assault squad with jump packs so will prolly be in an errata
It should be noted that Shrike regaining the Phobos matters for exactly one stratagem - the one that lets a unit move reactively.
I was confused these werent in Phobos to be honest since Shrike was in, I wonder if theyre going to do a separate Phobos jump kit?
it makes sense for the blood angels' way of fighting
$60 for 5 guys. Gonna just buy a pack of 10 assault intercessors for the same price and print some jump packs.
Incroyable.
You don’t even have to print them, GW sells them for 10 bucks 😂
something of note. There is a rumored box set for christmas that will contain 3 sets of these. Along with a captain, outrider squad and invader ATV
Yeah I heard of this too.
I think I remember hearing about that.
Fluff-wise, these will be really fun in my Black Templar army. Especially with the stormlance detachment and just falling back and charging into the enemy again and again for those free mortal wounds. Although, I'm gonna wait until the Christmas box comes out to get some.
I wish for Primaris Chaplain with JP or Lieutenant...
I have 10 of Assault Intercessors, with old jump packs and there we go ;)
I already placed an order for ten of these guys. As a Blood Angels player I’ve been waiting ages for some primaris jump assault
I like them!
Same but im waiting for death company kit and sanguinary guard refresh
@@tinkertoiler744probably won’t happen
@@tinkertoiler744 I sent mine to warp fire even without a refresh only a matter of time before a cull
@@averageedpenjoyer1692why not? The market is there. Gw will exploit all it can. There is a reason these are still called intercessors. Same goes for the terminators. The rubicon things is nonsense they are upscaling to protect their ip. They will ditch some units and characters but core elements to a faction like death company.
I have a bunch of assault intercessors left over from the 9th edition starter set and Imperium magazine so I ordered some jump packs from GW to convert them, so much cheaper than the ridiculous price for this 5-guy set. I imagine the jump packs will disappear from the store once their old stock runs out though!
Very excited to absolutely flood the board with these guys playing blood angels. Maybe not very tactically smart, but absolutely on brand
In the stormlance detachment it'll be absolutely terrifying.
Move.
Advance (with a strat to max that)
Charge.
With your whole army. Every turn 😳😳😳😳😳😳
It's actually brilliant for secondary missions aswell.
"all the grace of an enraged meteorite" never have I heard a better description for Marine jump infantry lol
This is a cool datasheet, I absolutely do not like the tactical rocks, regular assault intercessors with a conversion will have to do for me
They look reallllly good on the table from above, the angle makes it look like they are actually off the ground not touching the rock..... From the front eye level angle not so much
@@pveverything9945 I'll take your word for it because just buying the regular kit is far less of a hassle
agree, think their posing with the rocks looks terrible. Will also be picking up some indomitus assault intercessors and jump packs separately.
I'm not a fan of the tactical rocks either, but I like them better than the inceptor style flight bases.
@@tuffn00giesto be fair, a root canal is better than the inceptor flight stands
Is that Smash Captain loadout confirmed for the Jump Captain?
He can definitely take the Hammer and Shield? (even though those aren't included on the sprue) 🤔
Yes I've seen it in other videos. I suspect an event model coming...
@@richarddixon1450 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
Excited to run these with Shrike!
I’ll definitely be using these for my Templars
Fingers crossed they end up getting the Eviscerator and special weapons after all, even if folks have to wait until 11th Edition.
And it's going to be an upgrade pack so you get double screwed over. Standard Intercessors did get their sergeant wargear options BUT, their sprues are the same ones from 8th edition. You have to buy packs or kitbash them
Yeah, they're saving it for the redo of the kit.
I'd love to see the same video done on eliminators unless I somehow missed it and its already up They seem to be quite viable, seeing as oath was nerfed as they have a good ballistic , AP and strength skill and running with librarian would provide the ability to hide them makes them good objective holders
Bring at least one unit of them every game. One for the back field, one for infiltrators, cost less than captain with combi bolter with similar abilities.
All guns are good. Use your best judgment.
Plus with the new Siege Detachement, they would also get +1 to wound if they remain on their spot. Quite good to snipe characters.
I completely missed that rule. Might have to change from blueberries to imperial fists
@@jjb2244 In that detachement, all range weapons get heavy. Those that are already heavy get +1 to wound if they don´t move. So not only the snipers.
Eliminators with another phobos troops without poor rivers - most cool primaris kit for the years.
Whilst I hate some of the Primaris models, Intercessor types continue their trend of doing it for me. Good old reliable Intercessors.
interesting to see that their difference between the Assaults with J.Packs is basically a single dude that can take an Eviscerator and P.Pistol per 5, and the Sarge can take a shield, while the Ints get an extra 6" range and -1AP on their pistols.
I would say the Firstborn assaults are the better option for damage output, even if the generic pistols are a little worse and the unit itself is a bit more expensive. but the extra guy with a P.Pistol and Eviscerator is to good imo
Hate that the jump captain can be equipped with the hammer and shield but it’s not in the kit
Not ideal BUT there are some nice 3rd party resin bits suppliers out there that could give some very nice chapter-themed alternative bits to use.
However it's easy enough to get them from bits of other kits, or on ebay. Anyone with a vanguard vets box is probably swimming in hammers and shields
10 man squad with jump chaplain look interesting to me. If my maths are correct, they can average about 13 wounds on T9-13 & 3+ save units, without overcharging and with no other buffs. That is if all models can charge into engagement range though, but it looks like an option for raiding transports or a medium toughness vehicle/monster. Chances are your opponent wouldn't see it coming too.
If we can get Death Company Intercessors with Jump Pack i might be more interested. Especially if the firstborn/primaris is put to bed.
They will just put a blood angels upgrade sprue in this box😂
Only if you can get the weapon choices you get on the first born, otherwise what’s the point?
Making up a squad of 5 now. Gone with the plasma pistol and power fist for the sergeant but also going to attach a captain with jump pack. For the captain gone with a thunder hammer and shield just because I love the look of it.
Play as the posterboys (UM - since 1995)
Im a bit surprised youd rate the jump capt over the chappie. But they both sound very good. I cant wait to try them.
Sons of Sanguinius detachment with a jump captain. +2S and +1A on the charge, using red rampage. Lethal hits + Lance.
The wargear is quite lacklustre compared to assault squad, no flammenwerfer, no evicerator, or even combat shield just make this unit straight upgrade of Assault Intercessors
They could make it an upgrade sprue or release new jump units in the future with the wargear.
I think they want to differentiate them from Vanguard Veterans.
Granted, those get their options butchered as well recently so who the fuck knows?
I dont know if you will see this auspex, but i have finally found the one good reason to take sons of sanguinius. 4 of the strategems are battle tactics, so taking captains is now almost useful for us now!
My blood angels fall back and charge looking nice.
wonder if we'll ever get proper tactical and devastator intercessors
Assault Squads could always take two Plasma Pistols in a squad in addition to whatever the Sergeant could take. Losing one of those is a straight nerf.
They're also currently 5 points a model less. I'd take that trade anyday
10 man squad can run 3 Plasma Pistols.
As of the index last week you could have a plasma pistol and 2 plasma guns, and an eviscerator on top of that. The new rules are so restrictive by comparison
Dont forget the E V I C E R A T O R and shield
I’ll be buying the Jump Pack Intercessors for my Black Templars army, as well as a Jump Pack Captain, since there aren’t any BT unique characters that can lead a Jump Pack squad. I did buy 2 5-packs of Jump Packs from GW; I wonder if it’s possible to equip them on a Marshal or Castellan?
The first minute of this video almost sounds like a Christmas Carroll. Hear ye hear ye (rings old timey bell). I suggest a petition with this comment for Auspex to make a short Christmas Carroll of it.
What are my odds on the eviscerator and special weapons coming back in an intercessor with jump pack box v.1.2?
Statline looks quite nice.. now give me these for Worlde eaters
Can they not take raptors?
@@Hugme778 i wish 🤞 but so far no
I was reading through the 10th edition index/codex and noticed the FB "Assault Squad with Jump Packs" is still listed in there and also listed on legends list as well.
Ive considered converting my regular assault intercessors they but they are the 1st models my son and i painted
I recall Inceptors originally having a rule for inflicting mortals on a charge (maybe after a deep strike, but still) that got taken out REAL QUICK! so, I'm not counting on that rule existing for more than a year at best.
GW likes to give their new primaris units gimicky special rules and then taking them away next edition. Aggressors shooting twice if they don’t move, inceptors did a mortal wound on a 6 when you charge with them, Eradicators shooting twice if you’re targeting the same unit, etc
Question
If your running the jump pack captain as Blood Angels, by that I mean the Sons of Sanguinus detachment, would that mean he gets himself and the unit +1 strength on the charge in addition to the +1 strength from the detachment rule when they charge? Because of they stack, those Chainswords are swinging at Str 6 and 8 attacks.
I certainly hope so!
The best part is that I can finally ditch footslogging assault cessors (heted their 6" and no fly) and replace their backpacks with jump packs that I can print myself.
All hail the Great Angel, his sons should have wings
Given that Tyranids got Gargoyles with a potential 18 inch area denial using stratagems and the right detachment, marines need a cheap flying unit to counter…
Vanguard with jump packs seem a better option heirloom weapons, storm shields or grab guns etc
Honestly would it have been super mega OP to let them be battle line? I want my all jump packs Blood Angels back.
Could you do a unit review of the melee tyranid warriors in vanguard detachment with a winged prime leading them
I'm Still new to the game. I was wondering if I could paint them as Death Company, or if I have to wait for a specific DC JP Assault kit for that to work?
Just going to get assult interssors and buy some 3d print jet packs.......mybe i will stick them on some rocks to complete the look.
Wonder if gw will remake the blood angels combat patrol with these guys
It’s a good idea which is why they won’t do it
they do the same damage of normal assault intercessors: the normal one by rerolling wounds and the jump pack ones by hammer of wrath + melee withou reroll to wound. JP have mobility, Assault ones got OC. OC wins games, hance Assault Intercessors are stronger.
I think my main observation would be that they constitute an overall change-of-direction for Primaris feel and they make Outriders obselete.
Previously, primaris jump troops were mobile shooting and you had to use Outriders for a "cavalry charge" if you wanted fast assault; now Primaris really are a like-for-like replacement for firstborn (once there's a gravgun based squad, Devastators will be next to go...)
I don't dislike them at all but I'd rather still have the 2x special weapon options that came with assault squads. More jump characters would help make them more relevant (apothecary, ancient and librarian).
Outriders needed the sergeant options these guys have (or to take the mobile shooting role that old bikes better served).
I think it's encouraging that their points cost is not high - charging purely for mobility tended to price out units like bikes as they were fast but couldn't do anything when they got there. Trading OC1/2 for jump movement is a fair trade-off vs assault intercessors on foot, in my opinion.
I like your insight on the use of Outriders in 10th and how bikes used to fill a mobile fire role. Bikes likely need a points cut (or ATVs do). Devastating Wounds wounds from the Chaplain really feels like the only way to get some Omph out of them. ( I do like the idea of this blob of bikes though)
The step through the Rubicon, while executed a tad clumsily, is one I am happy to take.
Stacking the Grenade strat on a min size of these guys. Chaplain to through on a few more.
@@stuartbanana5083 I think the ultimate end-point of the Rubicon will be better models with more trademarkable names but with fewer options in how you configure your unit. Adding the ATV into the Outriders restores some of the firepower of the old Attack Bike but I think the model is maybe a bit big to fit through terrain with the others around it and it's still a big investment of points and money for one heavy weapon when the other three models used to be able to take 2x special and maybe a combi-weapon and power fist on the sergeant. I agree that the Chaplain can make Outriders work (and is a great model) but that combo could also be done with a jump Chaplain and the new Jump Intercessors. Bikes do have better durability - something that has always been the case and, thematically, not really what I'd want as I'd chose something slow and chunky in that role, e.g. Terminators... All told, I think Primaris has done quite well for most units in figuring out what they're supposed to be and making that cool, except for bikes!
I wonder if future vanguard vet equivalents will be these guys, but in gravis. Basically inceptors but melee
I would love for that to happen
I think they'll go the Sternguard route and just port them over more or less unchanged.
@bilbostomper you're probably right, but im permanently campaigning for gravis melee. Ill take anything, even heavy assault intecessors
@@danguhzone5130considering that’s the one unit type Gravis is missing it’d be nice to see but they probably think aggressors fill that role when they really don’t
Does anyone know why you’d take basic assault intercessors over these, other than points?
Foot Assault Intercessors have OC2 and re-roll 1s to Wound or full wound re-rolls if the enemy is within range of an objective. I don’t think these guys replace foot Intercessors though. If they replace anything it’s another fast mover or deep strike unit. Outriders or Inceptors probably. Despite the name and equipment they are just a different unit class.
Maybe for a unit to attach with mephiston? Especially with his fight first ability, you ideally want a unit which can pack a punch in close combat
Call me crazy, but I already have assult Intercessors, 1squad of 10 and 2 squads of 5 with impulsors..so..?
I know no one asked but this was it for me. For most of tenth there was just an extreme lack of “oh but I kill you abilities” and the ones that did exist were in moderation (I never played against eldar)- with the recent dataslate my partner got into deathguard and could not be more disappointed with how strong everything having “lethal hits” was- not to mention the extremely slow and “hold objectives for free” playstyle- in previous editions and specifically early tenth they were really excited to play DG but had it ruined by the buffs that just kind of make them unusually strong but sub optimal. Let’s give a run down on mortal wounds in tenth- even giving the devastating wounds the merit they’re worth:
“HAHA! I rolled a crit on my wound roll so you take damage immediately!”
“Yeah well uh, if I charge you I hit first and I have lethal hits instead of devastating wounds which means if I crit you on a hit you take mortals”
“WELL UH- IF I CHARGE YOU YOU TAKE WOUNDS!”
It feels like a back and fourth of power struggle because of a power gap gw thought existed. With all of these new “well I do it better until the next dataslate/codex” happening specifically with the edition that was supposed to change it enough is enough for me- I need to put this game down, not the hobby just it’s god awfully balanced game. I’m playing a one page rules game in two days from now, a rematch of the game we had where both the deathguard player and I were left disappointed. I just can’t with the idea of “hey let’s renew this thing and give it a sequel name!” With nothing changing about its update ethics.
If you think these jet pack mortal wounding machines are fun- I’m excited to see you on community servers! They look fun in theory but I’m just at my limit with these rules that add a mini fighting phase that does mortal wounds, and the rules that skip phases all together and still do mortal wounds. I hope you come up with awesome names for your jumppack intercessors because even though I’m playing a new game these guys are still (in theory) super fun, jump pack chainsword people make me go (: but their rules are just so ): (even as the space marine player, that’s me)
I’m very new to 40k. Grabbed a starter set a few weeks ago and am now building out a space marines army. I found a cheap, used Assault Squad set. Are these new jump pack miniatures supposed to replace the assault squad or will I still be able to use them?
You will probably have to proxy them as assault intercessors with jump packs though I doubt anyone will care
These are separate from assault marines. The assault marines with Jumpacks added on are a good kitbash option
I wonder, since the old assault squad is now gone, if dante can lead these guys? My son plays Blood Angels and when he plays against me, I'll let him but still curious.
What’s your take on running them in squads of 10 versus squads of 5?
Take 10 if you're going to have a character involved, two units of 5 is a nice harrassment set up and will get you objective points throughout a game, and could pull off flank charges with them to help your other units in close combat
@@alexairey5629 Agree. I'm planning on grabbing the Christmas box which is supposed to be chock full of em so I'll play around with it. Thanks!
I wouldve liked to see an upgrade sprue to turn regular assault intercessors into jump pack intercessors. doesnt seem like they really needed their own kit.
Any new on if Shrike can roll with these guys?
Well I got a huge bargain haul of blood angels firstborn jump troops off ebay a while back so nice to see the loadout options before my codex arrives - I'm just doing what everyone else is and sticking jump packs on the Assault Intercessors from Imperium. Free mini of the month is a Sternguard which is kinda useless on his own so might use him as the sergeant.
You can just use assault marines bro…
@@alexknudsen2759 The assault intercessors are better sculpts and better scaled, and I already have 10 of them that are a bit crap without jump packs anyway.
@@sonicwingnut I don't understand people not using the models they already own and painted to play. Yall must love shoveling cash to GW
@@alexknudsen2759 like I said I already had the models. In fact I had the 10 assault intercessors before I had the old assault marines as the latter were part of a big ebay haul. And they ain't well painted and all the weapons are glued on.. so easier to just strip the jump packs.
Lemartes will make my jumpy boys lovely
Gladius detachment? Tactical doctrine? Charge, retreat, charge? MW MW
I might complain that these are a thing, yet then every weird one off of them one Chapter had, like Blood Angels, is also still a thing, instead of replacing it, but I can always find something needless to complain about 😊; I'm still annoyed that the one named character the biker chapter has is on foot, but its good that these sound decent. Space Marines aren't my thing, but it's good to see what has otherwise been a gap in Primaris get filled, and with something that should see some use.
Does the 1 plasma pistol per 5 mean that a normal guy can take a plasma pistol even if the sergeant has one?
Does it has the options for shield and thunder hammer? Didn’t seen it in the sprue
Nope.
Chainsword, Sword and Fist only on the Sgt.
Chainswords only for everyone else.
Captain can Thunderhammer and Shield.
@@shanehudson3995 yeah I mean the cap, he has the options in rules only? Cause in the sprue I didn’t see the weapon options
@@MyAlessandro1995 The option is legal, so it should be on the sprue somewhere.
@@shanehudson3995 unless there is a second sprue they didn’t show in the article few days ago then there is not the bits in the box and you have to take it from somewhere else
Does anyone know if they can ride in a Stormraven?
Jump packs are out of stock on GW"s North American website, and with the way their stock has been lately, I wouldn't bank on them returning anytime soon. Fortunately I have tons of Death Company and Sanguinary Guard Jump Packs, so I am just going to use the on-foot Assault Intercessors and those. $60 USD for 5 guys is ridiculous when I can buy 10 for the same price and use my leftover bits.
Hoping they update dante so i can attach him to these guys
wait...for every five one can take a plasma pistol...does this mean technically the squad can take two plasmas? Or just the sergeant?
It dumb that you have to take a thunder hammer with the relic shield on the captain with jump pack. It isn't as good, but relic sword and shield looks way cooler
I want some eviserators
Miss the eviscerator
Can you attached Jump Pack Chaplain to Jump Pack Intercessors?????
For 90 points they seem good, but will the points change on release? We already know Desolation Marines are costed wrong
As a Raven Guard player I'm definitely getting 10 for Shrike to lead. I already have 10 unpainted assault intercessors, so now I'm thinking about getting jump packs for them too so they I can field 2 small units to score objectives and cause problems. I don't know if that's necessarily a good use of points, but it fits the chapter theme. It's just too bad that they can't take lightning claws!
If Shrike regains his Phobos keyword he can’t join them.
That would suck
No power axe or power mauls ?
I'm doing conversions on my current assault intercessors to have jump packs. I gave the sargeants thunder hammers, but it looks like those are not an option. Well, they will count as power weapons or fists.
It’s a hammer shaped prosthetic now
@@KMn048 Thank you! They are hammers that hit like fists. Fist-Hammers!
Already have an order in for 10 and a Captain, though I already regret the Captain purchase. They seem more annoying and fun with Shrike.
On a successful charge, those guys will shine with Honour The Chapter. With free with the Captain or spend the CP on the chap and get a further +1 to Wound. 2+ wounds against T4. And the free mortal wounds from a jump chap.
You can’t modify wound roll by more than 1 sadly
So it would only be one or the other
@Yodiscat.111 Yes you can, by modifying a Characteristic and the Wound roll separately. It's in the commentary.
i can see them flying along my sanguinary guard 😍😍😍
If they still had flamers and the sergeant could take a thunder hammer I'd get them, but as it is Inceptors just fill that role much better.
Graytide sells jump pack as a stl and they are cheep. So buy a assassult intersessors with a few jump packs stl and easy
I used to be ALL about assault marines and Blood Angels back in the day. It makes me a bit sad that I've moved on and I won't be reliving past glories with these guys. It's not really that kind of game anymore.
oh please my $500 worth BA from slamingus days needs some ebay treatment😂, but 15 of guys seems fun
What do you mean?
You used to be able to take between 25 and 40 guys with jump packs, charge them all forward into combat and tear the heart out of the enemy army. In 10th edition that would be a risky move. Even Sanguinary Guard aren't that durable for the points anymore.
@RSBurgener sounds like rose tinted glasses tbh.
Because you can still do that now. No matter the edition it should always be risky.
@@RSBurgener Its sign of primaris sanguinary guard will come at 2025 after some broken meta fix and second battle for Ultramar electric bugaloo.
I'm kinda annoyed we can't equipped them with lightning claws
...are these just standard jump assault marines, now in primaris?
But without the special weapons assault marines had, like eviscerators, flamers, and hammers
I was super excited about these until I realized they were being sold in sets of 5
It's so unfortunate the captain doesn't come with the hammer amd shield
Ok, im glad they made it so at least 1 other guy can take a plasma pistol.
Yeah I love my 10 new jump guys I just kitbashed for free
I still have 20 assault marines from indomitus unpainted... to be honest, I'd rather just buy some of the old (and better looking) jump packs and glue those on, especially considering the extreme costs that GW charge now.
Since they have OC1 however, they compete with Reivers.
Reivers are 5 points cheaper (also have deep strike), ignore terrain while moving, force a battle shock test at -1 leadership and they have precision weapons. Take 1 less space in transports.
Jump Pack Intercessors have better sergeant weapons, MW charge, -1 AP on chainswords and 12" move.
Those aren't all the differences, you have leader restrictions of course, but if you already have Reivers, it doesn't seem like these are worth the money, time and effort. Plus, honestly, I'm sick of intercessors, they're ugly and boring.
I wish they give us 10 model per pack...
I’ll stick with my Skyclaws tak
Yea my og assault intercessors are getting junp packs
No plasma, melta, Fire weapons 😢
They got nerfed all around but they aren't bad just niche
There's no way they should be cheaper than a squad of World Eaters Khorne Berzerkers...
Three Thunderwolf Cavalry at the same points have more Wounds, Toughness, 4++, 21 Attacks at Str 5 -1 d2 on the charge. If you compare the raw stats the JPAI cant compete really. Just the infantry keyword might help them out. TWC are not even competitive at the top Tables... so yeah im not convinced JPAI will see play.
I see them as meh. Nothing to really to write home about. I could reserve a 10 man squad of assault intercessors and rapid ingress them or just bring them in for a charge. Feel like they'd do so much better esp if they're on an objective.
$60 for 5 dudes is not worth it for me. Considering that they don't have jump pack harnesses so converting/kitbashing some using a box of Assault Intercessors + 3rd party/3d printed/spare jump packs is genuinely just better value for what's the exact same thing. Plus the poses would be better.
Aren't inceptors 115?
